CHAPTER 5

Zeus Silvers POV (Alpha of Silvers Pack)

Before The Crossing

A new day begins as my rule over this pack started.

My packmates are still afraid of me due to me being the son of Lucifer and the strongest one known to exist in this lifetime.

They follow orders and are not reluctant to do so, but in a sense of closeness, we maintain a professional behavior towards one another.

Being the Alpha of the Silvers pack, the strongest of all the packs in this world has its perks.

I rolled out of bed to look out the glass pane overlooking the area of my pack land.

I can see that the pack soldiers are training now.

Looking at the clock, the time was 5 AM.

I decided that I’ll go out for a run across the land to check on things and make sure that no anomalies are present.

I’ve been getting reports that demons from other areas have attacked their packs and that they rouse from the ground.

There is no portal connecting this area of ours to theirs that’s why I’m sure there will be no demons present but we always double-check for any new holes that might appear.

Joggling down the stairs, I made my way to the kitchen first before going out.

Our pack cook, Leonora who was already quite old was there and smiled when I went to.

“Hi Alpha, what would you like to eat for today?” she gestured towards the plates of foods that she has already prepared.

This person was the only one treating me warmly in this packhouse.

“Just the usual gran,” I told her before reaching for the delicious plate of bacon with eggs.

I also got myself bread from the table and proceeded to eat alone as no one dared to eat with me when it’s my turn to.

-Alpha, when are you going to get here?- My Beta started off mind linking me.

-I’ll be there when I finish my breakfast, I need to check out our lands as per usual, I’m taking you with me- I proclaimed and shut off the link when I heard his approval.

Taking the time to eat, I pondered over how my life in this world was going.

Lucifer threw me here for a purpose, and although I didn’t have a choice in the matter then since I was only a newborn I am now forced to live with the foretold prophecy of theirs.

Shaking myself awake, I discarded my plate to the sink. Someone will clean it later.

With that thought in mind, I went out and shifted.

My wolf was pretty silent as he didn’t like to be bothered with problems not related to him directly. He’s only grumpy because we haven’t met our mate yet and we have no idea if there ever will be one for us.

Always feeling lonely for seeing couples and families in our pack and being happy for their life together. I have always wished that my life would be like that.

Resting with the thought of someone I’ll spend the rest of my life with and not be bothered with the problems of the pack, my relationship with others, and more.

As I was lost in thought, I met my Beta halfway through to watch over our lands together.

‘Good Morning Alpha’ he greeted.

My Beta was a responsible person, I could say that he really is thorough in dealing with pack matters.

All of our accounting and more are being overseen by him.

His name is Riley, he is 25 years old. He hasn’t met his mate yet and is now waiting.

It was always his mantra to be surprised than sorry, and wait for the perfect timing for things to fall into place.

Stopping my thought process on that, I began to run as fast as I could to get the exercise I definitely needed and appreciate the beauty of nature surrounding us.

The smell of the forest and hearing all the animals and insects near clearer than ever thanks to my wolf hearing, I ran like my life depended on it.

Always trying to push myself further to my limits if there is any I ran for what seemed like hours when it was only 2.

I dashed for the clearing where a lake was present to admire the way the sun-glazed over the clear water. Allowing myself to take a sip of water, I calmly did so.

This world is beautiful, if only people only knew to search the beauty in everything they encounter, life would be so much better and kinder to each of us.

My Beta was still behind me as I was much faster than anyone else, and I knew that he will let me have my ‘alone’ time for this morning as he knows that it helps me calm down and think of the things I need to think.

My pack members are quite aloof on me as their Alpha but they are very aware of my mood whenever it shifts.

They are also very careful around me,

I sighed.

Why do they have to be so afraid of me when I won’t even hurt a butterfly for that matter.

I wished we were close in the aspect of they treat me more like someone they can turn to when problems arise. Not when they have no choice but to seek my help when they really needed.

For other matters, they don’t bother me.

It’s like I’m an outsider but not really in my own pack.

The Luna of this pack before (my mother) was more approachable than me, as what I heard of her from Leonora as she was already here when my mother ruled beside the Alpha.

They were mates, and Lucifer forced her to bear his child knowing this fact and never caring.

I guess that’s why all of the family members of the Former Alpha hated me to the core.

I was the reason why their Luna is gone, and also why their Alpha is dead.

From what I knew, they were very kind rulers. You can always count on them whenever.

I guess Lucifer’s sole purpose of existing was to destroy others' relationships and wreak havoc whenever and wherever he pleases.

For that very matter, I am definitely not like him.

I’m just not very good at communicating with others and not letting them be controlled by fear even before them asking my help to solve certain problems.

It was like I was just thrust into this world and be forcefully accepted by this pack as I am still my Mother’s son and they had no choice but to look after me when I got thrown here for not being demonic and powerful like Lucifer thought I’d be.

Stopping my thoughts in that, I decided that these kinds of things will no longer bother me. What's more important is that they follow and do what needs to be done.
