Ch 18 Connection

Chapter 18

I smiled at my friends who had finally gotten their freedom to express themselves back and the feeling was wondrous and I couldn’t help but revel in it because now we could be who we truly wanted to be. 

But as in a moment of bliss, the mind begins to wander, and then it makes me think back on my dream. Cadmars eyes flashed in my head sending a mental chill down my spine.

They say that when a werewolf dreams of encounters it is like a warning from the moon goddess who just wants all her children to live in peace. The goddess is said to be sorrowful that her children never get to live peacefully for long because fate is cruel and loves to gamble with life. 

It makes me wonder if I will ever have to see him again. I shudder at the thought and then think What would Stacy do at that moment and then another memory flashed through my mind and a sense of dread fills me 

What if I'm... Pregnant 

I feel as panic begins to set in. But goddess sent Isa speaks to me 

'Now is not the time to be weak Human'

'I'm not being weak Isa I'm scared' 

'Then you are being weak'

'I'm not it's normal to be scared for someone in our position'

'We are strong we will get through this Human'

'What if our mate never wants us Izz'

'Don't be silly human mate will love us'

'How can you be so sure' 

'Because that's what mates do Human love you no matter what'

'I know Izz no one dreams of having a damaged mate or a mate with a pup that isn't theirs'

'You don't know that'

'I do humans abandon their children and are never very kind to the ones that aren't their own flesh and blood' 

'It doesn't matter Human because we are strong'

'You are Isa I'm not because if I wasn't so weak I could have kept us safe and left sooner'

'Even so, it wasn't your fault you weren't whole yet so all your strength wasn't there... I wasn't there to help you fast enough. But none of that matters now because we are here where we should be'  

'What makes you so sure Izz?'

'Call it animal instinct'

'Smartass. Seriously?'

'I just know Human'

'Why don't you call me by my name'

'you have to earn it'

'How?'

'You’ll figure it out Human or I’ll do it on my own accord' 

and with that, she cut off our connection and my mind goes silent but no the silence doesn't last long no I feel a voice creep into my mind 

‘Xo…’

I knew who it was but I didn’t want to respond

‘Xo’

I continued to ignore it

‘yooh whoo’

I couldn’t help but want to roll my eyes ‘

Xo hurry up me and Xi aren’t getting any younger out here’

I finally gave in and responded

‘Okay, Okaaayyy we’re about to walk out. Jesus Oris stop being annoying’

‘Great see you in a sec then’ he said with so much enthusiasm that I just wanted to dropkick him.

With these thoughts, I said, "Now let's go, guys, Oris is giving me a headache" slightly laughing but still feeling a little irritated. Zen and Zari moved to get their things and Zen smiled saying “Stacy looks like she's gonna need a sec so Zari and I are gonna wait for you guys outside.”

Zari grabbed our bags and then zen took them all moving to walk out “I’ll try to keep Oris at bay” said Zari as she followed Zen out. I walked towards the door to wait for Stacy who was Probably talking to Mai. I watched as her eyes went back to their original colors and I held my hand out for her, Stacy smiled, walked towards me, and took my hand.

We moved to walk out the door and then Oris appeared out of nowhere and almost knocked me over (thank god that Stacy was there to stop me from falling on her) “Woah there midget you almost knocked me over” he said dusting the imaginary dirt off himself before saying “I was walking up to see what was taking you so long,” as he turned around and then hopped off the side of the stairs.

Stacy just shook her head and giggled a bit as I led her down the stairs trying to not lose my s**t. “You truly test my patience Oris” as I walked towards him. As we moved away a small group of men moved in and then moved the stairs away from the jet and into the area where the rest of the Flight equipment was kept.

“Yep but you love me. Now let's get home” 

I looked at him and saw that he was trying to keep a straight face and I too put on my most serious face proceeding to look at him head-on. I held my ground and looking into his eyes for about 30 seconds he already had a stupid smirk plastered on his face and could see the amusement forming in his eyes. I did my best but could feel my resolve falter because I could feel a smile tugging at my lips and a laugh trying to escape my esophagus.

I looked at him for ten more seconds but smiled looking away from him and smacking him in the chest because I could hear his loud hearty laugh rumbling out as if I just told the funniest joke in the world. I pouted when I looked up at him again and then heard a car horn honk and turned over to my left to see Xi sitting in the driver seat of a black tundra.

“Come on guys we gotta go Mago’s blowing up my phone” we laughed because we could hear the constant chimes of his phone and you could almost see the emotions on his face but the panic was apparent in his eyes so all I could do was comply the poor man

“You heard him everyone load up” then I heard a chorus “yes alpha” It surprised me because they addressed me real formally but then It dawned on me that I had used my alpha command on them.

