Chapter 100

625 Words
Fifteen minutes had passed but there was no sign of  Marga. We tried to be calm as much as possible so that we would not startle her too.  Then, we suddenly heard a shrill scream coming from the opposite direction. What’s happening now? Everyone rushed to the direction where the voice came from, and the caretaker was looking at someone, pointing her fingers.  We were at the Water Lagoon and there was a huge water slide, and there at the top of the slide was a little girl. She was looking at us and started waving her hands.  “Marga!” The caretaker shouted. The little girl was just waving her hands and was smiling brightly, thinking that she wanted to play.  “How did she get there?” Sun asked.  “I don’t know. To think the staff oversee this and the kid passed them without noticing.” Lena said.  A staff from the amusement park approached us, lowering his head.  “Sir. this area is currently off limits and not open with the public since we are doing some renovations especially that slide. If you would notice, there is a sign at the front of the attraction.” The staff explained.  I sighed after hearing what the staff said. He is right, and I cannot blame anyone because what happened was really unexpected.  “Oh my goodness!” The caretaker said and pointed at where Marga was. The kid was attempting to ride the inflatable on the slide. She kept on waving at us. I realized what the caretaker told me about this little girl.  “Sir, we need to get her down. The water is low and might injure the little girl if she slips accidentally, without her safety harness.” The staff said.  Everyone panicked as soon as they heard what he said. The police were still on their way to the amusement park since they accidentally got caught in a traffic jam. Of all times, they were caught up in that kind of situation.  The staff was trained with safety measures and first aid, but they never encountered this kind of situation. So, everyone was starting to panic on what to do.  “I’ll go up and pick up Marga.” Sun said,  “What?” Everyone exclaimed.  Smiling in response, he was looking confident to lessen the panic that everyone was feeling. “I noticed that the passage up there is a bit smaller than usual since it’s made for kids, and it will be easier if I go up there. I might fit properly and can get there in no time.”  “I will not let you do that, we need to have a professional handle this. What if something might happen to you? Also, the safety of Marga?” I said,  “Look at the sky, Ray. It’s starting to rain. It will be dangerous for Marga if we don’t make a move now. Trust me, I will be very careful and make sure that Marga and I will be safe.” Sun said, reassuring us.  “Let’s trust him, Ray. Sun can do this, and let’s be more confident. What we need to do is to stay in standby and have everyone prepare to make sure that everything will go smoothly.” Miko said, tapping my back.  “Now, since it’s settled. I’ll go now.” Sun said, calling some of the staff to accompany him to open the gate at the Water Lagoon ride.  It was starting to drizzle and the wind was getting chilly as we were standing there in standby. Everyone was looking up at the direction of Marga.  What I can do now is pray that both of them will be safe.
