Chapter 78

“Wow, you even looked more unapproachable now because your looks got upgraded. It feels like you are the Ice Prince now, and the way that you are acting. Oh my god, how lucky that I have a handsome friend like you, but I am even more handsome.” Miko said. 

I couldn't help myself, and burst out laughing because of what my friend said. While we were talking, the room even got noisier as soon as Pine entered. 

“Hi there.” Pine said and waved at us. Miko and I stopped and were surprised when she appeared here again. Well, she considers us her friends already and it wouldn’t hurt if I expand my circle of friends too. 

I just smiled at her when she approached. 

“How are you?” She asked.  

“I’m fine. Thank you for the other day.” I said. 

“Of course, since you are my friend.” She said, emphasizing the word friend so the other students can hear. They began murmuring again once they heard that. I don’t know but I suddenly felt disappointed when she said that. 

“So, I am your friend too?” Miko said jokingly and laughed too. 

“Of course, since you and Ray are close. Why would I leave you out, so friends?” Pine said and held out her hand. Both of them shook hands. I was surprised how fast things progressed. I looked at everyone and they were surprised as well. 

After that conversation, the rumor about me and Pine dating died down, but the way the people acted towards me was the same. Was what surprising when people asked for my number and even left letters on my chair. It was bothering me a lot because I am not really used to this kind of attention. That’s why I got the Ice prince nickname because every time I approach, I will just smile and look at them. To be honest, I am really shy and I don’t know how to answer them. 

This kept going on until the end of the school year. It became alarming and was reported to my father, causing him to limit my activities again. I do understand my father’s decision this time. It really got out of control. While this was going on, the friendship between me and Pine was getting better, to the point that I always call her. I don’t know but my feelings are starting to show up. Miko also noticed the changes on the way I acted towards Pine. He warned me that it’s okay to be in love, but I should check out also for the things to consider. 

A few years passed and we are in our second year in college. I was thinking of courting her because I really fell in love with her. During that time, there was a rumor that every time a girl approached me,after that, they saw that Pine was slapping the girl and threatening them. I did not listen to them because I was really blinded by love. If I just believed in those signs, I would never have been entangled with her and stopped my feelings. What can I do, I was seeking for love and care that I barely get from my family.

“Dude, are you sure that you still want to date her? Have you heard the rumors about your girl? They even have evidence.” Miko said, worried. 

“Why would I believe them, they are just targeting her and spreading rumors.” I said, trying to stand firm on my decisions. I really fell in love with her already.

“Are you silly? I know you love her, but please check first. I am your friend, and I just don’t want to get you hurt, okay? I know everything that you have gone through, and I don;t want you to suffer again, since we have already recovered from that phase.” Miko said. 

“You are sounding like my mother again.” I said. 

“I don’t know what to do with you, Ray. Since you are my best friend, I will support you in what you do, and don’t cry to me.” Miko said, laughing. If I only listened to him this time. 

After countless times of planning and thinking, I already expressed my love towards Pine. I was happy that she accepted my feelings for her, but not for too long. The first few months of our relationship went really well, and had no problems. There was this one incident that made me doubt everything, but I tried to forget it. 

We were on the campus when one student approached me asking for my number for the school organization. Pine misheard everything and all of a sudden, she slapped the girl. All of us at the scene were so shocked that she began having tantrums. She even lashed out her anger towards me, talking about how unfaithful I was. 

That’s not only the scenario  that I encountered. During our dates, when other people would look at me, she would glare at them and warn them. She even threw water and other things on other people. 

“Pine, like I said, I really love you. You don’t have to do those things. I understand that you were doing those things for our relationship, but you are getting overboard.” I said, explaining everything to her. 

“Now you are telling me that I am at fault, why don’t we just break up?” She said, 

“I didn’t say that. I am just worried about what people will say about you, and I don’t want you to get hurt.” I said. 

“Oh really, are you worried about me or worried about yourself? Now, go and have fun with other people and I will kill them. Even your best friend, I will never forgive him for stealing my time from you.” Pine warned. 

I was really taken aback by her warnings, and even threatened me about Miko. Why would she go that far? I always showed my love for her, but why is this happening. Things are getting worse day after day, and I feel like she is holding me in the neck. I feel suffocated. 

The turning point on our relationship was when I accidentally overheard her talking with her friend.

“Ray will never leave me, she is madly in love with me and he is playing in my palms. Everything that I did since high school days was really worth it, and to think that he is stupid. He is my property, and of course, when we get married, I will be far better than those socialites that were mocking me. I never had feelings for him, and I am tired of faking everything. But a lot were getting in my way that’s why I am hurting them to get what they deserved.” Pine said, laughing with her friends. 

I cannot believe everything that I heard that she was just exploiting my feelings.
