Chapter 1: Bell and the Feathers
“Master..” A sound of mourning coming from a young man echoed through the entire forest embraced by the solitude of serenity. In the dark embrace of the night and the cold breeze of the wind, the young man’s heart was aching in between. As he watched his master took his last breath, the streaming of his tears were never-ending to an extent of his eyes being swollen. The old man was known as the 2nd generation clan leader of the indestructible arts, Destroyer Liu Wang Shu of the Heavenly Destroyer Sect. It was once debated by the scholars if the great figure will ascend to the heavens, or will he remain showing no interest in immortality and this topic resonated in the field for centuries. He fought in the war only to be betrayed by the people whom received his unfathomable trust. As the Crimson Serpent Organization proved that they will be undefeatable in the war by chance they join forces, they also pledged favorable rewards to the cultivators who will join them. As the apprentice of the Destroyer, Wang Nian Zhen persuaded his master to join them in exchange of the financial reward, enough to rebuild the Heavenly Destroyer Sect that fell. Remembering the times before the war, Nianzhen couldn’t help but feel regretful of his actions. “I shouldn’t have done that..” A whimper escaped from the young man as he held his master’s hand tightly, as he gritted his teeth, a mournful scream came out from his mouth. All of the emotions that he was keeping at bay immediately exploded, as he couldn’t feel anything about his body anymore. After knowing the news of his master’s conflict with the Crimson Serpent Organization, he ran across the lands to come to the place where he’s currently at. The organization that pledged protection and peace soon showed the signs of desire in taking over the world upon the Demonic Cult’s demise, which many masters opposed— especially Wangshu. “So, it’s you..” The young man flinched as terror took over the entirety of his face, he whipped toward the direction and saw a woman standing amidst the air. “Y-You are..” Uncapable of remembering such person, the young man stumbled upon the ground and ended up blocking his master away from the being. The woman was the embodiment of the moon, having the grace of the moonlight by each ghostly strands of her hair. With her eyes jeweled like the brightest diamonds, it was hued in the sheen of blood. She was indeed alluring, yet also terrifying as the aura and expression she shows were out of the things that a normal lady could exude. Her expression was warm yet dominating at the same time, as her eyes reflected the depths of the ocean with their unfathomable deepness. The young man’s expression darkened as he grimaced, he was on full guard, it was only natural when he didn’t even detect her presence. “17 years old.. you are too young to bear grudges, young lad.” Those words were uttered by the woman with a smile on her face, a type of smile that can be seen in carefree personas and laid back scholars. It was warm and comforting, but once in his life he have read about a being whom take advantage of others using its beauty and intellect— and he has no doubts that it was that beauty. “It is no doubt that you are the soul that transcended through space and time.” Her eyes smiled along with her lips causing for the young man’s eyebrows to furrow. “What is it that you want?” He asked, with full dose of hostility and glares add-on. “You’ve disrupted my great time due to your screaming, and hovered over the one I’m observing— I desire to punish such person somehow.” The young man flinched as he gritted his teeth in fear and hostility, as much as he knows— he cannot do anything to fight such entity. “A punishment for you should benefit me as well.” She uttered which made the young man’s forehead crease. “W-What?” He asked confusedly yet still on his guard. The being hovered over him, and he never took his eyes off from her. “Do you desire to go back?” She asked, “Before the time everything happen..” A teasing demeanor was seen in every gesture of the being, obviously baiting the young lad— as if she doesn’t know. 'What is she planning?!' The young man shouted in frustration inside of his mind, as he cannot do anything anymore. “You’re already dying anyway— why not give a fight?” She asked that made the young man flinch, his expression remained unsure yet he was intrigued of what she said. “D-Dying?” The being pointed over the side of the young man, he thought it was only a bait for him to look down yet as soon as he moved back— the arrow was pushed by the corpse of his master causing for him to feel excruciating pain. He immediately turned down to see what it was and saw an arrow pierced on the side of his stomach. Surprised and feeling helpless, the young man gazed at the woman. “W-What’s this punishment about?” He asked causing for the being to smile as she was contented by the reaction. “You are to go back in time, and persuade your master to fall back before the war starts.” She said, the young man’s eyes widened upon the condition yet his expression immediately darkened. “H-How is this a punishment for me?” He puckered his lips as he caressed the arrow on his side, which was moving at his every word. “Transmigration always give a toll on the person’s mind, isn’t that worth a try?” Uttered by the entity with an alluring smile. The young man shook his head and started to think, until he has reached a conclusion. 'If it’s for master..’ The young man raised his chin to glance at the floating being, there he saw the expression of someone who knows what he will reply. “D-Do it.” As if his throat was clogged, the young man struggled to gulp in fear of the words he had said. The being chuckled before she crossed her arms, snapping one of her fingers that soon created a sound. A large magical circle emerged on top of the lad, embedded with different unknown sigils and unidentified symbols. Feathers slowly fell down in the glowing hue of crimson— each having a same type of symbol that he cannot recognize, and each of those feathers landed on the ground inside the magical circle’s radius. “You must bring me to the time before the war.” The young man uttered firmly, yet the response he got was on the contrary of what he heard earlier. “I don’t think so.” The young man’s face immediately darkened with surprise, yet he knew that it was too late when the feathers started burning. “It seems as though you will meet him earlier than the time we promised.” Those words were embedded on his mind in a glimpse second which made his eyes widen. “Wait, y-you--” His words were cut the moment a deafening sound of a bell was heard from the skies, the young man had no choice but to block his ears to endure the pain coming from the resonating sound. As everything started burning in a supernatural flame, the being smiled at him warmly. Before he could even speak, everything became white and soon— turned black.
