Easy never does it.
Vivienne's POV
Her voice had an ominous tune to it, almost as though she was predicting a possible future.
Well, it felt like it.
There was no way I was going to last.
Or so I thought.
My heart throbbed heavily, sweat built up on my face. She stared intensely at me as I blinked excessively, my mouth parting but without any voice.
Donna gazed in for close to a minute, then in a sudden nod, she bowed lower and shut her eyes.
“But of course, Luna. This is all hearsay.” She stated. “Only you have the power and choice to prove everyone wrong,”
I moved back until my waist leaned on the table and I placed my hands on it. “Leave. Now,” I thundered, snarling at her.
My knees trembled as she walked out, every step echoing deep in the room. Suddenly, I wasn't as hungry as I thought.
Suddenly, the Alpha's statement played like a radio in my head. “Faster than you think,”
What if this was his sign that I was only here until he got tired of me. His ultimate play thing until he had wrecked me.
“Vivienne. Vivienne!” Lysander growled as my breath came in heavy rounds. My chest pumped heavily and my hands clenched the tightest.
“Oh no,” I gasped. “No, no, no,”
I ran out of the room, distraught and hopeless for the thousand times in a day. My vision was a blur but I kept running until I was outside and close to the garden.
Then, I exhaled heavily, placing my hands on my knees as I shook my head.
“We're okay now,” Lysander whispered.
“Are we?” I murmured. “Are we really safe? I'm his damn bride and I can't even tell if he hates me or not.”
“He loathed my presence. I could see it in his eyes, I could feel it.” I continued. “I… I” My voice cracked as I slapped my hands on my head and moved a little deeper into the garden.
“Yes, I've seen her,” a whisper caught my attention.
“Luna? I heard she stayed in her room all day. She's too scared to face the Alpha… pretty bitchy if you ask me. How's she gonna escape him when he's heated?” another crackled, chuckling hard and loud.
“I heard she is a Robertson. Don't you know Vivienne? I bet you've seen her once or twice. She's always busy shopping. Guess she shopped her way into the Alpha's eye.”
My fear slowly morphed into restrained anger, building up slowly as they chattered on, unaware of my presence.
“I heard she backstabbed her friend just to get the Alpha's attention.” They continued. “All this for an infamous Lycan who wouldn't even love her. The Alpha's incapable of emotion.”
My blood boiled hot. I couldn't bear the gossip, the blatant lies and their obnoxious giggles.
“Sounds fun, right?” I growled.
They all jerked as I stepped out from the corner, my hands clenched and muscles tightened.
“Go on girls, don't let me ruin the fun. I'm sure it's a thrill talking about me,” my tone dripped with sarcasm.
They trembled with cold feet, their heads bowed and knees shaking.
“We are sorry, Luna. Forgive us,” the ladies fell face flat on the ground as they begged.
“You seem to be thrilled claiming I slept my way here,” I moved closer. “You think I'd want to be here of all places I could be? Don't you think I've heard the rumours about…”
“Please Luna, we are deeply…”
“Silence!” I thundered, my voice cutting deep into the air as I felt a part of myself tapping into my wolf's energy. My claws thrusted out desperate to tear off the living daylights out of them.
“Here's a rumor to run with, I hate all of you!” I screamed into the air, raising my hands to thrust it forward.
Seconds before I could lose control, a firm grip held my hands in the air. I tried to yank my hands out of its hold, but the grip only tightened, causing me to turn and stare in its direction.
“You again, are you following me or what?” I spat out, my shoulders squaring up in anger.
“You should give it a second thought before you dive head straight into something you'd regret.” Stephen replied.
I scoffed and he let go of me. Then, I clutched my hands over my chest. “You know, if I didn't know any better, I'd say he sent you to watch me,”
“As a matter of fact, Luna,” his voice croaked. “He did tell me to watch you,” he shot a stern look at the maids and blinked. “Guess Alpha's was right. Again,”
“They have to pay for talking trash about me,” I yelled.
“And they will, but I am certain the Alpha wouldn't like words traveling about his Luna being cold-hearted…. Woman,”
Shit!
Crap!
He was right. What was I thinking?
The people were going to hate me if I made the lives of these maids a living hell. I exchanged glances with the trembling maids and Stephen, my lips curling downwards as I realized he was right.
I raced out of the garden as fast as I could and slammed my door so hard that I could hear the sound echoing down the hall.
The night was cold even as I tossed around in my sheets to make me warm. The feeling of hopelessness kept me awake for the whole night until the sun came peeking out of the clouds.
The maids knocked on my door and I let them in. They walked in with a package, their steps weirdly calculative and almost rehearsed. I could feel their tense expression and shaky looks as I moved closer to them.
“Maybe he actually dealt with the maids,” I thought to myself.
I opened the package, shocked to see a stunning gown with a flowered veil attached to it. I tried to pick up the veil but the maid closed the package by accident.
Just as I was about to tell her I wasn't done looking at the dress, she slumped to her knees, breathing hard as she clasped her hands in tears.
“Please, it was only a mistake. Please, don't get rid of me!” She cried desperately, leaving me speechless for a moment
“What the f**k is going on with you?” I asked after a brief moment of shock.