I looked at them but realized that they didn’t seem to mind which surprised me a bit because I'm sure Stacy would have felt betrayed so I linked them as we walked towards the car 

‘Sorry guys it sorta happened without much thought’

‘I don’t mind you are alpha after all’ said Zen

‘Yep we wouldn’t have joined your pack otherwise’ said Zari with a chirp in her tone

‘Yeah it’s gonna take some getting used to but I mean it ain't all that surprising like the alpha command never really worked on you Xo which I found to be quite unusual’ Stacy interjected.

‘Shut up human we weren’t born to follow’ Isa growls out of nowhere which completely runs over my head because I'm more focused on the fact that she just called me Human again

‘My name is Xoila’ and like always our connection cuts off

I roll my eyes and sit in the back with my pack members while Oris goes and takes his seat next to Xi. We all buckle our seat belts and then Xi just gasses it out of nowhere the tires literally screeched before we zoomed out of the airport.

Oris laughs with excitement and his eyes gleam as he says “AMONOS!!” (LETS GOOO!) " As we go in full speed zooming by the beautiful scenery of Mendocino California a sudden urge to turn away from the window comes over me and I can feel my soul leave my body at the speed.

 It usually doesn't bother me but I think everything is thrown off at the sudden surge of speed our bodies didn't have time to adjust. Then I remember I'm probably not the only one and I look over at Zari who looks like she’s about to pass out, I look over at Zen who looks fairly amused, and then at my best friend poor Stacy looks like she’s just trying to take in the scenery as well as she can trying to keep her composure and look seemingly unaffected but secretly I could feel the panic rising in her system by the speed the car is going.

I take a deep breath and prepare to ask Xi who seems to be fluidly avoiding collisions with other cars my question. After a few deep breaths, I look at him and then ask “Xi why are you driving so fast I'm sure we're not too far from home” then you see his bored expression break for a second showing genuine concern and worry.

 He seems to already be hitting 100mph and it seems like he won’t be slowing down anytime soon but he answers anyway “When you finally mate and bear the mate mark" He pauses trying his best to get through the streets and then says in his light accent "You have a mind link that only you and your mate share kinda like a family one but more just for you and your mate.” then Zari seemed to be getting some color back seemingly becoming accustomed to the speed and said “Aww that sweet” 

Then Xi said “Yeah well..” then he made a hard turn and you could almost feel the car about to turn over but it regains its balance and then we keep going “You see my wife is blowing up my” He lets go of the steering wheel with one hand and he does air quotes as he says “ “messages.” and to cut it really short she’s in labor with our second baby girl and she’s cursing me for being slow” 

Everyone seemed to be in sync then and the pack link chimes with

‘ I would probably be in a rush too'

'Angry she-wolf no bueno'

'That makes sense’

And in a flash, it seems like it’s been at least 10 minutes and we are already nearing the entrance of the Mendocino Coast District Hospital.

Just before they got there Xipil looked at Oris and they had a silent exchange with their eyes. Oris gave a slight nod and Xi swerved into the entrance of the hospital. The car came to a screeching halt and then Xi flung the door open and shot out Running as fast as he could. Oris simply opened the door to the passenger's side, climbed out, closed the door, walked over to the driver's side, and then climbed into the driver's seat and closed the door, and started driving away from the hospital.

“Hey, are we just gonna leave him here alone?” said Stacy, sounding genuinely concerned. 

"Yeah, Oris isn't Xi your best friend?" Said Zari a little shocked at the fact that he left Xi. The car fell silent and then as the hospital faded from view in the rearview mirror Oris voiced his thoughts with a small smile dancing on his lips “Well yeah we wouldn’t want to intrude in such a touching family moment” one thought that crossed my mind was wow Oris could be so nice sometimes-- “But at the same time who would want to be in front of a pregnant she-wolf that's full of hormonal rage that probably doesn't want to be seen in such a busted state” he said with a laugh.

I took the freedom to roll my eyes when I heard Zen laugh 

‘Jerks’ I heard in my head in unison come from Stacy and Zari I giggled and then looked over at the guys who seemed clueless as to why I was giggling and why Zari and Stacy were pouting.

‘Zen come sit in my seat I'm gonna move to the front with Ory. Zari you sit in the middle so that Zen had legroom behind me’

‘Yes Alpha’ they all said in unison and moved to do what I said. I got out of my seat “Hey Xo sit down you’re distracting the driver,” Oris said as he began to make the car move strangely and make me shaky. 

I knew he was taunting me and then he started to speed up while still continuing to drive strangely as I climbed into the passenger side next to him. I turned around to sit down and adjusted the seat. Then once I was nice and comfortable and safely buckled in I turned to look at Orys I smiled and then I smacked him full strength in the back of the head.
