I could feel Kiero’s gaze leaving us as my children and I prepared to leave. He was leaning against the staircase with his arms crossed, silently watching us as my children, all set to go, glanced back at him.
I knew he probably wanted to come with us, but I couldn’t allow it. What if my kids started enjoying his company, and then suddenly Airah calls because her child needs him? My kids would be left hanging, and I couldn’t risk that. I knew that, deep down, Kiero valued Airah’s child more than my own. It wasn’t fair to put my kids in that position.
