A Best Friends Betrayal

753 Words
Ever since my birthday my life had been hell I been in pain almost every night. I hadn't been to school since that Friday. My family had been trying to get me to tell them who my mate was but couldn't. One reason was how do you tell your brother his best friend and alpha to be was the one who rejected you but the biggest reason was that Evan had used his alpha voice to command me not to say that night he rejected. So couldn't tell them even if I wanted to. On top of everything else Amber has not come by to visit me once to see if I was okay. Jenna said she talks to her at school she says she's gonna come by but never doesn't even answer our texts or our mind link.  "Hey you okay", Jenna asks worry filled eyes. "Yeah I'm okay Just thinking", I tell her which isn't a lie I was thinking about everything that's happened. "Please don't tell me your thinking about him are you", she ask referring to my ex-mate. "Kind of but mostly I was wondering about Amber I mean she's supposed to be our friend but not once has she come here to congratulate you or check on me", I say sadly. "I know it's weird she's become really distant and I don't get it", she tells me. "I think I wanna go for a run and let Ariel out for a bit", I tell as I feel Ariel start bouncing with excitement at the thought. "Want me to go with", she asks making me shake my head. "No I'll be okay besides I could use the alone time to think", I tell her as she nods in understanding.  I had been running for about twenty minutes when I and Ariel smelt two scents we know so well. We started to run towards the scents I started to feel that all too familiar burning sensation in my stomach. No, she wouldn't do this to us she's our friend she wouldn't betray us like this I think just as reach the clearing and what see nearly kills me. Ariel let's out a heartbreaking howl at the sight of our mate and Amber half-dressed making out. Their eyes snap up and widen at the sight of us before I take off running as the last of my heart shatter.  I keep running for what feels like hours my had been screaming through the mind link for me to come back but I couldn't. Ariel and I couldn't stay any longer knowing our mate and one of my best friends was the cause of all my pain. I could hear paws behind us chasing us I knew people from my pack was chasing me either the alpha or my father had sent them either way we weren't going back. Suddenly I felt one of the warriors gaining on us, "Ariel we have to faster", I tell her making her nod in understanding. Suddenly I felt a rush of energy and just before the warrior could catch us we started running faster losing them quickly.  As we passed over the border I felt a snap within me it bothered me to leave my family but neither me nor Ariel could handle seeing those two together. Once we knew we were sure it was safe for us to stop running we stopped for a rest near a small stream. Ariel walk over and started drinking but still staying alert.  "Where do you think we should go", I ask her through the link. "I think we should go North I'm not sure why but I feel like there's something there for us", Ariel tells me. "If you feel like we should then let's go North I trust you we may have only just shifted recently but you've been with me since I was thirteen", I state truthfully knowing that if something is telling her to go then we should. After a good long drink and some hunting along with a nice rest to recover some energy we headed North. Me nor Ariel could have guessed what was about to happen but whatever was waiting for us we were determined to put our past behind us. So after some agreement, I said the one-sentence we had been putting off. "I Mia Daniels accept your rejection as your mate and Luna of the Black River Pack", I say feeling the snap of our bond-breaking finally freeing us.
