Today was a good day, relatively speaking. Though it didn't start off the best. Due to David's mum smoking so much we tend to keep many of the doors in the house closed to try to contain it as much as possible. This means restricting the cats to particular parts of the house at night so they can still get in and out. During the summer however we don't do any of this as she will have her window open and keep her door shut which is enough to keep it largely out of the house. The cats have gotten used to this and like to sleep in the living room so now we are keeping the door closed they whine to be let in. It's been a week or so that we've shut them out of the living room at night so they have learned that they are not allowed in there. However that doesn't stop them from trying. Today, the moment I opened the door Mary dashed in before I could stop her and the way she dashed under the sofa just proves she knew she wasn't supposed to go in. Of course she then made it as difficult to grab her out as she could, hoping, I would assume, that I would give up and let her stay. Unfortunately for her I'm just as stubborn as she is and I knew I couldn't leave her locked in the room with no way out, so after several minutes of reaching for her I managed to corner her and grab her scruff. She made a very mournful meow as I pulled her out, like I was taking her away with the intent to kill her or something. Silly cat. Sometimes they seem so intelligent then others they really don't. Either way, after that fiasco, I managed to get showered, dressed, and ready to go to work on time and was fine until I stepped outside. It was raining. Yay, I just love to ride in the rain. Luckily it was only a drizzle as I got on the bike and made my way to work and I only got a little damp in places. Today I was back on the deli counter and as I walked into the office to sign in, I was rather unhappy with the position. But I took a breath and got on with it. Apparently yesterday was just as bad as Wednesday so I did everything I could to prepare for another busy day. My first problem of the day was whoever shut down the previous day hadn't managed to clean up properly, so I almost had to do a mini close routine before I could get everything sorted for opening. Thankfully it wasn't too bad and got it done quickly, but it was still very irritating. As the first orders began to trickle in I felt ready for the day, the only things I was short on was bacon beans and baps. Thankfully the kitchen pulled through on the first two and I ended up not needing as many baps as I was expecting. The only other issue I had in the morning was that one customer who just had to order something long before it was ready. Thankfully they were happy to wait, unlike some who might make a fuss over it.  As the day moved on the trickle of orders became a steady stream, but never the torrent I was expecting. It was a good steady day, and Stef even left me alone. The only time we interacted was when he took over while I went on break, and just as before he didn't listen to a word I said during the change over. To start with he'd made half an order that I'd left for him and never sent it out, and he made another order that I'd already sorted. I just don't get his problem, but whatever the reason, he basically did nothing while I was gone and left a table to go hungry for all that time too. So coming back I had to sort that whole mess out and apologise to the customer etc. Thankfully they didn't mind too much and were just happy to finally get their food. After that there was a small rush of orders leading up to close time, but it was still perfectly handleable. Finally close down went smoothly and everything was cleaned and shut down perfectly on time. Getting home was another wet ride, but again I seemed to miss the worst of it. Like always I drove slower than on a dry day but unlike Wednesday I didn't have any idiots too close to my back. In fact the roads were pretty empty and if it wasn't for the rain it might have been a nice trip home. Getting in and out of my gear happened quickly as it's not exactly pleasant to be moving around in wet gear. Finally I sat down at the PC and could relax for a moment. David was telling me how there was a TV program he really wanted to see on Netflix which is leaving in a few days but he ended up not being able to watch it as it made him feel really uncomfortable. He couldn't really explain why and I felt bad that I couldn't help in any way. So, I did the next best thing, I teased him about it a little. It's my way of trying to make light of the situation. I'm not sure it worked perfectly but I don't think he was that annoyed.  While he was talking I logged on to ESO to collect my event rewards. David is so good to me, not only does he do his own bits, but on my work days he also does mine. Logging on I found that he'd already claimed everything for me but swore he didn't remember doing so. We had a good laugh over that one. It's funny how the memory works, especially when doing something repetitive.  After that little moment I got the Conan server running and logged on. My friends had a D&D session today that I wasn't part of, since I'm not interested in the setting they are playing in. So yet again I was on my own continuing to gain more levels than them. I think at this point i'm basically double what they are. Oh well their problem, not mine. It's not like I'm trying to be better, I guess I just enjoy the game more than them. Today was a day of collecting resources. That's all I did all evening, mining, killing a few things and exploring for better mining spots. I think I now have everything I need for my new northern base though, I just need to wait for it all to refine into the better materials so I can make the parts that I want. After I was sure I had enough of everything I closed it all down, fed the cats, or should I say cat as only Ramsey was about, and headed to bed. It was a bit later than normal, but I think it was worth it to get everything I wanted done, done.
