"So, Zachary Oakes, vampire hunter huh?" Adam finally asked May in his cocky voice. She knew he had been dying to ask her as soon as he woke up, and now as they ditched the car and made the rest of the way on foot towards the Port. It finally burst out of him. "I mean don't get me wrong, I will die in peace knowing that it only took me 50 years of life to hear the word please like that come out of your mouth."
"I've only known you 31 years" She corrected.
"And I do have my regrets in those 31 years. Like I should of made you beg a bit more! You have dealt with a vampire hunter before, remember? So what's with this one? Is he related the other one. I bet it's a family thing, vampire hunting. There isnt really a college course for that stuff.
"
May took a moments pause. She had considered that the man she shot 4 years ago was related to the vampire hunter in some way. After all there aren't a lot of them around. She kept denying herself that they could be, and the haziness of the details of that memory kept her happy in her delusion. But Adam had said it out loud and he was right. The watch - the old guy in the office building had been wearing one that night. That's what he meant when he asked what level she was. And he talked briefly about his sons... it was. I killed his father. Her heart beat loudly in her chest.
"Whoa, whoa! What kind of response is that! " Adam objected to her heat beating so loud.
"May, I have never seen you like this. You always have killer remorse but not like this 5 years after!"
"It was 4. And he grew up without a father."
"He was 22! The same age as you when you."
"Just don't!" May stopped him from continuing. "I know it's all...everything is confusing. He is back in New York, we'll get to the bottom of this Krsnk business and I'll return back home when he has gone, which will be soon if you did what I asked."
"You made me scare the s**t out of his girlfriend, you really think he is going to go running to her and not wait for you? I mean after your heart rate just then...."
" Yes! He will! Now zip!".
They were in sight of a cruise ship now, only a few lights were on, on board as it stood tall at Port.
"That liner isn't listed on the arrivals or departure for the port." Adam informed her in a hushed tone.
"Its also registered to the logistic company that shipped the sirens to New York a few days ago." She added.
She was pleased but annoyed that Adam had done his research. It wasn't like her to come to a scene without all the information. She just couldn't shake this Zach guy from her mind and it was effecting her work already.
The wind bought essences to their noses and were almost overcome by the smell.
Vampires, wolves, sirens and a witch! They all couldn't possibly be onboard!
"Is this Hotel Transylvania Cruise or what!" Adam whispered in the same disbelief she was in.
She covered her mouth to prevent a laugh from coming out. She would normally be able to brush his jokes off easily and roll her eyes at him. But it had been far to long, and she had indeed missed him and his stupid 'humour'.
"Red is in there. I can smell her... we have to get her out she will need us." Adam whispered looking fearful this time.
Red was the nickname Adam gave the witch they aided together months ago. She wouldn't be out on a vampire cruise liner in Florida by choice! Not after what she endured by the hands of vampires. Well one vampire in particular.
Adam had fallen for her, it was obvious to May the first time he laid eyes on her years ago, how he broke protocol and interfered to aid her instead of just gathering intel. It was like 'Red' had become the centre of his world.
"Before we get ahead of ourselves lets just stick together on this and find out exactly what is going on. O put this on!"
She passed a blood blocker to Adam from her pocket. " Yeah I noticed you swiped all of them. Deem me worthy do you?"
That comment was easy to give an eye roll to.
"You by any chance didn't "borrow" David's explosives did you. As that backpack looks awfully full.."
"Had to battle some creepy crawlies for em." He smiled.
"When Red is out, we will." He added
May groaned. "Okay, you whipped bitch."
They scaled up the massive white cruise liner from the starboard side. Using their claws to get a nice grip on the hull as the climbed up to the deck. In the shadows of night they used their silencers and were able to take out a few unlucky vampires who met their path. Shooting them in the head and letting them fall into the ocean far far below. With the waves crashing into the side of the cruise liner the bodies hitting the water didn't make much of a sound.
"There is too many of them." May whispered to Adam.
"Let's set them up in the engine room and get Red. Okay? We can deanate it when she's out."
Fine! Adam mouthed at her with a pissed off expression of his face.
They were able to find the staff ladders at the rear of ship and made their way down, careful not to make a sound. They found the perfect spot for the explosives and hand signed some choice words to try and sway the other that their own set up was more efficient. May let Adam have it. She hoped that it might let him listen to reason (aka her) if things got tricky with the witch. She knew it was wishful thinking though, she had never been able to talk him out of anything when it came to her.
