Today was a good day. I didn't get wet!
I had work today and as I was getting up I was worried that it was still raining. It was yesterday and I'm fairly sure I heard it at one point during the night but I must have been wrong. I got ready for work, going through the morning routine of up, shower, dressed and kit and stepped out of the door. I almost jumped for joy, not only was it not raining the ground was even dry. This meant getting into work was almost enjoyable, the only downside of the trip was that it was for work.
Work was a little odd today, I was meant to be a waitress, which I prefer, but was put on the deli counter to set up. I felt bad for whoever was meant to be on there as it's hard to find things to do to start with, that alone if someone has already set things up. So I did my best and just got the main bits done, leaving the actual food for the girl running it. I think her name is Sarah, she's not new exactly but I don't interact with her much and I'm really rubbish with names.
So after setup I went back to my actual job for the day and found a few kinks in the system. Apparently our printer had stopped working or something so we didn't have the normal sheets to fill out. Instead they provided us with plane paper and we had to do things like normal waitresses and write down people's orders. I didn't mind this so much except I ended up rewriting a number of them as my shorthand for various things probably just looks like some random letters on a page for most people. It doesn't help that my handwriting isn't that great, especially when I'm trying to write things quickally. This slowed me down a little but no one seemed to notice so I think I'm good. It was generally a busy day, as it seems to be every day at the moment and we were never left with nothing to do. As we started to close down, I noticed the deli counter was empty rather than being closed down. I checked with my supervisors and it turns out Sarah left earlier than the rest of us. There are a few people who go home an hour early, I think for the most part it's because they have other commitments like second jobs and the like. Either way I was put back into deli to do the close. That was fine with me, I will always choose closing deli to table clearing, it's just a more interesting job and doesn't involve as much walking.
Going home I was even happier to see that it was still dry and was even sunny at this point. Going home was actually fun today, even better I basically had the roads to myself too which just made the ride that much better as I didn't have to worry about the t**t behind me.
Once home I found David to be getting dressed and ready to go out. That's when I remembered that it was Wednesday and he was off to MtG with his mum. This made me feel a little sad as I would miss him. I know it's just an evening and I know that even if he was here we'd not do much together but I still really enjoy his company, even if it is while doing our own things.
So as he left I got Conan up and running. I was hoping to do some building today, but found that as the server has been off things haven't been refined as much as I thought. I started by getting even more raw materials then, while waiting for everything to refine, took my sabertooth out hunting. I wanted to get him to level 10, then I was going to switch to the other one and do the same. It was going really well too, until I decided to explore somewhere where I've never been before. He was just on the border of hitting 10 so I thought going into a large ruin would be an ideal way to push it over the edge. Also I was really curious. It was an area where there was a lot of corruption, it's an effect that lowers your maximum hit points and stamina pool. It can only be reversed with a NPC called a dancer of which I had three back at base. In previous games I've not had a dancer so have never braved any areas of corruption and in all honesty probably shouldn't have done it with a pet. Generally these areas are for high level play, with some really scary boss monsters in and this place was no exception. My pet and I were wrecking the various skeletons that were inside but he went off in a slightly different direction and attracted the attention of the big, humongous snake that was guarding the area. Yeah, he died, and so did I a few moments later. That thing bites hard! It was scary, and I won't be going back there anytime soon. But worst of all my now level 10 sabertooth Claw died! I was very upset and promised his brother I would be more careful. I took Fang out and began levelling him up, this time staying to the places I know and feel confident in. I managed to get him up to level 8 before I stopped, which wasn't too bad considering I didn't really do it with him for long. During my hunting with Fang, Sil came on line and explored the f*******n city, a large area of the map with many scary monsters roaming around, including dragons. He managed to get himself killed and re-spawned back at base just as I was getting back too. So he suggested that he'd have better luck making it through if I came with him. I agreed as I needed some missions which were in that area too. With two of us it wasn't hard to deal with the dangers in the area, if anything the NPCs in the area were more dangerous than the dragons and skeletons. We had to run away from one group else I'm fairly sure they would have killed us.
After we got back to base I was a little bored of waiting for things to refine and it was also nearly bedtime so I didn't really have any time to do any building. Sil logged off as did Pyro and Xander who were in voice with us, so I stopped too. While I waited for David to get home I talked to Pyro about our characters in the D&D Eberron game. We were trying to get them into a relationship, and not having much success in the area in real life, Pyro was asking how best to go about getting my character to like his character. It was an interesting conversation, though I think his biggest problem was impatience, he wants it to happen soon rather than letting it develop naturally. Either way it will be entertaining to watch and play with actually in-game.
