Alpha’s Vampire Mate

Chapter 6

Andrew's POV:

After last night's events, I'm not sure what to think of the Vampire King. Yes, in a sense justice was served, but his wife was severely injured. Maybe a public execution was too quick a death, but what did I know? I barely knew these people, much less their customs. I didn't know what to think getting up this morning. I roll over in my bed to see the time on the clock. "f**k," I say.

"Ryan!" I shout to my Beta and best friend, "It's almost 10:00am, we need to get going!"

"s**t, Drew! Really?" He asks.

"Yea, we have to be in Shadow Moon in 2 hours. We overslept," I said. Just then, there was a knock on the door.

"Sir, the King is requesting your presence in his office. It seems her Majesty, the Princess Roselynn, has returned home and wanted to meet you," the butler, whose mane I forgot, says.

"We'll be right there," I tell him.

We both got dressed in our day clothes, me wearing an Armani suit tailored to fir my broad shoulders and toned legs, Ryan in his jeans and white button up shirt. The second I opened up the door, the sweetest smell of honey and primroses hit my nose.

"Dude, do you smell that?" I ask Ryan.

"Smell what?" he asks confused.

"I think my mate's here. I've been smelling honey and primroses all over this place, but I don't see primroses anywhere," I explain.

"Drew, I really hope you're not pulling on my paw," he laughs.

"I'm being serious. I think she's here," I say. Before he can say anything, we arrive at the King's office. When the butler opens the door, the most beautiful girl with ivory hair, tan skin and vibrant red eyes. Wait, did they just turn straight GOLD?! Holy Moongoddess. She's perfect.

"Ah, the young pups. Rose, this is Alpha Andrew and Beta Ryan of -" he starts, when Rose cuts him off.

"Blood Moon Pack. Yes, father I know who they are. Dad, a word, please? In private?" she asks, her father.

"I'm sorry boys, it will only be a minute," he says and takes his daughter outside the room.

"Dude, her eyes went from red to gold! How cool is that?" Ryan says.

"Yea, cool," I say trying to hear their conversation.

"Dad, he's my mate. I can't believe I even tried to avoid him! He's handsome and perfect! If only he wasn't a wolf or from that Goddess forsaken Pack!" Princess Rose told her dad.

Without even knowing me, she hated me. I just didn't know why. I'd done nothing to her, that I knew of. I'd only just met the girl and she already thought she knew me. She sounded on the verge of rejecting me, and I just had to do something, but I couldn't let them know I was listening. Right when I decided to step outside to say something, anything to keep her from rejecting me, the door opened and they came back inside.

"I'm sorry, Alpha, but your visit is being cut short. Princess Roselynn has asked that you leave immediately," King Kieren says.

"Sir, I cannot leave yet. I'd like a word please? If you don't mind," I ask him. "Ryan, could you ready the car?"

"Of course," Ryan says and leaves.

"Rose, you're excused," the King tells his daughter.

"No, father. I intend to hear what this pup has to say. I have a feeling it's about me anyways," she says back.

"She can stay. It does include her after all," I say politely.

Before the King can say anything else, the door burst open. "Your Majesties and Alpha, there's been an emergency," the same butler from earlier said.

"What's happened, dear Jason?" Princess Rose asked.

"It seems that we are under attack. Queen Josslynn and Princess Azalea are standing on the front lines. It seems that Princess Rose has threatened the Council, but Queen Josslynn already has them here," the boy rushed.

"Father, we need the Pack's help. We don't have the means to handle a full blown Vampire War right now," Rose told her father.

"I can have Shadow Moon here in 10 minutes, just give me the go ahead," I said.

"No, it has to be yours, Alpha Andrew," King Kieren said. "You are my daughter's Beloved. It has to be yours."

"I will call my mother," I say. "Give me just a moment."

I walk out the door to call my mother. "Luna," I say when she answers, "one of the Vampire Kingdoms has started a war with King Kieren." I tell her. "I need all of our warriors here."

