Ceremonial Robes and Vows

“No, no you will not. The only way you ever will is if your suitor is from your old pack. But don’t worry, your family benefits from you being here!” She smiled and clapped a little, more life in her voice than before. “And I take it you are five like the rest of your group, am I correct?” I nodded, feeling slightly better that at least my family would be happy. “I turned five yesterday. Mommy got me this pretty white dress to celebrate.” I stood up and twirled for her, trying to curtsy just like she had before. “I can see that you are super smart as well, Pearl. Continue to watch and learn the older girls and you’ll get places a lot faster. Just stay clear of the dark colored sashes; they’re nothing but trouble.” She raised her nose slightly as she looked over at Judie, shaking her head with a tsk. “Ladies, it is time to depart. Girls, bid your older sisters farewell.” “Goodbye sisters!” All of us shouted, some even blowing small kisses. “Let us show you to your rooms then. Tonight, we will have your welcoming ceremony and the farewell to this year’s graduating class! File in line please and take a hand again.” We did as we were told, Judie rushing to comply, a look of determination on her face as she remained quiet and more reserved from when we were on the bus. “Follow along now.” Misses Crow lead us down more hallways, more ladies curtsying at her and smiling at us as we passed them. I wanted to ask about the different color of sashes, but I dared not say a word. Right now, question time was over, my new big sister already gone for the day. “Here we are.. Pearl, Alice, and… Maybell. You three will be in Dove Home.” She pointed to a door with a light color dove on it, the light pink shimmer in the paint making it glow in the soft light of the hall. “A lady will be here in an hour to bring you to the ceremony, so behave.” “Yes, Misses Crow.” We all three chimed while I curtsied as well, receiving another smile from Misses Crow as she directed the rest of them to follow. I pushed open the door then, all three of us gasping when I did. There were three identical beds in a row, a single white trunk at the foot of each one and a small bathroom off to the side. There were dolls and a small dollhouse, a cooking area with lots of play food and a large light pink rug on the pristine white floor. “I call that bed!” Maybell pointed to the one closest to the bathroom, going over and jumping right into the soft looking sheets. “I’ll take the one at this end if it’s alright.” Alice twisted her hands together, digging the tip of her shoe into the floor. “That’s fine. I do not mind the middle. I’ll feel not as lonely that way.” “Don’t worry. You have me and a big sister now too!” Ally smiled, pulling me along to my new bed. “It looks soft, let’s see together if it really is!” “And you have me too, Pearl!” Maybell poked her head out of her blankets, making a small nest of the soft material. “Alright. That means that you both are my sisters now too.” I smiled at my new family, feeling slightly better. “Yay! Sisters! I get to go to the bestest school ever and I finally get a sister!” Ally squeezed with happiness, Maybell and me along with her. We didn’t play with any of the toys yet, especially after reminding my new sisters that we were told to wait, so we had to listen to what they told us to do. we took turns going to the restroom, fixing our sashes in the mirror, and even practicing a curtsy as I showed them how Mary did it. Soon our hour was up though, someone knocking on our door. “Come in!” We all rushed to stand on our carpet in a line, curtsying when Mary came into the room. “Hello future ladies!” She beamed at us, curtsying back. “Hello sister Mary.” Ally and Maybe said the same thing after me, playing our new game of copycat that I decided we should do. “Let us go to the Ceremony. Keep close together so you don’t get lost, and follow me.” Mary let us down more halls and passages, telling us that within the year, we would know the way to things as well. “Here we are; your table is in the front now, so be on your best behavior.” She shooed us along, going to her own table as well after waving goodbye. We went on ahead, seeing Misses Crow sitting with some of our other classmates already. “Ah, Pearl, sit right here. Since you are the class leader, you will play a special part in the ceremony.” “Yes, Misses Crow.” I curtsied and sat, the others soon finding their way to us as well. “Let us begin!” A woman walked out then from somewhere up ahead of us, a part of the wall that I thought was solid slid in half revealing a stage with chairs filled with older women and men watching over us. She had on a pure white dress, her hair a beautiful ruby red and a smile as light as a star. “Welcome new ladies and hello. I am Miss Dayglow, your head mistress.” “Hello Miss Dayglow.” We all chimed, making her laugh like a bell, the sound beautiful and light. “Hello, adorable little ones. Today is a very special day for us! We say hello to you,” she pointed at us, a light from somewhere falling onto our table. “And goodbye to our graduating class!” A soft clap went up from everyone then, a line of ladies filing onto the stage from a back room. They were robed in white, a hood over their heads as Miss Dayglow went to stand with them. “From the moment you arrive here you are given your sash. Not only does it denote your rank amongst you, but also keeps your wolf from arriving before it must. This is a crucial thing for you are all Omegas.” She smiled at us, letting our rank of a wolf run off of her tongue as she said each syllable with emphasis. “Omegas are so important to our species, being the only ones who can truly help our esteemed leaders and your future suitors; the Alpha Lords!” Another round of soft clapping went out, Miss Dayglow holding out a hand to make us all stop instantly. “Will the leader of our new class please come up?” She asked, Misses Crow placing a hand on my shoulder to usher me along. “Hello little ones, who are you?” Miss Dayglow smiled at me, making me blush as I curtsied to her. “Pearl Fiddle, Ma’am.” I kept my eyes down, feeling an aura come off of her that reminded me of my daddy when he was mad. “Hello, Pearl. Becky, Please step forward.” One of the hooded figures came to me, kneeling at my level. “Pearl, do you promise to try your best for your future suitor and your country to remain pure of heart, pure of mind, and pure of body until the day you are claimed?” The hooded figure asked me, making me nod my head. “I promise.” It was the last question my mommy had taught me, the one she said I had to remember the most. “Please take my cloak then as a symbol of carrying on the next generation.” The lady indicated her button just under her neck, letting me reach out and undo it. When I pulled it off of her I gasped slightly under my breath, seeing that she was naked.
