Chapter 7

2072 Words
Rose's POV: After leaving Ryan in my home by himself with his best friend's mom, which was hard at first, but I had Andrew remind me that he'd behave himself "if he knows what's best for him", whatever that means, packs and their weird phrases, Andrew and I headed back to my aunt's kingdome. "Rosa, we're here," Andrew tells me. I'm still not completely ok with him using my brother's nickname he had for me. "Oh, thank you," I tell him. Time to get to work, I guess. "Are you prepared to put your snout in some vampire business?" I ask him. "Not really, but with you, I'm willing to do anything," he said, giving me a kiss on my cheek. I could tell that he was really nervous about not f*****g this up for himself or for me, but I know he'll be just fine. I wasn't really sure about what was going to happen, but I knew that in the end, we'd get through it as we were always meant to. I guess having a wolf for a mate could have its perks. I'm still not quite ready to accept the mate bond between the two of us just yet, but I'm definitely getting closer. For now, we have a lot of ground to cover and hopefully bring the rouge vampires to justice. "Rose, Andrew, what a pleasant surprise," my aunt says. "Aunty, do you remember Qeen Josslynn and Princess Azalea?" I ask her. "Of course, dear. What nonsense have they gotten themselves into this time?" She asked me. "They committed treason and tried to have my mother killed and just yesterday tried to declare war on my home," I tell her. "Why does that not surprise me? Josslynn has always had it out for your mom since the day her and your father met. She's always hated that she wasn't of royal blood, but your father loved her anyway and made her his queen instead of that spoiled brat she calls a daughter," she says. "Did everyone know about this before I did?" I ask sarcastically. "Dear girl, it was common news since your father openly crowned her queen in front of your kingdome and the Council Elders. You know her brother is Elder Robert, yes?" she asked me. "I do now, Aunty. Why am I just now hearing about this?" I ask, confused. I guess there was more to our history than what I was told. "Then why did Elder Robert allow dad to make mom his queen?" I asked. "He agreed to allow it because he didn't want his niece to have any say in the Canadian kingdome. Azalea has always been a bit, what's the right way to put this, ah, brutal with punishments. Even if the crime was minor. She once starved a prisoner for not bowing to her before addressing her. It was Elder Robert who freed him," she said. I just hope he still believes this way. We can't have him trying to defend her just because she's his niece. Azalea has been nothing but trouble just from what my parents have told me about her. I can't believe she would stoop so low. It's just one of those things that I was taught growing up that I had no say about. Learning about the European kingdomes in history class was not my favorite subject, especially since most of the kids in my class were from the European kingdomes. There was always a debate about the war held between the two kingdomes and who won fairly and who cheated. My aunt's family won the war, but at what cost? A lot of people lost their lives and loved ones in that war, and Queen Josslynn wants to start another one? "Aunty, why is Queen Josslynn so dead set on starting a Vampire World War? Did she not learn her lesson from the last War her family started centuries ago?" I asked my aunt. "I'm not sure, Rose. Perhaps she is trying to gain more land in Canada, but she knows that the land won won't be hers to rule. It goes to the Council and they decide what to do with it and, more times than not, the land continues to belong to the family the war was raged against, if on another continent, so perhaps she is just trying to remove your family from your titles. She's just an overgrown child who gets mad when she doesn't get her way," she said. After sitting and talking with my aunt for a while, Andrew and I went up to my room to talk. I'm still not sure what to think about him and I being fated mates, but I know that the more time we spend together the better our chances of falling in love without the mate bond. "You wanted to spend time together and to get to know each other better, right?" I asked him. "Of course, Rosa, that's all I want. I want to know everything about you," he said. "Let's play twenty questions," I suggested. "You go first." "Ok, what's your favorite color(s)?" he asked me. "Red, black and teal," I said. "What's your favorite movie?" "Hm... that's a tough one. Right now, I'd have to say 'Braveheart'," he said. "Favorite childhood memory?" "My favorite childhood memory would have to be when I was about fifteen and my brother and I were running around this castle playing tag with my older cousin. I made a bet with my cousin that he couldn't tag me before dinner, the loser had to do the other two's chores for three months. I made sure to hide until right before dinner. About ten minutes before dinner, Aunt Katherine called up the stairs for us to finish our game and get ready for dinner. I was hiding in the kitchen pantry and knew he wouldn't get me before dinner, but I had to take the precaution in case he tried. I took the servants' stairs back up here and got ready for dinner while him and my brother tried to