"Why? It's not our fight," she says.

"Mother, I don't have the time to explain, so I'll keep it short. Princess Roselynn is my mate," I tell her.

"We can be there in fifteen minutes if we run," she says and hangs up. True to her word, my mother, Gamma and Beta along with all of our warriors, all 1,250 of them, show up and ready to protect the future Luna and Queen of our pack and Vampire Kingdom.

"Kieren," my mother greets him.

"Luna Audrey," he says in return.

"Father, the Council is asking for a word with the three of us," Rose says.

"Three of who?" Kieren asks.

"You, Alpha Andrew and myself," she clarifies.

"I don't see why. We've done nothing wrong," he says. "So be it, let them in. Luna, please stand outside."

My mother leaves and the Vampire and Werewolf Councils enter.

"Alpha Andrew, this isn't your fight. You need to take your pack and leave," Elder Jackson says.

"Actually, it is my fight. They declared war against my mate. I have every right to be here fighting with her," I say.

"Very well then," Jackson tells me.

"Your majesty, what is going on here?" Elder Jackson asks the King.

"I believe one of the European kingdoms has declared war on my family," King Kieren answers.

"Why would they do that?" Jackson asks.

"Because I found my beloved over 100 years ago and they are still sore about it. I was supposed to marry their Princess Azalea if I didn't meet my beloved by the time I was crowned King. It was an agreement between my father and Queen Josslynn. Princess Azalea has already committed one crime against my wife, but to declare war on my whole kingdom?" Kieren says.

"We've been told already and you were in the liberty of handling said crime since it was placed against Her Majesty, I assume it was a painful death?" The head Vampire councilman asked.

"As painful as possible. Her mate never accepted her rejection so when he did right before her beheading, she felt every ounce of her heart break before I beheaded her," Kieren said.

Before anyone said anything else, the door opened. "Your majesties and Councilmen," the butler from earlier said, "I hate to inform you, but it seems that Queen Josslynn and her soldiers have retreated."

"Well, we may have to take this matter to Europe. King Kieren, do you think you and your family would be willing to travel to Europe with us to continue this conversation and possibly start the Queen and Princess' trials?" one of the Vampire Councilmen asked.

"I wouldn't see why not. We will however have to ask my sister to send my nephew to watch over our kingdom while we are gone," Kieren says.

"Fair enough, your Majesty," the councilman replied.

"Young Alpha, you and your pack are free to go home. I will personally call you with any and all updates," King Kieren tells me.

"Of course, your Majesty. I look forward to hearing from you," I say.

After everyone else has left the room, it's just me and the King.

"Andrew, my daughter is going to need time to understand that the two of you are fated to be together. I ask that you let her reach out to you first," he says.

"Of course, I'll let Princess Rose reach out to me first. I will do my best to not ask after her in your updates," I tell him. After our brief conversation he shows me out so I can grab Ryan and head home.

"Ryan, it's time we head to Shadow Moon Pack," I tell him once I've found him.

"But, your mate is here. Why would we need to go to Shadow Moon?" he asks me.

"Because this isn't something you tell someone over the phone," I remind him.

"Fair enough, let's get going so we can make it before three pm," Ryan says.

"Yeah, we have to get going now so we can explain the delay in time," I tell him. We gather all of our belongings and head towards Shadow Moon Pack. The King sends his regards as we head out and we promise to visit again soon.

It takes us only about twenty minutes to reach Shadow Moon and another twenty in security before we are actually allowed to enter pack territory. Maybe if I wasn't in a rush to get back to my home to await the news of the crimes against my Mate and her family, I would have been nicer to the staff trying to protect their high ranking Wolves.

"I'm sorry, Head Officer, I'm just in a rush to get this meeting over with so I can get home to my pack," I apologize to the officers.

"It's quite alright young Alpha. We all heard about the attempt of war with the Vampires," he says.

