‘beep, beep, beep’
Reaching for her alarm she held it up and threw it across the wall, breaking it in to pieces “now that’s more like it,” she groans and shift back under the sheet.
She heard the bedroom door closed and felt the bed dipped “what?” Cade was sitting at the edge of her bed “Jesse called, he says he has sent the invitation for you to attend”
“seriously what invitation and I’m not going” she buries her face under her pillows covering her ears.
Cade pull away her pillows and drag her hands to made her sit up. “Come on, can’t you go I don’t want to”
“don’t you see” Cade sigh “you might meet him there” he nudges her shoulder “your mate, there might be a possibility he’s going to be there”
“hopefully not, I don’t like Betas and Alphas no offense to Jesse but they are too possessive” he pats her on the shoulder, “well sissy look on the bright side, a lot of girls prefer that type” he laugh.
He stood up “I left the letter here on your night stand,” she sighs pulling off her sheet “Cade can I tell you something” he looks at her with worried.
“Are you okay?” he walks towards her again and sit on the bedside “no, yeah I mean actually I don’t know” she mumbled. “What’s wrong?” she took a deep breath “I kind of met my mate.”
“Holy…wait when? where? I mean did he reject you?” she throws him a pillow.
“Uggh gosh seriously is that how low your confidence in me,” she said with disbelief. “What then, your face tells me, I mean just said the word and I’ll kick his ass”
“okay he didn’t reject me, is just that I pump in to him last night and that was it”
Cade look with confused, then she retells him the whole incident from last night why she was at the party and who was she with unfortunately she left out the part in the club. She didn’t want him to know about it he would totally freak out.
After she’s done he pull her in to his arms comforting her “everything is going to be okay, so to forget it all why don’t you take on the invitation”
“What about you?” she asks, “why don’t you want to go?” he ruffle her hair before standing up to go.
“Not my kind of party, it’s boring and oh Jesse already sent you a dress and everything. He also said that you don’t have to worry as you are going as our rep on behalf of him and also the pack. No one knows about our relation” she smiles “thank you Cade I’ll call him today.”
She dials Jesse’s number a few rings suddenly someone picks it up “Beta Gordon speaking,”
“hi Gordon it’s me Veronica can you put Alpha on the phone please,” she said biting her lower lip.
When it comes to Gordon she never has a crush on him or they had a fling, he just made her nervous and he’s the only one who uses her middle name maybe it was because he’s a beta. “Sure, I’ll go get him” she heard him walking away calling Jesse.
A few minute later Jesse was on the phone “Hello baby sis are you okay” occasionally she would never call her brother unless it was urgent, cause she never wanted him to be disturbed from his Alpha duties. He already has a lot on his plate.
“I have the invitation,” she picks it up and read through it, “yeah bout that, I want you to go on my behalf I told them your name is Veronica Hazel Gordon, representing the Nightfall” her jaw dropped
“Are you kidding me, your beta’s name is my last name,” she deadpan.
“Well, it's better than Galwoski, Zabinzki” she bluffs “seriously there are other names but I’ll take it since you already told them, so I don’t see any point of arguing here.”
She paused before asking him “why didn’t you let Cade go?”
“Sweetie I would like that, but Cade and Hunter already have their turn, now it’s your turn to take this an opportunity to know them before the upcoming Annual Event okay.”
She gives it a thought “okay fine I will, so how are you doing?” she tries to change the conversation “I’m good just busy with our pack staff, with the rogues, the hunters and our alliance treaty,” her brother always made her worry every time there is a mention of hunters and rogue and even if they go out at night she will always be worried for them.
She felt like a mother who was protective but in truth she doesn’t want to lose any of them.
“Jesse” she said “yes what it is?”
“take care and thanks you” she didn’t want to cry; she was scared that he might felt weak if he knew his sister is going to cry because of him.
“I will no worries, I promise to visit soon okay” she nodded her head “hmm okay, bye, take care” “love you sis” she smiled. She put her phone on the night stand before grabbing her towel and head to the shower. She saw Cade sitting in the living room watching football, she went to the kitchen grab her breakfast and seated beside him on the couch.
She takes a mouthful of omelet while Cade watch her with amusement, “if your mate ever see you like that he would think that we never fed you” she punches him on the shoulder before swallowing her food “I don’t care, seriously what’s with you and mate” she saw him stiffened.
“What is it, are you okay?” she put down her plate on the table, he smiles at her “I’m good” he run his hand through his hair.
“Ohhh I know, you finally found her,”
“well sort of, I met her last night in the club” she was gonna said which one since she too was there but decided to leave that out, she never told him about her in the club might as well save herself from trouble.
“what’s her name?” she asks “Emerez I think, I met her right after the club” she smile widely holding herself back “what, what?” she crush him in to a hug “finally I’m going to be an aunt.”
He hugs her back “nah not before you, I still want to see my sister get married before me”
“ha ha ha funny.”
She pushes him away, before looking for her phone “going somewhere?” he gave her a question look “I’m texting my friends to see if anyone wants to go shopping since tomorrow is the ball, thank you for the late notice”
“At least Jesse bought clothes”
“still when it comes to us” she did a pose “we need to go all out, remember I want them to know that Nightfall packs she-wolfs are the prettiest and the baddest” she laughs at her brother.
“Yeah yeah”
“oh she’s coming to pick me up” she said with excitement.
“Aren’t you going to change or something?”
“Nope I’m fine with the t-shirt and jeans, this look will never have made me grew tired besides I’m tired to go and change again.”
Within 30 minutes she heard a car horn outside “that’s my que see yah later loser” she ran out of the door. “I got a surprise for you” Stella said “oh really” she replies by nodding her head. The mall was quiet full they went to the hair beauty, then stop by makeup section.
They came to rest at a Japanese restaurant in the mall “so you want anything?”
“yeah I’ll just have sushi and pineapple juice” they paid off their order and settle to a table in the front row.
“When do I get surprise again” Stella roll her eyes “patience my child” Stella saw her friend playing with her hands. She tried to make up conversation to wait for her surprise, “so you’re going to the ball,” “yeah I have no other option” a waiter came with their food “thank you” she said to the waiter.
“My brother is expecting me to go before the Annual Festive, I have to blend in and none of them knows my name by the way I’ll be Ms. Gordon from tomorrow onwards”
“no way” they both laugh “can you believe that.”
She saw Stella looking around as if to find someone “Ella are you alright” she smiles at her friend “there she is” she waves behind her, she turns her around and came to face with Jane whom Stella run up to hug her before looking back at her with a big grin on her face
“Surprise.”
