Cage of Promise

“On the grasp of broken strings, of inane harmony, of shoal verses, of lost melody...” Since immemorial, I came to conclude a certain truth: It is even better to reach for something I can never have, than letting go of everything I already have for the sake of a reason. There is a certain point of time, a juncture of a moment, when people are on a cliff of decision but choices flew away and have options no more. At that time, people would just go with the flow with heavy heart and uncertain mind. Because life would be wasted if they keep on fantasizing for something they should not have from the first place. We are all encouraged to reach for something impossible. On the contrary, some things—no matter how easy to achieve—shouldn't be grabbed. Some dreams has conditions, some dreams ask something in return... and I am one of those who stuck on a dilemma. Normal ang buhay ko. Masaya ako at ang pamilya ko. Nakakakain ako nang tatlong beses sa isang araw, at lagi akong may oras para panoorin ang paborito kong teleserye sa telebisyon. Mayroon akong magandang mata, at biniyayaan ako ng tangkad. Para sa akin, sapat na ang lahat. Mayroon din akong talento, hindi ako pahuhuli sa klase, at may trabaho akong pinagkakakitaan. Ngunit dahil sa isang insidente, ang dating perpekto na buhay ay naging miserable... naging isang malaking trahedya. I had the best freedom ever, the greatest peace of mind. I was living in serenity and enthusiasm, until I stuck in a monotonic harmony... in an endless horizon. My freedom is the one that chained me. My happiness is the one that destroyed me—I myself is the one that broke my life. Mas mahirap itong lusutan kaysa sa makakapal at dikit-dikit na rehas. Mas madilim kaysa sa eskinita sa gitna ng maulan na gabi. Mas mataas kaysa sa pader ng abandonadong gusali. Nakakulong ako, hindi sa loob ng bakal o semento. Nakakulong ako... sa isang pangako.
