Midnight Prey

Emma I could hear my ears ringing, my heart beating at the speed of light. My body drenched in sweat with constantly fighting off the darkness. He is coming to get you Emma, run faster or he will catch up and, and you know what he will do, don’t you? No, no please. My scream rang in my ears. I tried to block them out with my palms pressed against my ears. Emma, my sweet little Emma.  Taunted someone far away in the darkness. The cruel chuckle echoing in the emptiness. Empty. That’s what darkness is, it is empty and cold and lonely and sad. There was a sudden hollow silence. I could feel the silence absorb inside me.  I could feel its evilness creep inside by bones and press hard until I let out a loud scream.  My body jerked forward and I woke up with someone shaking my shoulders hard.  My wide eyes searched frantically around the room and landed on my mom's warm and worried eyes. ''It was just a nightmare sweety.'' My mom's soft voice reached my ears.  ''Mom..'' I tried to speak through wobbled lips and heavy breaths but it seemed like there was a pressure at the back of my head that kept tingling and trying to make me aware of its presence. I felt the pressure rise and my body collapsed in my mom's awaiting arms.  ________________________________________________________________ Hey, my beautiful readers!
