I watched them breath in and out and slowly I started to see fur growing. Alexis’ was coppery brown and Derecks’ more of a darker orangey- brown. Their forms changed and I heard their bones cracking in union.

A beautiful coppery wolf looked at me with this huge blue eyes that I loved so so much and directly by her side was a huge tiger purring at me. She looked so stunningly beautiful in her animal form. I was blessed with the most gorgeous daughter in existence and she got so much from Andrew. Can you see her my love? Wherever you are I am sure you would be so proud of her, I said to the love of my life.

I reached out to touch Alexis face but she stepped back and looked at Dereck, who in returned coaxed her into coming closer to me. She seemed to be afraid of her wolf, and not sure of what to do, so I sat on the ground and waited for her to do the first move. Slowly but with a steady pace she came closer to me and sat on the ground right in front of me. My whole living room was filled with two huge furry creatures and one of them was the apple of my eye. My purpose in life, my daughter. She stared at me as if she wanted to say something, so I tried to communicate with her: “Do you want me to come closer?”

She nodded and I continued to reduce the space between us until my legs were touching her fur.

Dereck seemed a little jealous because he placed himself right next to me on the other side and gave me his paw. “ Hahaha, Dereck you have more of a house cat than a wild predator.” He purred at me and tried to guide my hand to Alexis body. She flinched a little but then I was able to pet her and show her all the affection I wanted to show her. I felt a lot better with her being by my side and in this moment I decided to come with her to the other shifters and help her to find herself, to even connect with her father and maybe find happiness in her new life.

I stood up and tried to get up the stairs to my room but Alexis whimper made me turn around. “It’s okay my love, I’ll come back in a minute. I will pack some of your stuff and some of mine, together we are strong. Don’t ever forget that.”

Andrew, I know you are somewhere watching down on us. Do you see her? She is all grown up and ready for her own adventures.

I came back with a suitcase full of clothing, toiletries, some of Alexis books and most importantly a picture.

I showed it to Alexis and Dereck, who were already back to their normal humanoid forms.

“This is your dad, this photo was taken a few days before he left.., I mean before he died.”

Saying it out loud made his death so real and brought some tears back to my eyes.

Alexis eyes watered as well, as she took the picture in her hands and Dereck seemed to be thinking about something.

“I want revenge.” He said out of the blue.

“ Luise was the reason for the skin walker curse and Andrew accepted his fate as part of his punishment. He tried to live a better life, to help people but Luise had to come back and kill him. I know she was heartbroken but why after all this time. It just doesn’t make sense to me.”

“ Oh dear boy we women never forget and for her, seeing me was like a punch in the face. She wanted me not him” I started sobbing.

“She wanted to take his happiness, like he did in the past with hers but Andrew made the deal with her in order to protect me. Till this day Luise never showed herself to me and I am starting to think that she literally can’t hurt me. Before Andrew left with her, he said that she will not hurt me ever. Maybe they made some kind of a magical deal or something. I don’t understand these kinds of things.”

Dereck thought about it for a second: “A blood oath could be the reason for this. Maybe she knew that Andrew and his army of shifters would be able to do her harm, so she wanted to take Andrew out of the equation so badly that she agreed.”

“I don’t know that for sure and I don’t want to challenge my own luck. This woman is purely evil and I hope that I will never see her again.”

The kids nodded and we started to load the car with our most precious belongings

On our way to the Sanctuary as Dereck had called it he said:” You might not know it but your daughter is unique. Andrew saw her in his vision. He said that one day she would lead us. Moreover, she is the first shifter that was born and not made into one. I am really in awe of her.”

“Thank you. I think she likes you. So please be her friend and protect her when I can not do it.” I turned around and found Alexis sleeping on the backseat.
