FORSAKEN

Family, love, loyalty, these are things I was taught to hold dear; I’ve been asked if the reasons behind my actions had been justified. Like I’d had any choice in what had happened, in the beginning, I would have known my answer without question, but now, I’m not sure about a lot of things. Over time the things I held most dear and cherished, were destroyed and thrown in my face like they meant nothing. I kept hoping, that eventually, it would make sense, that the real me would appear and everything would be normal again, whatever normal meant for me now. The line between good and bad had been blurred, no, that’s a lie, it had completely vanished. I guess once you see everything that this world has to offer, something inside you change, whether it be a point of view or entire attitude, nobody walk’s out fully put together; with all the bits and pieces in perfect order. That’s stuff for fairytale’s and happy endings, something this world doesn’t have.  It’s like a rip pulling your feet out from underneath you, and every chance you get to reach the surface, another wave crashes in on you and you sink back down again. I believe in the saying that children are not born evil, it’s the things we witness, the pain we are forced to endure, and all the people we lose along the way. The ones we thought would be here eternity, a forever that we thought really did exist.       ©
