CHAPTER THREE

Over here Alex replied, leading his grandma by the hands to the other side of the room where Bella lay.

Elder Mar was a 75-year-old Woman. One of the wisest and most popular women in the Zumba Region. She was Alex and Jane's Grandma. She came from a lineage of Seers and herbalists. She was known for her high knowledge of nature and how it works. Everyone liked Elder Mar. She had a beautiful smile and even at old age she was hospitable and could cook very well. She lived alone as she didn't want anyone to live with her.

She was also highly respected and reverenced by everyone.

She went to where Bella lay and opened her eyes to check if there was. Something she will find out. She felt her palm and her feet. She used two of her fingers to check her pulse.

"She is still alive" She announced

"Get me the basket and bring out the leaves"

"Okay, Ma'am.."

"From my check, she has been poisoned. I can see through her eyes how some friends poisoned her after a birthday party and dumped her body where you found her".

"We need to save her life. Prepare the leaves and bring them to me".

The Fire was set behind Alex's house and as soon as the leaves were carefully prepared, he presented it to his grandma.

"This is it Ma'am"

Elder Mar forced the Juice from the leaves down her throat making sure that she swallowed them by closing her nose. She always applied a balm on her body that could help her regain consciousness.

"Here, Give her this Juice when the Sun sets. She will regain consciousness tomorrow morning". Elder Mar said to Alex handing over the remaining Juice from the leaves to him.

"My mission here is over"

"Thank you, Ma'am…Let me take you home".

"No…don't worry son. You need to stay back to take care of her". Elder Mar said

"Please, Grandma, Let me help you". Alex insisted

"Don't worry son..Collins will soon leave…You need to stay back to take care of her".

"Thank you, Grandma". Alex said, hugging her.

"You are welcome, Son. Don't forget to give her the Juice".

"I won't Ma'am"

Collins left a little while after Elder Mar

"I will check on you two tomorrow". He said to Alex

"Thank you, Friend. Bye"

Alex further went about his daily duties And while the sun set, he went to where he placed the Juice to serve the Princess. He successfully pushed the Juice down her throat Just as his Grandma had instructed and also applied a balm on her.

Throughout the night he couldn't sleep as he prayed to his gods to revive the young woman.

The songs of the mosquitos and the night creatures kept him company and while he eagerly waited for Bella to wake up, he busied himself with making brooms from the palm fronds he had gathered as that was what he usually occupied himself with when he was not hunting or checking on his traps.

Without knowing, he dozed off when the Midnight fall called. He placed his mattress close to Bella as he slept.

The c**k Crowed and the Morning laughed hysterically indicating that it was going to be a bright day.

Bella's eyes lit open and for a few seconds, she thought that she was dreaming, she felt an instant excruciating headache that came from the right side of her head. She tried to Jerk up immediately adding to the fact that her new environment was not a familiar one. She knew nobody nor remembers many things.

She looked by her side and saw a strange human lying close to her. As she tried to figure out where she was and what she was doing there. Her body touched Alex and he took some up.

"You are awake? Are you alright?" Alex asked excitedly, touching her hands.

“Who are you and how did I get here?" She asked, surprisingly pushing his hands away from her.

Meanwhile all these while, the Silver Crest Kingdom has turned upside down in search of their princess.

“How can you tell me that the Princess asked you not to come looking for her and you agreed to that?" The Alpha queried Jamen Furiously.

Alpha Daph was the last person to Joke with. He was a very mean and strict leader. He never hesitates to serve anyone the punishment that they deserve. He spares no one and his rules were never flaunted. Jamen prayed silently in his heart that the Alpha would not decide to kill him.

An instant search was announced and all hands were on deck in search of the princess . For a second, the Alpha regretted letting his daughter have a public party and swore to himself never to allow that ever to happen. The Beta, the Queen was more worried than everybody and all she knew how to do was to cry.

“I give you two hours to bring my daughter home alive or I kill you"....Alpha threatened Jamen.

After the fruitless search for two days, All the friends at the party were summoned to the Castle

and one after another was given a terrible stroke by the Alpha's guard including Ethella before they were questioned.