"It would have been a blood bath if both Vampire and Werewolf Councils and Elders didn't get there first," I say.

"It sounds like it would have been one hell of a battle if you ask me. Next time the Canadian Kingdom is in trouble, call our Alpha and we'll be there to help too," he says.

Rose's POV:

I waited outside my father's study after the Elders and the Councilmen left so I could have a moment with my father. When I went to walk in after catching the tail end of his and Andrew's conversation, Andrew stopped me.

"Your Majesty, I gave your father my word that I would let you reach out to me first, and I will stand by that until the very end. I hope you call soon, but I won't be upset if you don't. I understand that you need time to accept the Mate Bond between the two of us and I will not stand in the way of your decision. If you'll let me, maybe we could get to know each other without the Bond getting in the way?" He asked.

"I'd like that very much, but do wait for my call. My father has your personal number on file, I'll text you in a few days with an update from Europe. If I don't text within those three days, give me two more before you come to Europe to find out why," I tell him.

"Yes, Princess. Safe travels to you and your family," he says.

"The same to you and yours, pup," I say teasing him.

I walk into my father's study to discuss our next plan of action and when we leave for Europe.

"Father, what did you discuss with the Alpha pup?" I ask him.

"I just told him to give you space and that I would keep him updated about what happens in Europe. I heard what you told him. I'm glad you're willing to give him a chance. Don't make any rash decisions just yet, he could just change your whole outlook on his pack. Maybe he can even change how you rule our Kingdom when your mother and I officially crown you Queen. Maybe you'll realize you need him just as much as he'll need you. You could conjoin the pack and the coven to create an even better world for the both of you. He'll have your back and you'll have his, but only if you trust him. You have to give him the chance to fail before you actually deem him unfit to rule next to you. You call the shots with the Vampires, and he calls the shots with the wolves," my father told me.

"You know what? You're right. He said he needed to go to Shadow Moon Pack, right?" I ask.

"Yes, my dear, he did," my father tells me.

"Aaron, pack a bag, we're going to Shadow Moon Pack," I call my best friend and advisor.

"Dad, I'm going to Shadow Moon. I'll call you when I get there and when I leave for Europe. Updating Andrew won't be necessary. If everything goes the way I hope it will, he'll be with me," I tell my father after my phone call.

"Of course, Princess. I'll see you in Europe then. And please, don't be so hard on the pup. Maybe even ask his mom for help with the Luna responsibilities, I'm sure Andrew will ask for my help with the Kingly responsibilities. That's all I could ever ask for you," he tells me.

I leave his office and head for my car with Aaron on my heels. "Rosa, time to go. Shadow Moon's Alpha awaits you and the entrance so you won't have to go through security," Aaron tells me.

"I'll call him in the car. I want to feel like any other guest and I don't want to alert Andrew to my presence. I want it to be a surprise," I tell Adrian.

As soon as I got into the car, I pull out my iPhone 13 and dial the Alpha of Shadow Moon Pack.

"Alpha Jason Drake, I'd like you to wait for me in your office when I arrive. I'd like to keep Alpha Andrew from knowing of my visit for as long as possible. Just tell him to wait until your guest arrives, please?" I ask the Alpha.

"Of course, Miss. He's in my office at the moment, I will ask him to wait for your arrival," he tells me and hangs up the phone.

"Aaron, please go toward security," I tell him.

"Of course, Rosa," he says and drives toward the public entrance. As soon as we arrive, the Head Officer asks us to pull the car over and instructs us to get out.

"Your Majesty, why didn't you use the private entrance?" he asks me.

"I didn't want to alert Alpha Andrew to my presence. I couldn't let him know I'm here. Just treat us as any other guest," I tell him.

"Of course, Ma'am. If you could just follow standard procedures and step inside the security office so we can scan you for any weapons," he tells me.

"Sir, I assure you, the only weapons I have on me are my teeth and hands. I won't use them unless provoked. This Pack doesn't seem to have problems with living in a Vampire run Kingdom, so I should hope I won't be provoked," I tell him.

