Beau
Usually my wolf, Ram was the quiet type. Especially, since we no longer had a mate bond. But since setting his eyes on Dayanira, he was becoming protective of her. She was to be Magnar's surrogate, he seemed to be more willing toward the idea now. With her being injured, I was sure that was the reason Ram was pacing and refusing to talk to me.
I had called Candice and she was on her way. Magnar, had only a few friends in his Warlock circle that were aware of his s****l preferences, one or two of them had been with him through the last four or five centuries. Being tied to Magnar had extended our own life.
There was something about Dayanira that made not only me, but Ram as well want to be close to her. I no longer had a mate bond, so it couldn't be that. Perhaps, I felt protective of her, because she had been mistreated. As I started to gather a few things I knew they would need. A greenish purple portal opened up in the kitchen and Candice and her partner Mira walked through. Candice was 5' 2", bright green eyes, wavy dark blue hair, and golden colored skin. She was very confident, in her abilities as a healer herself. Mira was taller at about 5'6, dark red eyes, curly dark hair and chocolate skin.
"Hello, Beau its a pleasure to see you again. I suppose you know why he had you call us?" Candice asked me as she raised an eyebrow at me.
"We rescued the woman that may be our surrogate from Collector's tonight. She was injured while escaping from them. According to Magnar he's going to need extra help to heal her." I said in a serious tone.
Both women gasped at the mention of the Collector's. In the past the Collector's were a group of Nephilim's that looked down on the rest of the Fae community as being beneath them. Now a days, the Collector's were Fae from all dominations, that felt they had been wronged by their own.
"Oh, that poor woman. Take us to Magnar and her and I will see what I can do to help her. Candice replied to what I had just said.
"They are just down the hall here." I replied as I motioned for the two female Warlocks to follow me.
I should have warned Candice and Mira of the state they would find Magnar. It had been almost eight hours since we had stumbled across Dayanira as she darted in front of our car. Despite having just come off an eighteen hour work shift, Magnar had refused to hear me when I told him he needed to rest. I was hoping since Candice was such a powerful healer I was hoping that he would back down and let her work.
If he refused then there was a chance that he had found what he thought was lost to him, his mate. I couldn't deny that I was feeling pulled toward the young woman as well. It just couldn't be a mate bond for me, I reasonecd again. As the bond to my mate had been broken the second I had agreed to be Magnar Kanye familiar. But Ram, kept insisting there was something there.
Out of habit I knocked on his bedroom door, before entering. Candice looked at Magnus's determined features, before turning to look at me and check me over with a fine tooth comb. Her mate Mira just smiled as she watched Candice check me over.
"He's been siphoning energy from you. If he takes to much he could kill you." Candice said in a serious tone, her playful manner from earlier gone.
"If it means Magnar and Dayanira would be alive then I'll risk it, thanks." I said as I walked farther into the room.
I then started to approach Magnar. I was hoping my voice alone would break through his determined focus.
"Magnar, it's Beau. Candice and Mira are here to help. But you have to stop and let them take over." I said in the gentlest tone I could muster.
His normally brown eyes were now their brilliant glowing gold. When I didn't get a response from him, I reached out intertwined the fingers of my right hand in his left. Suddenly, his fingers squeezed mine back and I felt him fall back against my chest.
"You need a recharge." I said being ready to let him siphon power from me.
"No Beau I've taken enough from you today. I will just have to sleep a little today to recover." Magnar said to my reply.
I felt Ram step forward wanting to see Dayanira. There was still a good size wound in her abdomen, but Ram and I both knew that Candice and Mira would be able to heal her. All of the bruises and cuts that had marred her beautiful form were gone now.
"You've done a good job with her. You've been healing humans and other Fae all day. You can't expect yourself to heal her fully without rest of some kind." I praised Magnar as if this was any other patient we were healing.
"It would seem that Dayanira, has caught your wolves attention. Very interesting." Magnar said his eyes glowing gold as he continued to watch us.
To my surprise Ram gave our neck to Magnar as we would an alpha wolf.
"We would never dreaming of desiring something that was your's." Ram bit out in a rough voice.
The next thing we knew Magnar let surprisedly hearty laugh.
"Relax Ram, you to Beau. Dayanira isn't mine. After what just happened to her I'm not even sure she will want to still be my surrogate. Everything will be completely up to her." Magnar said in response to Ram's reaction.
'You silly beast.' I chided my wolf. 'You had me worried over nothing.'
Ram had gone quiet so I knew he was feeling a little embarrassed.
"I've never seen you the way you were today. I wasn't sure I was going to be able to pull you back." I said in concern.
"I'm truly sorry my friend. Her magick isn't like anything I've ever felt before. So many scars are etched across her soul, yet she some how found the will to go on. There is something that kept pulling me to her."
Magnar confessed.
My forest green eyes widened at hearing his words.
"You felt it too." I asked in surprise.
I then felt myself looking in Dayanira's direction again as Candice and Mira worked on healing her.
Three hours later, Candice and Mira came to tell us how things were going.
"We've closed up all her remaining wounds, and started a magical IV of goodies that should have her feeling like herself in a day or two." Candice said as she gave both Magnar and I a soft smile.
"Now the two of you make sure to call or send for us if you need anything else." Mira said in turn.
"We mean it Magnar, it's what true friends are for. You and Beau shouldn't have to try to do so much alone." Candice chided once more, before snapping her fingers and making a glowing green and purple portal appear.
Candice turned to look at us one more.
"Oh there's one more thing. She's a Nephilock a child of a Nephilim and a Warlock. Also extremely rare as some don't survive birth."
