Luna the Illuminated

“Alpha.” It was Pax outside his door. Baron barely opened his eyes, “Yes?” “I think you need to come out here.” Pax sounded anxious. Baron pulled himself out of bed and opened the door. “Yes, Pax.” “Rena said she heard a ghost coming out of the waves just now. “ The pack in general knew that only Baron went down to the ocean. They didn’t know the way in the dark especially. “A ghost?” Baron was confused and then just a slight scent entered his nose. His heart quickened “No.” He pushed past Pax and Rena and quickly made his way down the rocky cliff to the ocean. His heart was racing and his feet were not fast enough for him and her scent grew stronger and stronger. “Adella!” He screamed as he hit the bottom of the cliff and the cool sand touched his feet. He stopped for a moment letting his eyes adjust and then there she was. His heart stopped and his head began to swirl as he raced over to her. Tears streaming down his face he reached her and she was barely breathing as he picked her up in his arms. “Oh my love. My love.” He said. She was shivering and latched on to him with one arm. She was tiny, he could feel all her ribs in his hand. With sure steps he ran her up the cliff to the waiting pack. Her hair dangled from his arm and the full moon illuminated it from above as Baron made his way toward his house. The pack just watched as he ran by them and then they followed him. Wanting to be there for their Alpha, he was feeling so many things. He entered his home and brought her straight to the bed and wrapped her in the blankets and then turned to start the hearth up to warm the room up for her. One of her hands was sticking out of the blanket and it was so skinny he could see every bone in her fingers. As soon as he was able to get back to her he heard a knock on the door. He opened it and it was a pack member who made her some soup. He thanked her and took the soup. He sat on the floor next to her and propped her head up on two pillows. Gently moving her hair away from her face and he almost gasped out loud at how gaunt her face was. She opened her eyes barely and gave him a faint smile. “Here, Love.” He held up the bowl and took the spoon and set up to her lips. She leaned forward and took it in. She looked at him and she saw the concern in his eyes and his expression as he carefully brought the spoon up to her lips.He repeated the same motion until it was all gone. “Rest now Love, you are safe here.” He kissed her forehead as she closed her eyes. He stood there looking at her a long time. She was here, in the flesh. She had come back to him. He pulled up a chair and took her hand into his and just held it watching her breath. He mindlinked Pax and canceled training for tomorrow. She was still shivering and he decided to wrap her up in his arms. He slid himself beside her and as he wrapped his arm around her waist and he felt it. He felt her hard stomach and it even twitched under his hand. His heart jumped as the thought and he had to make sure. He pulled the covers back and there it was, her pregnant stomach. Then he saw a tiny little foot slide along her abdomen as if to say Hi. He covered her back up and pulled her even closer and that was when he notice the lock collar on her neck. She had been held captive somewhere. Anger boiled inside of him at the thought. As if she felt him she snuggled into him and pulled his arm around her. He would deal with that later he figured as he relaxed next to her and pulled her close with a protective hand over his unborn child. He fell into a deep sleep like none he’s ever had before. When he woke up she was still there, it was’t a dream. Last night really happened. The birds were chirping a bit louder than normal this morning and Baron could feel the pack was busy this morning. She was his number one priority now. He kissed the top of her head and pulled her closer. She clicked at him and he knew she was happy. He laid there and just soaked her up feeling her skin against his. She rolled against him and put her hand on his chest looking up at him, she was awake. “I am sorry.” The words caught in her throat. “No, Love, it is I who is so very sorry. To the depths of my soul I felt the pain I caused you. I cannot take back what has been done, but if given the opportunity I would gladly take the rest of my life to make it up to you somehow.” He gently touched her cheek and brushed her hair out of the way. “You are my other half. From this day forth you will be treated as such. Your place is next to me and just has strong as me. Sortas is not allowed to speak to you, to touch you ever again. He is not allowed to speak to me about you. He is not allowed to think about you, he does not deserve you. I will grovel