Chapter 28
"The detective seemed surprised we were a couple,” I said after we were outside. “You’d think he would have heard about it through the gossip going on in town. He didn't miss much either, he was thoroughly checking out everybody in the store, almost as if he had his own agenda. Somehow, I think he would still like to place the blame of Isabelle’s murder on you. He was sure listening in on what Melissa said, too.”
"That's fine, it means one more person knows where we’re going. And this person carries a gun, even better. So, it's a good thing he's aware of our plans." Pausing a moment, Peter looked at me and got serious.
"Mac, promise me you won't take any chances today. You are the prime target and I don't want anything to happen to you.”
