I Come With News For The Alpha.
Michael's POV.
There was the look I liked to see. The look of uncertainty smearing the defiant expression on her face.
She knew she was in trouble. Real danger. She was super predictable to think that I wouldn't be aware that she'd try to sneak out.
But what I really wanted to know was how she got so close to the gates undetected. No guards spotted her, she didn't bump into any maid. It seemed orchestrated.
The type of plan that had taken weeks to plot. I knew she wasn't the one who mapped it herself, someone else did it for her.
“Who plotted with you?” I asked as she trembled on the bed.
She crankled her cuffs and wriggled her feet on the bed. “You have to let me out of these. I can't stay chained to the bed all day.”.
“Yes you can. You will stay here as punishment for trying to sneak off. Don't you know that you're mine,”
“You don't even like me,” she spat out. Why do you want to keep me around when you hate my guts,”
I bit my lips and looked away. Even if I didn't want her around, I needed her safe for the prophecy. I… the pack needed her much more than she thought.
“That's not what I asked you!” I snapped. “I asked you, who gave you coordinates to try and escape.”
“Nobody!” She replied with a time of finality. “I did that myself. I plotted all of it myself,”
Her heart beat changed rhythm. She was lying and we both knew it. She couldn't even look me in the eyes.
“One more lie from you and you'll earn yourself a day in my darkest dungeon. Don't think for one second that I can't do that,” I threatened, leaning closer with an icy look.
Her heart pounded against her chest and she blinked excessively, ridden with fear and discomfort.
“Tell me the damn truth! Where were you running to?”
“Away from here. I was running away from here, and I have told you… nobody helped… helped me,” she uttered with hesitation. Her hands clutched and her breath hitched.
“I see you've made your decision already,” I rose up, snapping my fist.
She pulled back but before I could point my fingers at her, a loud knock blared through the air.
“Who is that?” I growled.
“It's Donna, Alpha. I came with the doctor's report.”
What damn report? Come in” I ruffled my hair with my hands and paced in a circle for a few seconds.
She walked in with a paper in her hands and handed it to me. I read through it, glancing at Vivienne as she widened her eyes in curiosity.
“The pack doctor wrote this?” I inquired.
“Yes Alpha. He said she hit her head pretty bad and would need constant check up. Also, the bruises she had… last night. Anymore hard treatment and she might fall sick”
“Bullshit!” I muttered, squeezing the paper in my hands.
I turned to her and tossed the paper to the ground. I wouldn't want anything bad to happen to her in my care. She was special and a rare piece. Literally.
“Count yourself lucky,” I said to her.
“Guards!” I thundered into the air. Two of my guards stormed in and stood before us. “An hour from now, give this lady the key to her cuffs.”
“On no account should my Luna be left alone. Guard her at all times and if she tries to sneak off,” I darted my eyes at her. “Break her legs if you have to stop her,”
She gasped in fear as my guards shot back a positive response.
That was meant to scare her and if she took it seriously, then it was a bonus for me.
I stormed out of her room after passing my warning.
The threats worked better than I expected. She never tried to escape, at least for the two days that happened to pass by. She spent most of her time in her room and never left unless I called for her.
A few more days passed and everything seemed pretty normal. Stephen still hadn't returned from the mission I sent him but he had dropped reports that he had gotten close.
I was sitting in my throne room, attending to some discussion with a few elders about rogue attacks. I got a call notice from a guard that I had visitors.
Weird. I wasn't expecting visitors and not in an uneventful, sunny afternoon.
“Let them in,” I said, curious to find out who it was.
Until she stepped in with a woman behind her.
“Greetings Alpha. It's been a long time.” She greeted.
Brianna Thorne stood before, eyes darted and hands clasped.
My blood simmered in my veins. Worse, her cunning smirk infuriated me. Her family had tricked me into thinking she was who I wanted her to be.
“What are you doing here, Brianna?” I roared, slamming my hands against my armrest. “I thought I made it clear that I never want to set my eyes on you again”
“I got it clear the first time,” she replied. Confidently.
“Then what are you still doing standing here? I don't take it easy with fraud,”
“I am not a fraud,” she clipped. “There must have been a mix up interpreting my bloodline, but it doesn't change the fact that we have been blessed by the moon goddess,”
“What blessings?” I arched my brows.
She rubbed her stomach and a light smile beamed in her face. “This blessing, Alpha. I am pregnant,”
A silent gasp seeped out of my mouth as my jaw dropped to the floor. “That's impossible,”
“I thought the same too, but here I am, Alpha. I am with your child,” she said.
At that moment, Vivienne happened to be passing by, and as soon as she saw Brianna standing before me, she rushed in our direction, her eyes blank yet eager to know what was happening.
