Veil of secrets: mortal's quest

It was the last day of school, before the summer break. Reina had just gotten out of the bus, like any other day, but this time...it was special...because... "It's the last day of school! I have already found a suitable summer job for you, sweety" Said Reina's mother on the other end of her phone as she walked to the dormitory, so she could pack up her things. "There's a lot of vacancies at the church charity, so your help will be really needed, since you're still young and full of energy" Her mom, wouldn't stop talking, that's why Reina didn't interrupt her, just simply 'listened' to her mom with her phone being put somewhere on the bed. Reina did love her mom, but sometimes it was too much, so once her mom was ready to speak about 'her age', she acted like there's something wrong with internet connection. "S..sorry...m..om...I...can..not...hear..y-" Before she finished her sentence, she already hung up the phone, just to escape from her religious mom's constant rants about charity, which was, nicely said, exhausting..if only there was a chance to do something more interesting than the same charity over and over again. Since Reina knew there was no escape from her mom's religious beliefs, she quickly shrugged off the idea of doing something besides charity at the church, which was until she suddenly recieved another call and was already to act like she got bad service at the dormitory, but once she picked up the call, she was shocked. "I got...what!?" Reina exclaimed as she now was informed, that there's some kind of Manor passed onto her from far-related aunt, that she have never met or even knew of. "Ma'am, please calm down. I know it's shocking, but...congratulations, you are now an owner of Gauthier Manor. A centuries old Manor, that will surely bloom under your care" As soon as the lawyer of her far-related aunt said that, he quickly ended the call, almost like he was terrified of continuing talking about the Gauthier Manor. Obviously she tried to call back to that lawyer, but unfortunatly, she couldn’t reach him and was left wondering... "The heck am I going to do with a freaking Manor!?" --- After collecting her toughts, Reina decided to call her mother and ask about far- related aunt Saira, which she had first heard of, but for Reina's suprise her mom wasn't picking up the phone. "Come on, please pick up. Why are you suddenly not picking up?" What was happening? Why was her mother suddenly not answering? Was it because of the call she picked up earlier? What if they were serial killers or scammers and decided to attack her mother first? All these toughts were running trought her head as she started to panick about what had happened to her mother that made her not pick up her daughters phone calls. In the middle of Reina starting to panick, she heard her phone call, so she picked up, hoping that it was her mother speaking. "Sweety? What was happening that made you call me that much? Aww, that's so sweet of you to worry about this old lady" Hearing her mother's voice, Reina felt a rush of relief, that her mom was okay, so she decided to just ask the following question. "I think that everything is okay, but...I was wondering if you know who aunt Saira is? Her lawyer recently called me and intormed that I have inherited some kind of old Manor, which I have no clue what and where it is" At the mention of aunt Saira, her mom went quiet, which was unusual, but Reina understood, that her mom simply tried to think of such relative in their family tree, so her mother asked her a question too. "What is the name of this Manor? Maybe I can find some information in the data base?" Her mother worked at central library as a manager, so she had an acess to the data base, full of history about the city they live in "I think it was the Gauthier Manor? Do you know anything about it?" When Reina mentioned the Gauthier Manor, her mom immideatly went to her computer and entered words: 'Gauthier Manor', but to her suprise, there was nothing in data base about this Manor, so what exactly did Reina inherited? Or was there nothing? "Umm...Reina, sweety, there's no Gauthier Manor, so either way you already forgotten the name or that was some prank call" At these news Reina was confused about the situation, because she rarely recieved prank calls and aunt Saira's lawyer was acting really odd, when he called her. --- Reina was searching some information at the school's library, maybe those huge and heavy books will finally be helpfull and help her with this little mystery about the Gauthier Manor. It took her five hours to go trought every book related to historical buildings and location of every of them, but to no avail, she didn't find anything about Gauthier Manor, just some interesting fact that she could annoy her brother with, once she gets home. Suddenly she felt a cold and strong hand placed on her shoulder, which made her snap out of her toughts and send chills down her spine. Reina slowly turned her head to look at the person, that this hand belongs to, and her curious gaze was met with two menacing eyes hidden behind black, silky veil, which scared her, but she tried to stay calm, so that she could find answers. "W...who are you?" She blurted out, her voice barely above the whisper, but this unknown person heard her anyway. Instead of getting answer from this person, for a while, they stood in complete silence, which was almost suffocating, especially when such dark and sinister eyes were met with her light and pure ones. After a while, mysterious person spoke, revealing it's voice, but it was so raspy, that it was hard to indicate who this person is. "So...you're the new owner? So pathetic." While mysterious person said that, they placed letter in Reina's hands. "Good luck. You're gonna need that, since I'm always nearby that Manor" With these words, mysterious person disappeared, leaving Reina terrified of them, because why is this person suddenly threatening her? She has never been on anyones bad side. Was it because of Gauthier Manor. Once Reina made sure that mysterious person is gone, she checked out the letter, which she just now recieved. _"Dear Reina, I'm your aunt, Saira. I just wanted to say, that I'm glad I have such sweet niece, that's why I decided to give you my Gauthier Manor, while myself, I will take a rest from my daily duties. Hope you will have a nice stay at Gauthier Manor. Your aunt, Saira."_ The letter included picture of the Gauthier Manor and location, where to find it. All Reina could think of was why her far-related aunt was so eager to leave her property in a tennagers hands? This letter left Reina more confused, instead of answering any of her questions about recently inherited Manor from aunt Saira. What exactly was the Gauthier Manor? Why her aunt suddenly decided to just give up a huge Manor to a simple teenager girl? More importantly..who was her aunt and who was that person that gave her this letter? Was Reina now in some kind of danger? The black veil that mysterious person had...it seemed full of secrets, that she could almost call that person's veil 'the veil of secrets', since it seemed to withold a lot of mysteries about this situation and the mysterious person. --- Reina packed up her things at the dormitory and called an uber, so that she could get home and talk to her mother. Once uber driver had arrived, she packed her lugage in the car, before getting herself in the car. Everything seemed usual, since Reina always took uber to get home, that's why she didn't bother to check the uber driver's car, but after they drove off from dormitories, she noticed, that this uber driver didn't had a gadget which counted how much money she will need to pay when they reach final destination, but just shrugged it off. It was until the uber driver turned car in wrong direction, which was not the way to her the city she needed to go, that's why she started to look around, her light brown eyes searching any clue as to where is she at the moment. "Sir? I think you took the wrong turn" As she pointed out driver's mistake, she only recieved silence from the driver, so she tried to open the door of the car, even if it meant risking her life...but... All doors were loocked. She was trapped with a stranger in unknown place. Only thing she saw was forest, which only made Reina think, that she was doomed. Out of panick, she tried again to open car's door, but she failed again and again, while driver ignored Reina's panicking. She always had a way to easely get a panick attack, but she knew that it was no use, since this uber driver still ignored everything she did or said. --- Soon Reina saw huge Manor, which unmistakably was Gauthier Manor, which she just recently inherited from aunt Saira, but...how did this uber driver knew where it was located? Why was she here? "Why did you bring me here? Please answer, sir!" Even her shouting was ignored by the driver, that's why she gave up and just looked outside the car window, hoping she was mistaken about this Manor being the same Manor she inherited.
