CHAPTER 14 Claire woke up feeling cold. She was disoriented at first. It was dark with only a faint glimmer of light getting through the crack in the shutters. Shutters, yes, that was it. The wind had rattled the windows, so she had closed the shutters against the world. Then she had got out of all her wet, cold, sweaty and dusty clothes until she was stark naked. She had wrapped herself in a large blanket from one of the armchairs and sat down in front of the fire she had lit to eat and drink. She was in the library. Claire was back where she had started.
