Jitters in the Alpha's presence. Michael's POV. She trembled as I laid my eyes on her. I could hear her knees shaking terribly as Stephen blocked her way through. The maid behind her bowed her head repeatedly and Stephen moved aside for Vivienne to walk in. She didn't look much like I thought she would. Her first appearance was unimpressive to me, I had almost forgotten the reason I brought her to my palace. She took a step in and glanced back at Stephen, but he was already far away across the hall as he marched out to complete his assignment. She took yet another step closer, her hands clasped behind her waist. She locked eyes with me and quickly looked away. “I don't remember requesting your presence, what are you doing here?” I asked, watching as she flinched and pressed her lips together. “I… I… wan… want,” “Speak louder, I don't have all day,” my voice vibrated through the walls, thick and cutting. She straightened her posture, taking a deep breath. “I came to talk to you,” she heaved, squaring her shoulders like a rebel. “Leave,” I ordered. She widened her eyes, her lips curling downwards as she crossed her hands and exchanged glances at the door. “I don't like to repeat myself,” I resounded. “But I…” she paused, sinking her fingernails into her thighs. She stepped back, stopping abruptly as she inhaled deeply. “If you are so disgusted to see me, then you shouldn't have forced my family into bringing me here,” she spat out, glaring hard at me. I narrowed my eyes at her, my ears perking up as I gripped the armrest of my throne with an immense force, causing a dent on it. “Ignorant, I see. Your life depends on you being here. I'd let you roam free to your death if I could but I can't. I have to babysit you like the ignorant little girl you are,” She gasped, staring back at the guards as she tried to double check if they witnessed my statement with her. As always, my guards stood like a statue, gallant and ready for any surprise attack. “How can you be so cold? My life was perfect before you stepped in. It seems like we are talking about different things… Alpha,” she stated, her palms sweaty. “I have no interest in whatever you want to talk about,” I stated. “Leave now or my guards will make you,” Her jaws dropped to the floor as she gaped at me. “You are unbelievable,” she muttered low enough, but I could easily make out the words due to my wolf's heightened senses. “Mutter all you want but do not disturb me.” I warned. “Guards, get this lady to her room!” “No, wait,” she rushed forward, raising her gown up to get on her knees. However, the guards grabbed hold of her before she could completely get on her knees. “You will be notified when I need you and that is only when you can come in. Don't for a second think you can walk in when I haven't asked you to, am I clear?” I thundered. She jerked and stopped struggling with the guards. They picked her up and when they were mere steps away from the door, her voice thundered in the hall. “Is this why you broke things off with Brianna?” That name reeled memories into my head, Memories I tried to forget. I tried to suppress. “Am I her replacement?” She continued, prompting the guards to stop and wait for my order. “I don't know what might have happened between you two, but you can't shut her out of your life and use me as a revenge plan. This is extreme,” her voice was pitchy and cracked. She yanked her right arm out of the guard's grip, her lips twisted in disgust. “I have only one question,” she held a finger in the air and heaved out. “Why me? Did she say too much about me and you thought it would be a great idea to…” “Silence!” I growled. She swallowed hard, clutching her hands against her chest. She had a defiant look on her face yet her heart hammered against her chest. At that moment, I knew she was going to be stubborn at her own expense. She was going to constantly get on my nerves and seek my attention. Nonetheless, if she was truly who her father claimed she was, then I was willing to let her live in the palace as my Luna. “You don't ask the questions here, young lady.” I spoke up. She refused to look away, instead, she gnashed her teeth at my reply. Her cheeks puffed up and her lips parted but only a mouthful of air seeped out. “Brianna's name is not to be mentioned in this place, her time with me is over,” I voiced. “Will my time be over too?” She clipped, clenching her fist. “Yes, faster than you think if you keep up this act,” I jabbed almost immediately. She gasped silently as her shoulders slouched inwards. “I'm just a fling too.” She gazed down at her feet, mumbling in horrid realization. “You wanna know why I picked you? You're special.” I paused, watching her face brighten up in confusion. “At least that's what I'm told. And Brianna, she isn't special, she isn't what I need.” I leaned forward from my backrest, my feet pushing down on the marbled floor. “But if you prove too tough to tame, I can always lock you up in your room till I have use of you,” She stood stiff in silence until the door opened up and Stephen walked in with three men, chained heavily on their arms. My eyes crinkled up with a smirk as Stephen dragged the weak and bruised prisoners trudging on their last breath. “What took you so long?” I asked. “One of them passed out, Alpha. I had to make sure he wasn’t missing out on the torture sesh,” Stephen replied. “Good,” I nodded, then, I moved my eyes to Vivienne, gesturing to the guards to take her out. They moved closer to grab her again, but she turned around, stomping her feet on the floor before they could hold her. She got to the door and pulled it open. With her back faced against the room, she stopped to stare at me once again as I stood up on my feet. I walked down the small flight of stairs and moved closer to Stephen. He handed me a dagger and a barbed whip. I poked my left thumb with the blade, satisfied as it made a small cut on my skin upon impact. “Not as sharp as I want it, but this ought to get the job done,” Leaning back and thrusting the whip at the first prisoner, a loud cry filled the air, shrill and piercing. But I wanted more. The cry wasn't enough for their heinous crimes.
