Chapter 79

Devastated, I locked myself up in my room for a week. Miko tried to reach me, but I told him that I needed time alone. I also changed my number so that she cannot reach me again. She also tried to go to our house, but because of the security, she cannot go in. 

After a week of just doing nothing, finally Miko convinced me to go out. I was also careful because my father might get angry if he finds out. 

“See what happened, there were already a lot of red flags but you fell even more.” Miko said. 

“I just fell in love with the person.” I said. 

“Yeah, I understand but you should have weighed things first. I will not blame you any further because things already happened. You just need to break up with her, and please don’t be sorry when Pine comes begging. You need to toughen up.” Miko said, 

I just nodded in what Miko said because he was right. My sister was right too, and I just remembered what she told me before. I shouldn’t trust others easily because they will just exploit what I have. 

Luckily, I did not throw my phone away and called her. She was so angry that I just called and it felt like I was running away. My voice really trembled because she was so agitated just like my father when he is furious. 

One thing that I really hated was the fact that she started screaming over me when she knew it’s herself that she was at fault. I know I was at fault too by running away and not confronting her, so I think it’s really best to end things between us. I just listened to her ranting over the phone, holding my temper as well. I wanted to lash out what I am really feeling now but I tried to stay calm as possible. It took her more than half an hour repeating everything that she wanted to say.

After that, I decided to meet with her late in the afternoon. It was the same mall where we first went out together. 

“Finally, you arrived.” She said, smiling brightly like nothing happened. I really don’t know how to react this time. I don’t want to cause a commotion here now, so I tried to remain calm as much as possible. It was really crazy how one can act like that. There were really a lot of things running through my mind now. 

We decided to talk to a restaurant that she personally chose, and I just followed her. Pine and I sat down in a space where it was a bit private. We ordered first, and I just stayed there silent all the time. 

“What’s wrong with you?” Pine asked out of the blue. 

I just stared at her, planning to squeeze out the truth from her like this. I wanted to start everything, but I want it to come out from her as much as possible. 

“Why are you not answering me? Did I do something wrong? Tell me so that I can fix it.” She said. 

I pulled out my phone and played the recording. Her face turned white after hearing the recording. Her eyes shifted in different directions, no trying to look at me. 

“Who’s that?” She asked. 

“You better know yourself.” I said. 

“I was just joking with my friends at that time. PLease hear me out, Ray. Everything you heard is not true. I really love you.” 

“You love me or my money? You know what, I really loved you too, but why did you have to do this to me. Let’s break up now, and I don’t want to hear anything from you anymore.” I said and stormed out of the restaurant. My emotions were welling up that time, but I toughen up so that she cannot use that against me. I called my driver and after that, threw away my phone. 

I was really devastated because of the betrayal I received from the person I loved and was ready to give everything.

“Ray, are you listening to me?” Miko said, shaking my shoulders. 

“Sorry, I spaced out for a moment.” I said. 

“What do you mean a moment, you were just staring in space for almost an hour. Did something happen?” He asked.

“Pine.” I said. 

“What? That girl? Is she bothering you again?” Miko asked. 

I just nodded my head in response. 

“So, what did she do this time?”

“She is at Wish and Fly now.” I said. 

“What!? How did she get there? I mean, how did she find out about your whereabouts?” Miko exclaimed. 

“I don’t know either. I am really confused now. Can you call Austin and ask him to tell Pine to leave the premises, or if not, we will file a police report against her.” I said, lying down on my bed again. 

“Yeah, I will. The nerve of that girl. You should rest more, your first appointment will be at one in the afternoon. I’ll take out Lena to eat first.” He said. 

“No, I will go with you. Should we take Lena to the mall and buy her stuff? I’ll just prepare. Go tell her and wait for me in the lobby, okay?” I said, 

“Okay, I’ll tell her. I will go and call Austin first.” Miko said and left the room. 

I closed my eyes trying to erase the memories that flashed back through my mind. My phone rang again, and I thought it was Pine but it was a different person that I didn’t expect to call now. I picked up my phone and answered the call. 

“Are you at your hotel now?” Rosalia asked. 

“Yes, why? Do you need something?” I said. 

“No, I was just checking out on you. You should take things easy on your end and don’t stress yourself out.” My sister said, sounding calm. 

I don’t know but I felt calm hearing her tell me these things, and I was really craving for this kind of attention. I tried to remind myself that she might have a hidden agenda on this one, but hopefully, my sister changed.

“Okay, I will. Thank you.” I said and ended the call. I hope our stay here will not cause trouble to anyone, especially Sun.
