The Truth?

I climbed out of his car and followed him into the woods. We walked for at least twenty minutes and then I saw it. A field filled with forget-me-nots. My favorite flower having to do with my past before I knew I was adopted. I started having a flash back. * "Don't go far my forget-me-not!" my mother yelled out that back door. "Mommy why do you call me forget-me-not?" I questions while looking at the flower my nick name came from. "Because my lovely Emily no matter what I hope you always remember me and remember who you truly are," she smiled.* My flash back ended and I was back in the field with Derek. He was looking at me when I faced him. "You like forget-me-nots? What do they mean to you?" He studied me before answering, "Well, they remember the past. Ones true self can be reveled just by looking at them." he then walked up to be and took my hand. "Emily what do you know about your past?" "What do you mean? You barely know me" I tried not to yell at him while taking my hand out of his. His touch felt so perfect yet something about it put me in a panic. "Emily, I haven't been honest with you and that is why I brought you here. I need you to remember your past. I need you to remember what they have made you forget." Who is they and what was I made to forget? Who is Derek and why is he telling me all this? I slowly backed away from him toward the trees we came through. "Who are you?" "Emily I will tell you everything I promise just please come sit in the field with me." he smiled while holding his hand out to me. Do I trust him? I was unsure but in the end decided to take his hand and walk to the middle of the field. we sat down on a blanket Derek had pulled out of his bag facing each other. "Right so first off your name isn't really Emily and I believe you have discovered you are not related to you parents," "Right, I figured that out when I turned sixteen. When everyone was trying to figure out what was wrong and my parent told me the truth." I mumbled. "Well, your true name is Amelia or I guess you could say Emily for short. You are not part of this world. Best way to describe you would be through fairy tales but they are real and not full of glitter and shine." He paused and looked at me like he was waiting on me to call him crazy. With each word though it was as if I could feel myself becoming whole. "Your parents had to send you here to protect you. A great evil was coming to kill you because the prophecy of our people stated that the birth of child on the first day of winter verses that of spring would be able to stop the spell of the rogue fairy." "My birthday is December 21 the first day of winter. S your telling me I'm a fairy?" I asked skeptically. "Yes, but we aren't like the fairy tales describe us," "Obviously, I mean I'm short but I sure as hell and not no Tinkerbell." He laughed, "Well no, us fairies have to choose a side when we turn 21. There is the light and the dark. The light which is the side of your parents, and myself, help provide enlightenment in those who have dark auras while the dark balance out the pride in those who shine too brightly. We are the balance of the world. No one gets too much and no one is brought too low." "How is that possible when the suicide rate is at a high? I mean that sounds way too low for me" I was so confused. "Well one of the dark fairies decided that she didn't like the ways of always helping weak humans and started a dark revolution. Hence a prophecy came in the hand of our ancients. All fairies are born in the spring but it spoke of a fairy born to the light whom would come at the beginning of winter. When you were born it was kept a secret and you were sent to earth to be raised by humans. I grew up learning your stories from your mother." "My mother? Are you about to tell me you are my younger brother?" I laughed but then stopped incase it was true. "No, I'm older than you I was raised in the castle as a warrior." he paused again as if he was letting his words sink in. "The castle? Who are my parents?" "They are the king and queen of the light. You are the lost princess Amelia. I am the warrior that was assigned to you and when I became of age I was to seek you out to bring you home." "A princess, I can't be a princess. How can I believe anything you are telling me?" I was starting to panic. "Amelia, you can see auras and hear the thoughts of those around you. This world has become too bright because you haven't been trained. I'm hear to help do that and protect you from evil finding you. Look into the flowers you will find the truth." I took a deep breathe and did as he said. Turning away from him I looked down at the forget-me-not around me. Suddenly my vision began to blur and something else started to form. Another memory? * A beautiful lady holding a little boys hand while I played on the playset. I must have been four or five. Both of them just watching me. The woman having eyes that matched mine and the little boy looking at her and me. I heard them even though I was so far away. "Derek that is Amelia, one day you will have to find her again and protect her." the lady said. " Yes my queen but why can't I stay here with her? Become a friend that she can trust why must I wait?" he asked. "It's too soon she will be found before her powers can develop. We must wait till the time is right. For now she is able to be hidden and have an aura like these humans."* Then it faded and I started to fall backwards. Strong arms caught me and before blacking out I saw Derek looking down telling me it would be okay.
