when the darkness fades

chapter 7

My eyes where closed but I could hear her, I could hear my mother. ‘Indy, we have to go now’ she said. She grabs my arm which is when I opened my eyes to see her in a panicked state. ‘Indy, we have to go’ she said again. ‘ok, ok, lets go’ I said, next thing I know I waking up in hospital without her, I started crying the tears rolled down my cheeks, I curled up into a balled and closed my eyes trying to wake myself up form this bad dream. 

When I opened them again I was… I was in my backyard on mother and fathers favourite seat in the middle of the garden surrounded by all their favourite flowers, then she appeared as beautiful as the day she left me, my mother was standing in front of me with a loving look on her face. ‘Hello, my beautiful little Indy’ she said, I could speak she was hear with me. ‘How can this be’ I started saying but she just put her hand on my face and told me I need to face my fears and face all the bad things to find myself again or I will never find my peace or my love.

 I was trying to ask her what she meant but she faded away and I woke up in my room. I heard my door open slowly and Grammy puts her head in, ‘You, ok sweet pea’ she asked while walking into the room, I nodded and told her of my dream. Grammy walked over to my dresser and opened the top drawer and pulled out a book and handed it to me ‘I thought you might need this’ she stated, I looked a bit confused until I opened it up and realised it was a journal, 

‘You could use it to jot down your dreams to help you understand them, the doctor said it might help you figure out what your dreams are trying to tell you’. She added. I got up and hugged her, she got me when I did not get me. She turned to walk out the door, ‘Grammy’ I called and she stopped ‘can I ask you something’  Grammy nodded, ‘what was with the conversation you where all having in the kitchen at Luca’s?’ I continued,

 Grammy went a little pale, she started ‘Indy, I wish I could tell you everything but the doctors advise me that you need to work things out on your own, I can fill in things once you have most of it worked out but I cannot tell you anything about your past and please don’t make me or your Uncles, we need you to get better and remember things on your own accord, and not want we remember, is that ok’ I gave a nod knowing that she was trying to help,

 I got a pen and starting noting down what my first dream was, then I remembered the vision type dreams I had in the hospital before I woke up so I noted them down as well. When I was done, I slipped the journal and pen into my bedside table and curled back up and tried to sleep. Next thing I know is Drake knocking at my door telling me to get up and get ready and be at breakfast in 15mins or he will come and jump on me, and knowing him he would.

I called out a yes before getting up and going to the dresser and grabbing a shirt and jeans before heading into the shower, when I was done I towel dried my hair and put it into a braid and the put face cream on and headed to the kitchen where I found Drake all tucking into his breakfast, He looks up with a cheeky grin and says ‘you’re lucky I almost went up to jump on your bed’ we both laugh. . 'Did you sleep well Indy,' Grammy asked, I replied, 'I did thank you after you left'. I grabbed some toast and juice and sat down, 

 I look at Drake and ask ‘Do I have a funny smell’ the look on his face was priceless and couldn’t help but giggle, ‘No, I don’t think you do. You smell like you’ he said, ‘ok’ I said and left it at that. We finished breakfast and where chatting away when Grammy came in and said that she had spoken to the college near here and they would let me start where I left off, Drake smiled ‘ You’ll be aright you will have me to keep you company and keep the boys away’ and then I remember he was only a few years older then me and it would be nice to have someone I knew.

 ‘I will take you today and get what you need and then you start tomorrow’ Grammy said., Go get your shoes and we can go if you want’ she continued. ‘ok’ I said. ‘I’ll come by in the morning around 9 to pick you up and take you with me if you want’ Drake said, I replied ‘ That will be nice, thank you’ and with that Drake was out the door and I headed to my room and got my shoes on and went to find Grammy and off went to get my books and the other things you need  ready to start college the next day.
