Inside the CK Group building on the other side of the city, the shareholders' meeting ended after hours of exhausting deliberation. Georgina stood by her office window, massaging her forehead with her brows furrowed in frustration. But since it was time for a break, she left her office to grab a snack. She heard several employees chattering in the lobby from a distance, laughing while holding their phones. 'Why are they loitering here?' she thought. Georgina walked in their direction. She was about to reprimand them when she noticed the man in the video playing on an employee's phone. It was Nicholas talking to his scooter! Georgina's eyes widened in horror. "Don't worry, Scooty. I'll avenge you! Just wait and see." He sobbed while stroking the bike's pedal. "That guy is so funny! Who is he?" One employee cackled after watching the video. The employee holding the phone frowned. "Don't you know who he is? He's Manager Clark's husband!" Georgina stood behind them like a statue, too ashamed to move. "Ah, the good-for-nothing Nicholas?" Another one proudly said, "I saw him earlier. That bimbo said he'd buy Manager Clark a pair of Crystal Love shoes! Can you believe that?" "What a big joke!" "Yeah! Just look at how pathetic he was over some broken scooter! He could never afford a pair of Crystal Love even if he sold his soul!" The girls continued mocking Nicholas, oblivious to Georgina's presence. Then one girl turned around and locked eyes with her. The girl awkwardly turned silent, drawing the other's attention, and looked behind them at once. Slowly, their proud expressions switched to fear. "We apologize, Manager Clark! Hurry, let's go to work!" They spoke in chorus and dispersed. Georgina bit her lip in embarrassment. Her cheeks flushed, mortified by Nicholas's stupidity. She walked back to her office, slumped on her desk, and closed her eyes. On the other hand, whistling to a tune while walking, Nicholas returned home without his broken scooter. He was excited about attending their class reunion and wanted to change into neat clothes. Nicholas arrived home in a good mood. He walked through the main door and saw Esther sitting with crossed legs on the sofa. Esther eyed Nicholas coldly from head to toe, and his smile had faded by then. "You're back just in time. Come here," Esther ordered him, and Nicholas timidly obeyed. "Pack your things and ready the divorce papers tomorrow. After that, leave this house," Esther demanded coldly. Nicholas's heart sank; he couldn't believe what he just heard. "But, Mrs. Clark! I love Gina!" Nicholas was so into her that it was too late to call things off, and he couldn't afford to lose her. Irritated by his declaration of love, Esther slammed the table, standing up. "Nonsense! Love? I put up with a pathetic son-in-law like you for three years! Tell me, what else do you know aside from housework?" Esther fumed. Nicholas kept his head down, unable to answer her questions. Esther walked around Nicholas, pointing her finger at him. "Do you think you're good enough for my daughter? Do you know how many people wanted her hand in marriage?" She scoffed. "Daniel called me earlier." Nicholas's ear perked up when he heard his name. "Are you curious about what he offered? He's willing to give us twenty million in exchange for being married to my daughter." Nicholas tried hiding a smirk, recalling the deal he had with his uncle. The Godfreys had been sponsoring Daniel's company for years. Without the Godfreys, Daniel would be nothing in less than twenty-four hours. Where was he going to get that twenty million? He stood up, patted his jeans, and faced Esther. "Alright, I won't argue with you. Divorce is fine, but I want Gina to tell me her decision personally." Nicholas walked out of the living room without letting Esther respond. From a distance, Nicholas heard her shouting, "What are you talking about?! Come back here, Nicholas!" Esther called out to him nonstop, but Nicholas never looked back. When evening came, Nicholas's dumb video had gone viral in the entire CK Group. So, Georgina had to stay cooped up in her office and hide from shame. She waited until everyone in her department left before coming out of her burrow, hoping she wouldn't run into someone. However, the information desk stayed staffed until lockdown hours. Breathing a sigh of courage, Georgina passed by the information desk with a small greeting, "Good work." The staff smiled at her and placed a black and gold-plated box on the table. "Manager Clark, here's a package for you." Georgina stared at the box, confused. The package was extraordinary and grand. "Oh my gosh!" Someone exclaimed from a distance. Soon, a few people coming out of the elevator crowded around her. "This is the first time I've seen a gold-plated box, Miss Clark!" "Miss Clark, it must be a gift from someone! Go ahead and open it!" someone urged. Georgina had always been strict with the employees but also had a good relationship with them. For a moment, Georgina wondered where the package came from since she never bought anything online. But since everyone was excited to see what was inside, Georgina smiled and humored their request.
