Chapter 57

After briefing me of the documents that I need to sign, Miko left the room to go to the office. I started to work on the documents as well, while waiting for the doctor. I also asked Austin if it’s possible that we can have the shaman visit me in this room. Maybe he can give us a clue about my situation. Later that day, the doctor arrived and checked my condition. So far, there were no other concerns and the doctor advised me to regularly take his prescription. He also cleaned my wound and gave me some ointment to prevent scarring. Most of my staff and workers visited me in the room and gave me some presents. I was really thankful for them, especially for what they are doing now. I also asked Austin to fix the pathway going to the mountainside so that if anyone decides to visit, they can rest too. I also asked them to renovate the small hut for a resting place too. Most of my workers were delighted after hearing that. The day passed just like that, again with no signs of Sun. I decided to go out before dusk to help Cynthia in the kitchen. I was bored sitting in my room all day. I also wanted to take some fresh air. I was busy looking at the surroundings when I accidentally bumped into something. It was Cynthia and the box that she was carrying fell, spilling it’s contents. Helping her pick up the things, I asked. “Are you okay, Cynthia? Sorry, I was busy looking around and I did not notice you. “Yes Sir, that’s okay.” She said, and continued picking up the pieces of paper. We continued on stacking up the things and I noticed that there were also pictures in there. There was one particular picture that caught my attention. It was the owner of this farm, and his wife. They were standing at the front entrance of the farm, and together was a kid, who was happily smiling. I looked closely, and the child looked so familiar. My instinct was telling me not to put back the picture, to take it away. I tried to resist that urge, but in the end, I hid it fast enough in my pocket. The picture was really drawing me in, especially that smiling kid in the photo. My heart was beating crazy because of what I did. I need to give this photo back soon. Cynthia and I went together to the kitchen and helped in preparing dinner. The other workers were insisting that I should just sit down and wait for the food, but I told them that I am perfectly fine already. I can feel the warmth from everyone, which I really liked. This was the first time I felt it, unlike from my old household. Miko arrived later, and the food was almost finished. We were about to eat when we heard a loud scream from the main house. Miko and I hurried back to the main house. I don’t know but I was feeling nervous about what was going to happen next. In front of the door of my bedroom was Lena, sitting on the floor, shocked as if she saw something. “Are you okay, Lena?” Miko asked. “A thief!” She pointed at someone inside my room. Crap! A thief? Or did she saw Sun?
