Chapter 85

“Yes, I remember how your sister was so mad at that time that she wanted to kill Pine. Women are really scary.”  

“You bet.” I said, smiling at all the uneasiness I am feeling now. 

We were about to return, but my phone rang. I told Miko to go first and answered the phone. 

“Hey, how are you?” Rosalia asked. Why did my sister call again? I was hesitant to answer her question but I already picked up the call. 

“I am okay, why? Is there something wrong?” I asked. 

“Oh, good to hear that. It’s nothing. I just heard from one of my employees who was staying at your hotel that your ex-girlfriend went there and caused a commotion.” Rosalia said. 

“I guess news really has wings now. Well, I have taken care of it already.” 

“You could have set a restraining order already so that she cannot go near you.” Rosalia suggested. 

“Well, I can still handle her. What you were asking is a tedious process and I don’t want to go with all of that.” 

“I am just concerned about you. Remember what happened when she first met me, right? We don’t know what that woman can do so you need to be more vigilant. You can run away from them all you want, but sooner or later, you have to face everything again.” She said, and I can feel her worried. 

Did something happen to my sister? Why is she concerned about me? Never in my whole life will I be asked how I was, coming from her and also my family. The fact that she is being kind to me, aside from the offer that she told me, she still needs something from me. 

“I’m fine, Rosalia. I will be more careful next time so don;’t worry. By the way, I have an important person with me, and he will be with me once we meet up.” I said. 

There was a long pause before she responded. “Important person? Who is that? Your new lover?” 

I was shocked by her questions, and it felt like she knew everything that was happening to me. I need to avoid the circumstances where she will find out the truth about Sun. 

“No, some acquaintance. He is working under me, that’s why I am bringing him around.” I lied. 

“Well, that was surprising. You never did that before.” My sister said. 

She was right. It has nothing to do if I did it before, I am doing this to keep Sun safe.

“I’m surprised as well. I need to go now Rosalia, I still have a lot of appointments today.” I said. 

“Sure, be careful next time.” She said and hung up the call. 

After our conversation, I went to where Miko was waiting. He was getting impatient because I did not realize that I took a lot more time. I told her that my sister called me, and asked me how I was after the incident. 

“That sounds really fishy, Ray. Your sister is so updated with what you are doing, and I think she is plotting something.” Miko said. 

“Well, there’s nothing we can do. If it’s about business, that’s fine with me, as long as she doesn't try to control me again.” I said.

There are really a lot of things we need to consider now after the incident with Pine. I am the center of attention again, but luckily we avoided it being published in the papers. Lena will be caught in it, and I don’t want that to happen. 

Before leaving the hotel, I went to check on Lena. She said that she was okay, and we can leave her alone for the time being. I know that she is still shocked by what happened. If I were her, I would be traumatized too being assaulted without knowing the reason why. Making sure that she was okay, I told her that if something comes up, what she needs to do is call us. 

I left the hotel and Miko was already waiting outside. 

“You know what, I wanted to take Lena with us so that she can learn and enjoy being outside, but after what happened we cannot force her. She needed time alone.” Miko said. 

“Yeah, I know. I was really worried about her when she was attacked by Pine. My body did not react on time.” I said. 

“Well, we need to be more vigilant from now on. Your sister is right, and we need to apologize to Simon and Maria once we return to Wish and Fly.” Miko suggested. 

“Sure. Let's do that. Also we still need to take Lena to buy more gifts for the employees at the farm.”  I said. 

For today's appointment, I met up with the people at Chrono holdings. It was the charity for young homeless people that I was funding. I met with the acting director to give with my donations, as well as other stuff the kids can use. I also visited the museum and greenhouse that I own here in the city. 

There was really a long list of people that I needed to visit and meet, and it was exhausting me already. I need to keep up so that all the business that I manage will go well. Miko noticed that I was already out of energy and told me to rest first. 

“You can go back to the hotel first and take some rest. I will handle the remaining appointments that you have except for Ms. Suarez. You need to be fully presentable when you meet up with her. 

“Are you sure, Miko?’ I asked, worried.

“Don’t forget, I am one of your business partners and I know everything so trust me, okay?” Miko said. 

“Okay, I will. Thank you so much, Miko. I don’t know what I will do if you are not around here.” I said, acting like I was wiping my tears. Miko laughed when he saw that. 

“Cut it out, it’s gross. Don’t worry, your best friend will do his best. So go now, rest.”  Miko said, tapping my back. He made sure that I will not drive back so he called one of the attendants from the hotel to pick me up. 

On my way out of the conference building, I saw a familiar silhouette. Chills ran down my spine as soon as I saw the person walking towards the entrance. His aura is still intimidating even if I was not under his care anymore. What should I do now? I literally froze on where I was standing, just taking sight of Abraham, my father. Of all people, why would I bump into my father? 

I tried to force my feet to move but it was no use. I just stared at him as he walked towards my direction, but all of a sudden, a young man pulled me away, talking me to the other side of the hall. I was really sweating so bad because of the mixed feelings that I have right now. 

“Are you okay?” The young man asked, and pulled out a handkerchief from his pocket. He reached out for my hand and gave it to me. 

“Uh, yes. Thank you so much.” I said, regaining my strength after what happened. I am still shaking just because of the presence of my father. I know I am not like this with him anymore, but what just happened? Why am I afraid of him again?

“Do you want me to assist you on your way out? You look really pale. I thought you were having an attack or something, that's why I approached you.” The young man said. 

“I am okay, I just felt a bit dizzy.” I said, wiping my sweat using the handkerchief he gave me. 

“Are you sure? Sorry for asking too many questions.”

“That’s fine. Anyway, thank you.” I said, and smiled at the young man. 

“No problem, by the way, I’m Echo.” The young man said, reaching his hand out again for a handshake. 

“I’m Ray. Thank you so much. I need to go now.” I said and shook his hand for a minute. I hurried out of the area to avoid bumping into my father again. 

I never that the encounter with Echo will give another impact on my life.