"I still need to check ma'am, please just step inside," he says.

I do as he says and let him scan my body for any weapons besides my teeth. When he doesn't find any, he lets Aaron and I head through to the Pack house. As soon as we get there, the Luna meets us at the door.

"Rose, I was asked to show you to the Alpha's office," she says. Aaron and I follow her to the office.

"Darling, your guests are here," she says to her husband.

"Rose, what are you doing here?" Andrew asks me.

"I think this is something that involves both of us," I tell him.

"Princess Rose, Advisor Aaron, please, come in," Alpha Jason says.

"Thank you, Alpha," I say.

"Can we discuss why you two are here?" Alpha Jason says.

"Alpha Andrew is my Beloved, as us Vampires call Mates," I tell the Alpha. "I followed him here to tell him that bond or not, we belong together and I'm not going to live another day without him. I came to convince him to come to Europe with me to talk with the Vampire Council about Queen Josslynn and Princess Azalea's crimes against my family, more importantly against my mother."

"I'm sure he would follow you anywhere you went. It would have only taken Drew an hour to have our jet prepped for departure to Europe," Beta Ryan says.

"Ryan! That's not even half true," he says. "I would have waited a few days before following her to Europe. I would have done as she asked. I wouldn't just follow her on a whim, Ryan."

"Okay, guys, that's enough. We all know the mate bond makes us do strange things," Alpha Jason says, "but that doesn't mean that he wouldn't have waited like he was asked."

"Let's not do this here, please boys. Everyone is right," Luna Drake says. "Rose did right by her own heart and came to get Andrew. Ryan, go home, inform your Luna that Andrew will be in Europe during the duration of the rouge Royalty's trial. I have a good feeling about Rose and Andrew. They will make a fine couple, with the right guidance. Shadow Moon is willing to help Blood Moon with anything they may need with the merger."

"Um, what 'merger' Luna?" Andrew asks.

"When two high ranking people from two very different species mate, both of their people merge. In this case the Blood Moon Pack would merge with the Canadian Vampire Kingdom, or as it's known around the Vampire world Ombre de sang, or Blood Shadow Kingdom. We're known worldwide for being the only Vampire Kingdom with a Wolf Pack," I explain to Ryan. "Shadow Moon is the only Pack affiliated with Vampires on a daily basis. And now Blood Moon is affiliated by default since Andrew is my beloved."

"This doesn't explain anything, Rose," Ryan says.

"How so?" I ask.

"Well, it's just why would our Pack need to merge with your Kingdom?" Ryan asks.

"Because, I can't give up my crown to be a Luna, and Andrew can't give up his Alpha title, so your whole pack would move to my Kingdom and Andrew and I would run both together. The palace would be the Packhouse and we would build more homes for your entire pack. We'll have a few multi family homes built, since I know you wolves like to run in groups and some don't like to live to far from each other. I've got most of it put together. At this moment, I have the Kingdom's secretary looking at our budget so I know roughly how much to spend on the homes and add-ons for the palace. We'll turn the bottom floor into a game center for the young wolves and vampires to hangout and spend time together and get to know one another, we'll put extra rooms on the bottom two floors for the unmated wolves and vampires to live, the upper levels will be for the high ranking officials offices. It will take some time, but we're going to make everyone happy," I say.

Before he can say anything else, I turn away and walk out of the office.

"Rosa, wait, please," Andrew called after me.

"Who told you that name?" I asked him.

"Aaron told me it would calm you down," he explained.

