The queen gives me a kind smile after Carter leaves the room. “You probably won't believe me, but when I read your profile from the Mate-Match site, I had a strong sense of deja-vu, like I'd met you before or was supposed to have met you. Maybe it was because you were Carter's mate all along.”
That sounds pretty far-fetched, but I suppose no much more outlandish than me and Carter being mates in the first place. I still can't quite believe it.
I am curious about something else though, now that I have a chance to ask. “Why did you select me to blind date your son? I heard there were thousands of applicants.”
“There were,” she confirms. “But your application stood out. First, I was fairly sure you hadn't written it yourself and I took that as a sign that you were humble.”
