Alpha’s Vampire Mate

Chapter 4

Andrew's POV:

Planning for our trip is taking longer than I thought. I got the OK from the Vampire King and Alpha Ceaston's Beta Bronsen to be in their territories. All that's left is to hold a council with my mother, the current Beta and the current Gamma. 

Mother, could you, Beta Lewis and Gamma Adrian meet me in my office please? I mindlink her.

Of course dear, we'll be there shortly. She replies. I'm so thankful for her for being so prompt an understanding. She's taking care of most of the pack duties by herself, while teaching me the ropes. Of course she has the Beta and Gamma for help when she needs it. I'm pulled out of my thoughts by a knock at the door.

"Come in," I say.

"You asked to meet with us dear?" My mother asks.

"Yes, my future Beta, Ryan, and I are going to Canada to Shadow Moon Pack to look for my mate there, and I wanted to make sure that you three, with Caleb's help, would be ok on your own for a few days, a week max," I say.

"Alpha Andrew, we've been doing this for quite a while now, I think we'll be ok while you're gone. Your mother or I will notify you if something happens while you're gone," Beta Lewis says.

"Yes, I know Beta, I just worry about leaving my mother is all," I reply.

"Thank you, for your concern dear, but I'll be fine," my mother says.

"If that is all you needed, I need to head back to my wife and pups young Alpha Andrew," Gamma Adrian says.

"Yes, that's everything. You're dismissed," I tell them.

I watch as they all leave and when the door closes, I place my hands in my head and sigh in exasperation. I feel a slight pressure in my head meaning that someone I blocked from mindlinking me is trying to get my attention, so I let them in. 

Drew, you're needed in the Luna's office. It's urgent!! Beta Lewis links me.

I go to my mom's office and walk in as she gets off the phone.

"What's wrong mom?" I ask.

"The Vampire Queen, Deseme has just been attacked. The King just called to ask if you could possibly leave today to help question the rogue," she says.

"Let me text Ryan to have the car ready and we'll leave now," I tell her.

"Okay, dear, let me know when you get there," she says.

"Yes mom," I say and leave.

Me: Ry, ready the car, we're leaving today. The Vamp Queen was attacked.

R: Gotcha, meet u @ the car

M: Be there in 5

R: Ready & waiting Alpha

I get out to the car and fill Ryan in on everything I know about the attack, which isn't much. It takes us about three hours to get to the Kin's castle.

"Does he know we're here?" Ryan asked me

"Yea, he's waiting for us, go ahead and drive up to the gate," I tell him. The guard at the gate asks who we are and when we tell him, he calls someone, probably the king, and lets us through.

The King is waiting for us at the door when we arrive. 

"Young Alpha Andrew and future Beta Ryan, thank you for coming so quickly," he says.

"Of course, your Majesty," I say, "is the Queen ok?"

"She's recovering, please follow me to the dungeon where the rogue is, she is heavily guarded and is refusing to answer any questions. She specifically asked that we call you, says she knows you," the King says.

"Show us the way," I tell him. We follow him down two flights of steep stairs and down a long tunnel before getting to a steal door with a sever lock system. King Kieren put a droplet of his blood on a panel and scanned his eye, once the system verified that he was indeed himself, the door opened revealing two dozen cells and a giant cell that takes up the back of the dungeon, that's where the rogue is held. Ryan recognizes her instantly, it takes me a few minutes as my eyes adjust to the dark.

"Dude, that my ex-mate Kayla," he whispers to me.

"Ex-mate?" I ask?

"Long story," he whispers back.

She gets stands curious to see who it is and get excited to see us, well more Ryan than me.

"Ryan! You came! Are you coming to let me out?" the rogue asks.

"No, I'm not," he says annoyed.

"But, I'm your mate," she whines.

"Ex mate," he says enunciating ex slowly and clearly, "you rejected me, remember?"

"Why did you attack the Queen?" I ask getting straight to the point.

"I was told to," she replies.

"Who ordered the attack?" I ask.

"Princess Azalea."

"Why?" King Kieren asks.

"Because Princess Azalea was supposed to be your Queen and said that your beloved needed to go," she told him smugly. 

"Then I hate to say it, but Kayla, you're sentenced to public execution in one hours' time," the King said. With that we all left.

"Your Majesty, is it just you and the Queen home right now?" I ask, being polite.

"Yes, my daughter is currently in London visiting family, if you'll excuse me I need to call her," he said and left us to a servant to show us to our room. When the servant left us at our room, I took that time to talk to Ryan about his mate.

"Why didn't you tell me that you found your mate?" I ask.

"I didn't want to add to your stress levels. You had just lost your dad when I met her and she rejected me the same day," he says.

"Ryan, I would have still been there for you, no matter what," I tell him.

"I know, and I'm sorry you had to find out this way," he said.

"Did you ever properly accept her rejection?" I ask.

"Now that you mention it, no I didn't," he said.

"Then do it before her execution. That way she suffers from both the rejection and the execution," I say smiling.

Before he could respond there was a knock on the door.

"The King requests your presence in the main courtyard," the servant said.

We follow him quickly and quietly to the main courtyard, where King Kieren was waiting on our arrival.

"My dear fellow vampires and visiting pups, it is with a heavy heart I must inform you of an attack on the Queen. Don't worry, she is well and recovering, but now with severe damage to her left eye that will need time to heal. Today, I bring you all to witness the public execution of the execution of the rogue that attempted to kill our Queen for revenge on a matter that had nothing to do with her. Guards, please bring out the rogue," King Kieren says.

Everyone looks around trying to see where the guards and Kayla are going to come from. I look behind me when I hear her high pitched whine, "My mate will get me out of this, he just has to. It's his job."

The moment she's positioned near the King, he speaks again, "Kayla, how do you plead to your crimes against the vampire Queen?"

"Guilty, and I'd do it again," she says with a smile on her face.

Everyone around us starts shouting for the King to behead her before she tries to break free. 

"I speak up over the uproar, "Where is your supposed mate now, Kayla?" I laugh.

"He's right next to you, you filthy mutt," she screams.

"Ryan, is this pup your mate?" I ask him loud enough everyone hears me.

"No, she's not. Not anymore. I, Ryan Edward James, future Beta of the Blood Moon Pack, hereby accept your rejection Kayla Brynn Avery of the Blue Moon Pack," he says proudly. Everyone watches as she grasps her chest at his acceptance, but before she can say a word King Kieren grabs a fistful of her hair and uses a guards sward and cuts her head clean off.

"Ladies and Gentlemen, justice has been served, you are dismissed," King Kieren declares. With the end of her execution, Ryan and I head back to our room to rest before heading to Shadow Moon Pack the next morning.