find me. They came bounding into my room thirty seconds after I closed the door to the servants' stairs. I waited patiently for them to leave before I moved down the stairs. Once I knew they left the room, I quietly yet quickly ran down the stairs back to the kitchen pantry and made it to my seat right when dinner started. They were both so mad at me. My cousin gave me his signature crooked grin and said, 'A bet's a bet. I have to do y'all's chores for three months.' My aunt looked at us a little funny, but once we explained it, we all laughed," I said, laughing at the memory. "What's your least favorite food?" "I don't have a least favorite food. I like all foods equally," he said. "If you could go back in time, what would you change?" "If I could go back in time, I'd save my brother from the awful wench that was his mate. I'd still have my brother, and my nephew would still have his dad," I said with tears in my eyes. "When you saw me for the first time, what was the first thing you noticed?" "Your eyes. They were the most beautiful color red with little gold flecks, and then they turned straight gold," he said. "Why did your eyes go from red to gold?" "As a vampire, royals mostly, when we meet our beloved for the first time, our eyes change from crimson red to gold with a red ring around our pupils," I said. "My eyes are a solid gold because I haven't eaten in a few days. What does your wolf look like?" "Is there somewhere big enough we can go so I can show you?" he asked. "The vampires that live here don't take too kindly to having wolves within the kingdome gates," I said. "But I can move some stuff around to give you more room in here, so you can show me." "That works, but you'll have to turn around so I can strip out of my clothes. I'll let you know when it's safe to turn back around," he said. We made quick work of moving my bed and dresser up against one wall to give him more room to shift. "Ok, turn around now please so I can strip," he said. I turned around to face the wall. I heard him take off his shirt and undo the belt on his jeans and pull them off his body. I can only imagine how built he really is. Before I can get too lost in my own fantasies, I feel a huge snout press lightly against my lower back trying to turn me around. "Ok ok, I get it, I'm turning around, silly pup," I said, turning around. When I finally turned all the way around, Andrew's wolf was bigger than I expected. I was half expecting a small black wolf like the ones we have for our guards, but no. His head came up to just below my shoulder and he was the most beautiful shade of black with white paws that kinda looked like socks. "What's your name, pup?" I asked, teasing him. My name, mate, is Midnight. And you, my beautiful mate, is Princess Roselynn Grace Briar. Daughter to King Kieren and Queen Deseme Briar, you're the next in line for the throne since your brother passed away, may he rest in piece, his wolf mind-linked me. "We aren't mated yet, how can you mind link me, Midnight?" I ask him aloud. Because, Rosa, Andrew may be the Alpha o his pack, but I am much higher than an Alpha wolf. I am a direct decendant from the werewolf goddess and vampire god. Andrew is as well, but he doesn't know it yet. I've not been allowed to share this information until we found you. He is also just now learning about this, his wolf said. "So, you're telling me, that the werewolf goddess and the vampire god were mates?" I asked conused. Yes, my dear Rosa. I knew I was destined to be your mate from the moment you were born. I stayed with my parents in their palace in the god's and goddess' realm until Andrew came of age. I've watched you grow and was always there with you through everything you went through, he said. "Thank you, Midnight. Can I have Andrew back now please?" I asked him. Turn around, please mate, he said. I turned around and waited patiently for Midnight to shift back so I could talk to Andrew. "You can turn around now, Rosa," Andrew said standing right behind me. "Are you dressed, dear?" I asked him. "My pants are on, I see no need for my shirt to be on," he replied. I turned around, just to be face to chest with my mate. He was very well built, with tan skin and an eight pack for abbs. I slowly reached my hand forward to place it on his chest. The second my hand made contact with his chest, I felt sparks. I let him wrap his arms around me, pulling me in for a hug. "So, you're a direct decendant from the gods?" I asked him. "I guess I am, we both heard what Midnight said. He must've been waitng a century to see you in person," he said teasing me. "Well, I am almost 101 years old," I said. "You don't look a day over 18, my love," he said and I blushed. "Now, it's getting late, why don't we get some sleep. I'll sleep on the couch so I don't make you uncomortable." And he did just that. I gave him one o my pillows and my second avorite blanket to sleep with. "We have an early morning, pup, get some sleep," I said, teasing him. "I you decide that you can't sleep without me, you are allowed to crawl into bed next to me." I crawled into my bed, still pressed up against the wall, and pretnended to sleep. Not even two minutes later, I elt the bed dip as Andrew crawled into bed beside me, holding me. "I couldn't sleep without you, my love," he whispered in my ear. "Goodnight, Princess." And we both fell asleep.