at your feet and ask for forgiveness if that is what you want.” He kissed her gently on the forehead. She reached up and touched his hand on her cheek. “I want to move forward with our child. That is what I want most.” Her voice was raspy but strong. “Yes, My Love. I would love that.” He began scooting out from the bed. “We need to get you more food, and you are going to tell me who I am going to go kill that did this too you.” Baron stood up, his giant figure looming over the bed, he turned and walked out of the house to make his way to the pack house. “I will be back with food.” Adella laid in her bed. The bed she had dreamed about and it was everything she remembered. She pulled the covers up to her chin and enjoyed the moment. His blue eyes showed the love and concern any woman would dream about having from their man. As Baron walked down to the pack house he called everyone to come to the eating hall. People were talking amongst themselves as he called the meeting to order. “Last night I found my lost mate, her name is Adella. She is my equal, my other half. Our pack will be even stronger with her. Please welcome her back into my life.” “Alpha.” Pax stepped up “Yes, Pax.” “We would like to refer to her as our Luna. The full moon lit her hair like a lightening bolt as she came onto our pack lands. This morning all the food storage was full, the eggs were doubled and the goats gave us more milk than ever before. We can feel her power and we feel the that she harnesses the power of the moon and would like to show our respect by calling her Luna.” Pax stepped back. “Very well then. She is our Luna.” Everyone cheered excited for their Alpha to finally be happy. He excused everyone and made his way to the kitchen for more soup for her. A young girl was fixing the food for her Alpha when he entered the kitchen. She was just finishing plating it and he was standing there. “Say, could you and some of your friends bring a bath and hot water to my house? I know it is a lot of work but I would really like it if Adella…I mean your Luna could get a nice warm bath.” “Yes, Alpha. I will get right on that.” She bowed a bit and quickly left the room excited she might be able to see her Luna. “Thank you.” He took her food and left the room as well. Adella pushed herself up a bit more in the bed as Baron fed her soup, bread and goats milk. It all felt so good to her, the warm food, the thick milk coated her sore throat. “Ahh..thank you My Love.” She was finally able to smile at him. “Are my dressing gowns still here?” “Of course, nobody else was ever coming in this house again. All of your things are here.” He was astonished that she thought he would just toss her stuff out. He snorted a bit “I wouldn’t have tossed your stuff even after a million years of waiting for you.” “I didn’t mean it like that My Love.” Her voice was still so gentle and even sweeter than he remembered. There was small knock on the door and Baron answered it. Three young ladies were standing there with a bath tub and towels and huge smiles on their nervous faces. Baron stepped aside and let them in and the set the bath down next to the hearth for warmth and then quickly left the room for the warm water. Baron didn’t think anything of it but when he looked over at Adella he saw the million questions in her eyes. “It looks like I have some explaining to do.” Adella nodded in response as her heart was sinking. “No, no it’s nothing like that Adella.” Baron grabbed the stool and sat next to the bed. “Things have changed around here. All these people that live here now are part of our pack. They are all people like me with a wolf. They can change as well.” He went on to recount when they found him and what they have been working on since then. He told her all about Pax and the pack house. She understood better when he was done and was interested in seeing what they have done to the place. As knock interrupted them again and Baron let in the three girls. “This is Anna, Cercie and Helda.” They all bowed and in unison “Luna.” “I have asked them to bring the bath and the water here and help you clean up. You will feel a lot better.” Adella could tell it wasn’t really a question but a request. “Hello girls. Who is Luna?” “You are. I am Alpha which means leader and you are Luna because you are the female leader. They wanted to call you something like that to show respect for your status as my mate and your power you possess. “ Baron closed the door and began helping the girls pour the buckets of hot water. “Oh.” Adella felt a bit overwhelmed but went with it, she was sure it all makes sense as soon as she could get around. “Well, let me know when to jump in.” She sat back in bed waiting for them to finish their work.
