Boys Down The Road

709 Words
I went out to the car to get my back pack, I seen a red renegade jeep drive by, and slow down. I closed the car door to head back into the house, the jeep had turned around and pulled into our driveway. At first I thought someone my parents knew, til I seen the driver of the jeep get out. He was maybe eighteen, longish light brown straight hair, tall, built, and greenish/ blue eyes. He walked over to me "Hey, I see you guys just moved here, I wanted to properly introduce myself, I'm Blake Pyne, and this is my brother Zack" he said pointing his head towards the car whom had his head down, before handing his hand to me "Hi, I'm Sammy Axton" I replied as I shook his hand. Zack made eye contact, he had dark brown wavy hair "Zack man, come on get out of the car" Blake said opening up the car door. I could hear Zack mumbling. I gave a smile. Zack stood up, he was a little bit shorter than Blake, and he had hazel eyes. He rubbed his hand through his hair giving a shy smile. "Sorry, he's a bit shy. Especially when it comes to girls" Blake said elbowing Zack in the ribs. I giggled "It's okay, I'm kind of shy around guys too" I replied. "So, today your first day here?" Blake asked "Yeah, we just got here not even a half hour ago" I said. "Where did you move from?" he asked. "Barrie" I answered looking between both brothers. Zack was totally trying to figure me out with his eyes, he stood there like a statue. "You guys grow up here?" I asked looking at Zack back. "Yes, we actually just live around the curve in the log house" Blake said pointing down the road. We didn't have close neighbors, which was nice honestly. We were really close to the beach as well. Benefits to moving from the city. "Listen, if you ever want a tour of the small town, or want to hangout, we would gladly step in. Most people here are actually really nice" Blake said giving me a smile "I'd like that" I replied returning the smile. I heard my parents coming out of the house so I turned around. "Oh look, Sammy already made new friends" Mom said walking over to us. "Mom, this is Blake and Zack" I said pointing to each of them. "Nice to meet you I'm Audrey, and this is my husband Jim" she said shaking both there hands. Blake was chill, I could tell he was protective of Zack, who was either really shy, or antisocial. I wasn't sure which one yet. "We live just down the road, we seen the car here, and wanted to give a warm welcome" Blake said. "That's awfully nice of you" my mom replied". Dad shook there hands but didn't say much as always. "We should get going, I know you guys are still getting unpacked and settling in, Sam would you like to come hangout tomorrow?" Blake asked. "Yeah sure, I'll give you my number" I replied getting my phone out of my back pocket of my beige shorts. "Sweet, I'll be in touch tomorrow then" he said walking over to the drivers door and getting in. "It was nice meeting you" Zack said opening up the car door "You too" I said giving him a smile. There was something about him. I really hoped him and I would become friends. I felt like if I could break the walls down of his awkward quiet side, he would be someone I would cherish with my life. They backed out of our driveway, tooted the horn before going down the road towards there house. I felt warm inside like all the negative energy inside was being lifted. I felt Mom place her hands on the back of my shoulders "They seem nice" she said. "Yeah, they do" I said giving her a smile, looking in the direction they went. Mom seen I was happy, for the first time in months she gave me a tight hug. "Let's go eat, I'm starving" she said. I nodded and followed her into the house.
