Chapter 36

Crow was turning his car on, when his phone began to ring. He looked at the caller ID. Jane? He answered, putting the phone to his ear, “Did you find something?” “Crow, you need to get here. Now! Quickly!” She had a tint of worry in her voice. Crow, in response, threw his transmission into reverse and pulled out of the driveway. He then forced it into drive and slammed the gas pedal, speeding down the road to the mansion of Edolas. He dodged several other cars on the road, along with several pedestrians. When he got to the mansion, Jane came to meet him. “What’s going on?” he asked, fear filling him. She handed him a piece of paper. Crow took it and looked at it. He gasped. It was a black and white photograph of Airi, in her dress, bound to the bed by shackles. He was suddenly reminded of his mother, specifically the last time he saw her. He turned over the picture to see if something was written behind it. There wasn’t. He scowled," Just what the hell was the point in sending me this picture?! He looked at Jane, “Did you see who dropped this off?” She shook her head, “if I did, they would be tortured until they told me her location.” He nodded, he felt the same. “Mind if I keep the picture?” Jane gave him a look of disgust, “why do you want to keep it? Don’t tell me you’re into that kind of stuff.” He jumped up from the seat, “Hell no! I… I just get the feeling that this wouldn’t be the only thing that bastard would send me. He must be planning something.” “Wait, do you think that there’s some kind of hidden message in there?” “Yeah, like invisible ink or something.” “What makes you think that?” Crow looked down, “Hope, I guess.” Jane placed her hand over his shoulder, “We’ll find her, I promise you.” Crow nodded, “I know we will.” “I’ll go ask Edolas if we have anything that could see if there’s invisible ink.”