"My brother called me Rosa before his beloved killed him when she found out he wasn't going to be King. He marked and mated her the day they met, but only the oldest can be ruler, I was older by ten minutes. She's been in imprisonment for the last forty years. It's my job to set the execution date. I just can't yet. Not until my nephew is at least 60, that's our code. All royalty whether for one or one hundred years, can't be executed until their child is 60 and can support themselves. My nephew has been supporting himself since he was 20, but still asked that I wait until he was 60. He'll be 60 in two says and I'll be in Europe. I'll have to ask my cousin to have her executed in three days by ripping her heart out and cutting her to pieces. She'll have to be burned, but my nephew has to agree to it. Darious wouldn't want his only son to have to sign off on his mother's death. Jackson was only 20 when we found out his father was murdered. The trial lasted at least 13 months, and I had to run the trial myself while my parents were in Europe with my aunt," I tell him. "I've never told anyone about my brother. Aaron met him the year he came home with his beloved, Jessica was nothing but a gold digger anyways and always lusted after the crown. When she found out that my brother wasn't going to be queen, she flipped. Yelled at him, accused me of being a pretentious stuck up b***h who's only after my father's legacy. When my father found out, he took her son from her, gave me the go ahead to start the trial process and had to bury my brother all on my own. I had to bury my best friend, Andrew. I can't come back from that." I sobbed into his shoulder.

"Hey, it's ok. I know it's hard, but you'll get through it. You should really talk to your dad about how you're feeling with all of this. I know the pressure of being Queen and Luna are adding to your stresses, but I'm here when you need me, and even when you don't. I'll hold your hand through it all. Thick and thin. I'm here for you and you're here for me. The mate bond makes me want to say that I love you, but neither of us are ready for such a serious phrase yet. We both have a lot to prove to ourselves and to each other's pack and coven. I have to prove to your kingdom that I'm worthy of being your mate and their King, and you have to prove to my pack that you are worthy of being my mate and their Luna. We've got this. Now, lets go inside and finish this meeting together," he says.

He grabs my hand and leads me back to Alpha Jason's office.

"I'm sorry about my overreaction. This argument just hit a little too close to home for my comfort. Not a lot of people know this, but my brother was killed by his beloved after she found out that he wasn't going to be King. I had to take charge of his wife's trial, bury him and move my nephew into a spare room in the palace. My nephew is the reason I'm doing what I can to make this merger perfect and as seamless as possible. I'm sorry, Ryan, that you might not agree to this merger, but it's what's best for your pack and my kingdom. I'm going to do my best to prove to you and your pack that I am going to be a great mate to Andrew and an amazing Luna to your pack. I will do my damned best to show you that I can run a kingdom and a pack at the same time. I don't need show anyone except my mate and myself," I say.

"Princess, I had no idea. I'm sorry I made you feel incompetent. You're a strong individual and will be an amazing mate to Drew and an even better Luna and Queen. I promise. Andrew is a better person because of you, thank you. You already make an amazing Luna, Rose," Ryan said.

"It's ok. No one knew. Thank you for believing in me. I hope to have the renovations made while we're in Europe, do you think you could move in early Ryan to help with placement?" I ask him.

"Of course, Princess. I can move in tomorrow if it helps move the process along. I'll keep you and Andrew updated about the movers and the contractors. It will be my personal goal to have the entire pack moved here before you get back from Europe. Please keep me updated about the trial and I'll try to keep your cousin up to date on the reservations and remodeling. We'll get everything covered here while you and Drew play detective in Europe," Ryan says.

"My cousin will be executing my sister-in-law in three days, you'll need to make sure my nephew, Jackson, signs the consent form for her to be burned. And please help my cousin where it's needed. I'll send Andrew's mother the details for the palace and she can help with the placement of the offices and maybe a few of the multi family homes," I tell him.

After everything with the attempt at war this morning, meeting my beloved, and now I have to go to Europe to play some kind of detective and put the rouge royals in prison. I can only hope Europe is better this time around and I can take Andrew to meet my aunt and cousins when we're done. Of course now my aunt is going to have to expand her part of the kingdom and rule all of Europe, with my help of course. I'll just have to do everything to keep my head up and my heart locked up. I'm doing my best to keep Andrew at arms length, but I think he's going to be breaking down my walls, one brick at a time.
