Chapter 14

After taking our dinner, I headed back to my room. I did not notice but the fatigue started to creep up on my body. I can feel my legs getting numb because of excessive walking. My body is not used to this kind of thing. I sat down on the couch and looked around. Seems he is not around here. I did not notice that I fell asleep because of the tiredness in my body.  After drowsing off for about an hour, I noticed that someone was looking at me. It was the same feeling I had before I met Sun. The atmosphere around the room grew a bit chilly because of his presence.  ‘Hey… I can hear someone calling my name. I almost passed out when I opened my eyes. Sun was so close to me. His face was an inch away from mine. I can feel the cool breeze as he was trying to wake me up. I felt my heart almost jump out of my body because of what Sun did.  “Oh my freaking….! I exclaimed.  I saw his sudden change of expression. He was confused when I almost screamed out of fear.  “Sun, can you please move away. You are too close.” My voice trembles.  “Oops, I’m sorry.” Sun said and disappeared in front of me.  When I looked around, he was sitting at the table, smiling at me.  “Please, don’t do it again next time.” I said and placed my hand on my chest. My heart is still banging loudly because of the nervousness I felt.  Sun just looked at me. I guess he did not get what I wanted to tell him. I just looked at him as he was sitting on the bed, switching his leg back and forth.  “So, how are you today?” I don’t know if it was the right question to ask since he is a ghost.  “I don’t know. When I opened my eyes, I was already in your room.”  “Really? As in you are not doing anything in the morning?” I asked.  Sun lied down on my bed as if it was his own. “ I don’t know myself. Everytime I open my eyes, it feels like I was just being transported to a different place. Before I knew it, I was in the orchard, and now in your room.” “Pretty weird for a ghost. Maybe you are not dead yet, haha.” I said jokingly.  Sun took some time before he did respond. I felt he got annoyed with my joke. Even if he is a ghost, well I think it’s an inappropriate joke.  “Maybe.” He responded, his voice down.  There was an awkward silence after that. I stood up and decided to head to the bathroom to clean myself. I don’t know but it felt like he was not happy with what I said. Here I am again, being insensitive. It’s even funny because I hurt the feelings of a soul.  I took my time cleaning myself, washing all of the dust that accumulated in my body. I noticed that there are red spots on my skin. My body still needs to adapt with the surroundings that I am in. After a few moments, I went out of the bathroom.  Something embarrassing happened.  “Ahh!” Sun screamed and dived on the bed, covering his face. I suddenly felt my blood rushing all over my body. Crap, I forgot that I am alone now and I just walked out not wearing anything, even a towel. I hurriedly went back to the bathroom, my heart almost exploding because of the embarrassment.  “What the…. I freaking forgot that Sun was outside. It was really nerve wracking. Well, it’s not new to me to go out in my room wearing nothing, if it’s just me. I also won’t bother if it’s Miko since he is my best friend. But this time, there was a different person, I mean a ghost in my room. I need to be careful next time.  After fixing myself, I hurried out of the room, wearing the pajamas I placed in the hanger.  “I’m sorry about that.” I said.  “It’s okay.” Sun responded shyly. Wait, why am I apologizing to him. It felt pretty weird.  I sat down on the couch again, wiping my head with a dry towel. There was still an awkward silence in the room. I picked up my phone and checked on the emails. It was the same reports that I am receiving. Well, there are new ones about what Miko mentioned earlier. There was a message from my sister, but I did not bother checking on it. I deleted the message without opening it. There was a message from Miko as well.  Sometimes, my friend is pretty weird. We are only a few rooms apart and why did not go here to check on me. I lazily opened the message and was surprised at what he sent me.  “I can hear you talking with someone.”  Damn, I knew it. He is really like my mother. Miko keeps on checking my movements.  “Who?” I replied to his message. I placed the phone on the table and picked up the dry towel.  I noticed that Sun was watching every movement like some sort of CCTV. I shifted my gaze on him, but he looked away.  “Are you okay?” I asked.  “Yes, I am. I should be the one asking that. Are you okay? I saw you frowning earlier when you were checking your phone.”  “Yes, I’m fine. It’s about work.” I said and sat down beside him.  He was surprised by what I did and vanished into thin air. Seconds after, he appeared sitting on the couch.  “Really? Since I am free loading here in your room, maybe you can share with me some things that bother you. I can be someone you can talk with. At Least I have some use, not just loitering around. Also, it’s been  a while since I have someone to talk with, to be honest.” Sun said, smiling.  I was a bit surprised by what he said. A soul, offering to be a listener. Well, even if he is already dead, I cannot trust someone so easily.  “I’ll think about it.” I answered.  “Maybe you can start talking about yourself.” Sun said.
