Crow began to cook curry again. He chopped the vegetables with precision, making every onion, carrot, and bell pepper bite sized. The beef was cut slightly larger than the vegetables and all were tossed into the frying pan with a bit of oil.
Airi had stood behind him watching as he cooked, a look of astonishment on her face.
“You only did this one other time and you already memorized how to make it?”
“Yeah, mostly because it tasted good,” Crow laughed.
Fifteen minutes after pan-frying the food, the kitchen filled with the aroma of cooked vegetables with a hint of darkening beef.
“That smell is much stronger than it was last time you were cooking it…” Airi softly spoke as her mouth began to water.
Crow stirred the food, making the aroma stronger.
“A-are you almost done, I’m starting to really starve.” her statement was made more true by her growling stomach.
“Sadly not yet,” he pulled out a pot and filled it with water. “I still have to boil them and add the sauce.”
He poured the contents of the frying pan into the pot as the water was brought to a boil. He let the pot boil as the aroma slowly dissipated. He stirred the food occasionally; the time not spent stirring, being spent looking at Airi.
So I have a week until the actual dance huh? I wonder what kind of dress she’ll be wearing.
“What’s going through your head with all those stares? You’re not undressing me with your eyes now are you?”
Crow turned around to his cooking and kept stirring his food, red covering his face as he replied. “N-no I wasn’t!”
Airi laughed, “Yeah I know you weren’t, I’m just messing with you.” She stuck her tongue out at him.
He turned off the heat as he noticed the meat becoming tender and added the sauce blocks, stirring constantly until they melted. After they finished melting he turned the heat back up and stirred. It wasn’t until he finished the curry that he realized something.
He had forgotten to make the rice!
“Ah crap!” he spontaneously yelled.
“What happened?” Airi jumped.
“I forgot to make the rice!”
Airi swiftly moved from the counter to the cupboards and grabbed the rice cooker. “On it!”
She grabbed the rice from the closet along with the oil and the salt from another cupboard.
Crow smiled, “I’ll teach you how to make it.”
He walked to Airi gently taking everything in his arms and to the counter near the rice cooker.
