Accepting the truth

After hearing Derecks story my head hurt, I had thousands of questions burning inside of me and wanted to let them all out. I was always alone with mother and learned a lot from her. She taught me to always ask questions, never give up and stay true to myself. Therefore, I continued, “Fine let’s say this legend is true! You still owe me an answer and don’t f*****g try to ignore the question.”

Dereck looked conflicted and hesitated to answer me. I was growing restless and tried to kill Connor and Dereck with my eyes, just to make sure that they know how pissed I was.

“ Ah.. you are here because I thought I saw you turn into a copper colored wolf when I hit you with the car,” Dereck said with a clearly embarrassed looking red face.

“Wait what did you say? Me turning into a wolf? Are you dumb or just out of your mind?”

Dereck looked over to Connor and the fox guy tried to come closer to my bed.

“Stop, no step further! Connor what do you want?

“Chill sweety, I want to enter your mind and see if Dereck is right. I promise I will not change anything about your memories,” he said.

This whole thing has to be a bad dream. I must be sleeping in my bed at home, dreaming about skin- walkers and supernaturals, I thought.

Connor closed his eyes again and I waited patiently for him to tell Dereck that he is a hallucinating dumbass.

When Connor opened his eyes, he looked confused, “Something is inside of her memories, but she is shielding them somehow. It is like a labyrinth, some ways I can go and some doors I can open but I can’t get through to one part of her memories. I can only see some copper fur laying on the ground of the maze.”

After this statement Dereck, Connor and I looked really confused and didn’t know what to do with the gathered information. My curiosity grew every second and I decided to believe the story that Dereck told me, because I saw him turning with my own freaking eyes and I must say: it was impressive.

“Guys I want to propose something to you,” I said.

Both Dereck and Connor raised their eyebrows and waited for me to continue, “I want to stay here and find out what memories are sealed within me and solve the mystery about the copper wolf, but I have one condition! I want you to answer all my questions and help me understand how the shape shifter pack works.”

Without hesitation Dereck said “Yes, deal you will stay,” with a little too much enthusiasm for my liking.

After Maya the sanctuary nurse or should I say doctor treated my head and showed me that she was a deer shape shifter with the ability of healing wounds and taking away some of the pain, she brought me to Derecks office.

“Knock, Knock, Dereck it’s me Maya and I have our guest Alexis with me. Do you want to join us for dinner in the dining hall?”

A few seconds later Dereck opened the door, he wore a different outfit than before and I had to admit that the white V line t shirt looked really sexy on his muscular chest. I felt my cheeks grow hot and turned around as fast as I could to lead the way to the dining hall. It took me about a second to realize that I had no clue of this building and I tried to make it look a little less embarrassing when I slowed down and followed Dereck trough endless corridors. The building was really old and made out of stone with gold decorations all over the celling. Animals where painted all over the walls with beautiful detail and colors. I saw elephants, tigers, lions and even racoons on my way to the dining hall.

Sitting next to Dereck and on the same table as Connor and Maya I couldn’t keep my mouth shut any longer, “So what does the part with the lost souls in your story mean, Dereck?”
