Chapter 1
The plan was clear and well calculated. They would arrive at the dock and have the smuggled goods transported to the warehouse. Simple and brilliant, except that now, nothing was going according to plan.
“Hey Chad, step on it. The cops are right behind us.” Nate barked at the man behind the wheels as he swung his head back and forth watching the police gaining on them.
Chad whipped his head around and caught sight of the wounded men in the vehicle. Everywhere reeked of blood and as if that wasn't bad enough, the chances of them dying in the van were high.
"They need to get to the hospital boss. They’re loosing a lot of blood.”
Nate bit his bottom lip, resisting the urge to smack Chad on the head with the butt of his gun. He didn’t want to die, not yet.
“You must be crazy. Risk our lives and get caught?” He glanced over to the men whose motion has become extremely sluggish due to loss of blood.
“They are strong men. They'll be fine.”
As if to grunt in disapproval one of the men grunted.
The shoot out with the cops had been smooth and deadly, it seemed as though their activities were tipped off to them. The attack was very unexpected.
“s**t, s**t, shit.” Nate cursed in anger.
The man lying in his own blood yet to pass out stared at him in fear, Nate screaming meant only one thing.
“I think we lost them.” Chad gushed in relief as the sounds of the siren had been drowned away.
Nates eyes jumped to the back of the car and truthfully no police vehicles were behind them.
“You’re right I suppose. How’s everyone back there?” His eyes dropped to the unconscious bodies lying there.
He whispers under his breath that he wished they survive.
“Passed out sir, and we can’t go to the hospital. What’s our next move boss?” Chad's voice was thoroughly laced in concern.
Nate fell silent and buried his head in his palms. For the first time in his life, he is genuinely confused without a compass.

Back at the police headquarters, plans to capture Nate and his men were being made.
A middle aged police officer spoke through the receiver attached to his desk, dishing out orders to direct their next course of action.
“Some of their men are wounded, it’s most likely they would visit a hospital. Have officers dispatched in group of threes to every hospital and have a few at every check point. Leave no room to them for escape.”
“Have we been able to pinpoint their location?” He asked, turning to the junior officer behind a computer.
“Not yet sir. I haven’t been able to find a trace of them. It seems as though they just.. disappeared.”
“Nonsense.” He spits, displeased with the response.
“We’re going to catch them, this would be the last time they slip away from our grasp.”
He dropped the receiver in his hands and cracked his knuckles as he thought of a way to finally catch and get rid of them.

Nate didn’t stay confused, he was barely ever confused and if he was, he didn’t stay that way for long.
A plan already formed in his head almost immediately. If Nate couldn’t go to the hospital, the hospital would come to Nate.
He had asked Chad to drive them to a grocery store, the nearest he could find. Part of his plan was to go in disguised while Chad changed the license plates.
The store owner was a pretty young girl with a fake smile on her face.
“Hey, I’ve got a really bad cut. Do you perhaps have a first aid box I could borrow to dress the wound.” His voice is low and tired.
Her lashes fluttered as she looked at him. By her books, he was a very attractive man, full brows with a slit that looked like he’d obtained them from a fight.
“Yes uh, sir, yes sir.” She stuttered clumsily, searching for the box.
Nate looked displeased cause maybe if he didn’t have better things doing, he would have flirted a little with the kid.
She handed him a small white box adorned with red crosses and the moment the box dropped in his palm he took off, jumping into the van that was waiting for him and in less than twenty minutes, they had left the store far behind them.
Chad eyed his boss and the box in his hand, his mouth itched with unasked questions.
“You’re no doctor boss..” “That’s why we’re getting one.” Nate interrupted, barely letting Chad finish his statement.
Chad knew better than to open his mouth, so he glanced at his passed out buddies and the only other conscious person- Nate.
Nate had injuries of his own, a bullet in his arm, but had taken care of that and had a cloth wrapped around the injury.
“There’s a hospital down the road. Drop me off a couple blocks before it and drive around it. I’d be bringing a nurse through the backstory.” Nate Disclosed.
Chad's head bobbed up and down. Not only were they into smuggling, but also kidnapping. He took in a sharp breath, they’d better be smart about this one.
Nate changed into a black hoodie and wiped off traces of visible blood before putting on his nose mask and a blue contact over his grey ones. They always come in handy.
“The cops are already here.” Chad mused as he brought the van to a halt.
“I would be as fast as possible. And wait till I give you a call before you drive at full speed.” Nate grinned to himself.
Time to bring the hospital to him.
