Chapter 33
Moira led the way out while Peter held my hand tightly. When we emerged from the deep shadows, it was to find a very different scene from the parking lot I had pulled into earlier. The parking lot seemed full, and as I watched, more cars pulled in, with tires screeching.
Roger and Gloria had subdued Judy, and when she saw Peter, her face lit up with joy and a passion I had never seen from her.
“Peter, you came for me.” She cried out to him, taking a step towards us.
Roger pushed her back against the car, holding her arm so she couldn’t escape. She glanced at Peter holding my hand and looked up, her eyes meeting mine. I saw tears roll down her cheeks, but she said nothing. There was no need, her thoughts came to me as clearly as if she spoke in my ear.