“Where is my daughter? She has been missing for two days now ... Alpha Daph asked.

A hand was lifted from one of them lying on the floor.

“Great Alpha, I have something to say"…" Ethan said.

“Fast…." He commanded

“Sh…She..left before every one of us……."

Her friend began to strike her palm to remember that a lie against the Alpha is a beckon on death but it seems as if Ethan preferred to lie to the Alpha and save her life rather than collecting the malicious strokes……

"She is the one…Sh…She gave the Princess the wine that she took that night" Lily said pointing at Ethella who was lying confused at one corner of the Castle.

"Yes, Great Alpha, I am a witness to that…I saw her myself" Ethan supported

"Bring her here" Alpha commanded as the chief steward brought Ethella closer to where the Alpha sat.

"What wine did you give my daughter and where is she "?

"No..No..Great Alpha"…Ethella stammered

"Shut up and answer my question"

"I gave her the wine that was specially reserved for her and I left before the party ended"

"Why did you leave before the Party of your best friend ended"? Alpha Daph asked

"If you are not running from anything" he further added

"No Great Alpha..An emergency called and I had to leave"

"So where is Bella now"?

"I am confused too, Great Alpha…I do not know her whereabouts. Ethan, Lily, and some other friends may know…"

"You have the guts to stand in my presence to tell a lie. You have no justification for giving a glass of wine to your friend and leaving almost immediately" The Alpha thundered

"Did you poison her drink?"

"No…No…Never…Great Alpha, I can't hurt a fly talk more of my dear friend Bella"

"Well, you have no evidence".

Junia was there and although she was pricked in her heart to talk, she didn't want the Alpha to either get angry or count her as an accomplice. She knew she saw Ethan and her friends take Bella home that night and wondered why they didn't speak up.

"Zuna, Lock her up after giving her the bearing of her life".The Alpha thundered.

Ethella was dragged into the dungeon after being severely beaten by the Chief steward

"I am Innocent" She pleaded

"The Alpha doesn't think so," the steward answered.

The Alpha commanded that every other person be properly beaten and sent home.

When She went home, she had tons of sleepless nights and she decided in her heart to walk up to the alpha the next day with a revelation of where the Princess was.

Right in Alex's Chambers

"My name is Alex, the most skilled hunter in this whole Zamba Region and…." The hunter answer

“Spare me all that unnecessary introduction and tell me how I got here" Bella interrupted Sharply.

“I'm sorry for what and how you feel but I saw you close to dead on the path that leads to where I checked my trap and I wondered what a fine woman like you was doing in the forest covered with leaves and I sensed that you needed help and that's why you are here" Alex explained.

“I…Forest…Why…How…"? Bella asked, barely remembering anything that had happened the previous day.

“My people should be looking for me by now, I need to go now" " she said to him trying to lift herself out of the mattress.

“You can't go anywhere until your medications are over, I will only release you when you are fine…." Alex said.

“Tell me what you remember," Alex asked.

Well, the last thing I remember was that I had taken wine that my friend gave to me…" Bella answered

Alex was the most skilled and powerful hunter in the entire Zamba Region. He was the head of hunters in his community and highly respected. He was also one of the most dreaded humans as he was known to be one of those few to have fought face-to-face with the biggest Monsters and won. His expertise as a hunter has exposed him to many dangers and in different ways prepared him for the worst.

The only thing he knew how to do well was to fight battles and win. He came from a family of warriors and they never take “No" for an answer.

He had an impeccable nose that stood tall while he walked. It complemented his curly hair and straight legs. He was the hottest Male in the entire Zumba. He came from a family of Great and revered people.

While Bella lay on his mattress, he noticed how neatly arranged his chambers were, from the details of his Book Shelf to his dress area and every aspect of his chambers. She forgot why she was there and began to admire the excellence of the arrangement. It reminded her of her former Maid, Kira, and how excellent she made her Chambers look. Ever since the Alpha expelled Kira from the Castle because she got pregnant outside wedlock, Bella hasn't been able to find a maid as worthy as she was.

“Your breakfast is ready, I will have to be on my way to check one of my traps" Alex announced and left already.
