FIRST MEMORY
They say when a person is about to die the memories of that life will flash before their eyes for one last time. For most of the people out there their first memory will be their childhood but that's not my case.
First memory
when I opened my eyes for the first time I felt pain all over my body there was a lot of wounds in my body and I was in a hospital. I don't even remember how I ended up there. The Doctor asked if I am feeling better. when I tried to nod my head I felt unbearable pain in my head my hand moved in reflex to touch my head I noticed there was a thick bandage on my head. The doctor asked me not to strain and instructed the nurse to help me adjust my position. After that, I felt comfortable. The doctor politely asked me if he can ask me a few questions. Now realising my condition I nodded my head slowly.
"Child do you remember your name" I... I... I am I stammered while talking, words won't come out from my mouth. Ahhh... I winced in pain I don't remember I don't know. I... who I am (sobbing). It's okay calm down dear rest for now everything will be alright.
The doctor instructed the nurse to give me an injection. After that, I soon dozed off.
when I opened my eyes it felt like I was asleep for an eternity. when the nurse came in she noticed I was wide awake, she soon informed the doctor about my condition. The doctor greeted me once again with a warm smile "how are you feeling dear" but this time instead of nodding I replied "better".
That's good to hear. Doctor, do you know who I am? of course, I do but before I could tell you about yourself you should promise me that you should never get too excited.
" I nodded in response"
The doctor explained my situation. I am Martha, 14 years old an orphan I have lost my memory due to a head injury in a road accident. The cause of the accident is that when I was being transferred to another orphanage with my fellow orphans I fell from the running bus when its door accidentally opened. That's how I ended up in the hospital.
I don't know whether I should be happy that I am still alive even though I lost my memory or sad that I am an orphan. The doctor assures me that everything will be back to normal as it is traumatic amnesia so my memories will soon return anytime if I follow the medication properly.
One week later
A man with a big white beard followed by a woman in shabby clothes entered my room. The man introduced himself as the head of Blue Moon orphanage my new orphanage in which I will be staying after I get discharged and the woman in the shabby clothes was the orphanage housekeeper. I was afraid when I saw them as both looked very intimidating. At that time the doctor was in my room for my regular check-up. On seeing both of them I gripped my doctor's coat tightly. He assured me everything was okay and there is nothing to be afraid of.
Let her rest we will talk in my room. Soon the housekeeper and the head followed the doctor to his room.
After a discussion with the doctor, they both left the hospital. The doctor told me that I am completely recovered and will be discharged tomorrow. I don't know how to respond to that.
Martha, you will get a lot of friends there don't worry "cheer up".
"I just smiled" the doctor was about to leave after my check-up.
I said it finally Thank you, Doctor Simon.
Doctor Simon smiled and replied good luck Martha whenever you need any help you can always contact me and don't forget to stay healthy. (Doctor Simon is a kind person he will treat every patient as his relatives. He treated Martha as his daughter after knowing that she is an orphan).
THAT NIGHT
I hope everything will be alright as Doctor Simon said Martha told herself and soon dozed off dreaming about her new beginning.
