Lily pov “Yes, mom. Don’t worry I’ll be home for Christmas” “You talk to your boss?” “Yes. I will be there on Christmas Eve. And I’m staying until New Year's second day” “OK sweetie” “Can I call later? I’m late for work” “Yes, sweetie. Of course. Have a nice day at work” “Thank you, mom. You too. Bye,” I say and finally, we end the call. This Christmas is the first that I will spend with my family in Florida after five years that I work in a fashion magazine in Los Angeles. After I graduate as a costume designer and stylist I start working immediately. My good grades and the one teacher that I had was also working in the same magazine and he hired me as his assistant. Soon I start to be responsible for many photoshoots and campaigns. And I didn’t have the time or the luxury to go on vacations. I had to build my career and thank God this year I managed to take a few days off to see my parents. After half an hour I managed to arrive at the magazine. “You are early as always,” Valerie one of the makeup artists said. We have worked on many photo shoots together. Is two years older than me and they hired me at the same time as me. We became good friends, we were roommates for about a year but then she moved out with her boyfriend Jake. “You should know already that I won't be early than late” “I know.” She says smiling “I’m going to leave my things in my office and then I’m coming to the studio,” I say and I’m walking to the elevator. “Good morning Ava,” I say to my assistant “Good morning Lily. Mrs. Stone wants to see you for the bazaar” “Ok,” I say and after I leave my stuff in my office I walk to my editor. “Good morning Charlotte” “Come in Lily,” she says and I walk inside and sit on the chair opposite of her. We talk about the fashion bazaar that the magazine organizes and I have to finish my plans and give the orders that need to be done before I leave. “Ok. I want everything organized before you leave and everyone is replacing you to be informed about everything. I want this bazaar to be successful like every year” “Did I ever disappoint you?” I ask smiling “No. But on this, you will not be here so I’m a little nervous” “Don’t be. I will take care of everything. And the people that be there that night they will be informed about everything” “I hope so. Do you have to leave?” She says. I’m kinda glad about my relationship with Charlotte and with everyone here actually “Sorry. My parents want to spend this Christmas with them. Also, my sister has a baby now and I dying to see him” “Fine. Finish your work and you can leave” she says and I walk to the door “One more thing.” She says and I turn around “I want you to take over the photo shoot of the girl band next week. You are closer to their age and they prefer you anyway.” “Ok. No problem. Send me the details and the brands that you want to look for” I say and she nods. With my phone with me, I go down to the photo studio for the photoshoot that I have in two hours. We will have an actress today and I have to check if the clothes that we wanted for the photos are here. “Thank you, Lily. Always is fun to have a photoshoot with you” Helena the actress tells me “No problem Mrs. Parker. And for me is always a pleasure to work with you” I answer and after the photo shoot, I go back to my office. After some calls and emails preparing the bazaar, I hear a knock on my door “Come in,” I say and the door opens and I see Valerie, Ava, and Harper one of the stylists who also works here. “Hey, guys. What’s up?” I ask and I leave my pen down “So I have my birthday on Friday. I will take out all of you and I don’t want no from you” Ava says and she looks at me “I have to...” “No no-no-no. We know you have work but you will come” Harper says “You always cancel our girls' nights out. Now is my birthday and you coming” Ava says “Come on. We will have fun” Valerie says. I look and the three of them. They are tired of me saying no when they go out for a drink. I’m a homie type so the nights out are not my favorite. This is the reason that my relationships didn’t last. I’m not a party girl and the guys I dated before they were. So at some point, they tired of me. But to these girls, I can’t say no. With Harper, we met at the college, and Ava and Valerie I met them here at the magazine. “Ok fine. I will come” “Yes!” Ava says excitedly. After that, they helped me finish some work for the day, and we went for dinner. “So I think you should wear your rose gold sequin romper. It’s classic and you look hot in that” Harper says and the other two agree “I’m wearing the red dress that I bought last week” she continued “Yeah is perfect on you and you are a brunette so red is your color” Ava with her blonde hair will wear a dark green mini dress and Valerie a blue jumpsuit. After dinner and our talk about our outfits for Friday, we went to our homes. I enter my two-bedroom apartment. I walk the hallway and on my right is the guest room opposite a bathroom. I reach the kitchen and next, there is my bedroom. I walk in and I start to undress to go for a shower. I finished my shower and I got ready for bed. I dried my hair, they are auburn like my mom’s and I wear my pajamas. I lay on my bed and soon I fell asleep.
