Chapter 8

Elkirah’s POV

Waking up in total darkness, I kinda panicked a little.

I took a minute to adjust my vision.

Why is my wolf silent when I finally met our mate, I wouldn’t know because she isn’t answering me too.

She is also not lending me her superpowers if that’s what you call it due to unknown reasons I can’t determine yet.

I sighed, telling myself that she probably just needed some time to get some space.

What a moody one that is.

Looking for the person beside me, I was surprised to see that he was gone.

I made my mission to roam around the halls after I wore the big fluffy bathrobe that was in the bathroom, it’s a chilly night today and I am quick to get cold.

Taking a peek out of the bedroom door, I fully made my way out when I saw that no one was there.

The lights were automated, they turn on when they detect movement which is really nice. Although it surprised me a little because I thought someone was opening them for me.

Chuckling to myself because I realized that I am silly, I continued making my way out and taking note of the way and remembering how I can be able to return to our room later.

I roamed around their packhouse.

Thankfully at this time of the night (which I still didn’t know btw), no one is roaming around the halls.

It wasn’t hard to find my way due to the different styles each of the room has, the style in our room was elegantly modern, and the other rooms I guess would be the recommendations of the ones living in them.

I decided that I should find the study/library area in order to read books seeing as I can’t sleep but not before going to the kitchen to get some warm milk.

Going down the stairs which are so big, I made my way to the kitchen as I saw it when Zeus brought me here.

I had a hard time locating where the utensils were, I just wanted to find a cup and when I turned around, I let out a little squeal.

There was someone here.

“Oh honey, sorry for scaring you. What might you be needing at this time of the night?” she asked.

“I was just going to get a cup of warm milk but I can’t seem to find where the cups are,” I replied.

“ Can I ask who are you?” I said again.

“ I’m Leonora, I manage the kitchen here. Are you the Alpha’s mate? Your face is new here.” she queried.

“Yes, I’m Elkirah,” I said

She further handed me my cup of milk and I asked where the directions towards the study/library room would be if there is any. She smiled warmly at me even though I seemed to be bothersome because I am up this late. She explained that the Alpha is often up at this hour and is also in the study room.

I thanked her for her assistance and went up towards the direction she pointed to with my cup of milk in hand.

Finding the double doors that she mentioned, I made my way inside only to see my mate taking care of tons of paperwork in the center of many books around him that is arranged like a whole-ass library literally.

He looked up at me and said Hi, and inquired what I’m doing up so late in the night.

“I couldn’t sleep,” I said to him.

“Why’d you leave me? I was reaching for you in bed.”

“I’m sorry, I get too wary with you because we seem to hurt each other whenever our skin touches each other.” He replied.

“Oh,” I said and kept quiet.

“I’ll just read here with you I guess,” I proclaimed while setting down my cup of warm milk and finding a book to read.

“Angels and Demons”

I saw this book immediately because it’s the only white and black colored one. It was able to pique my interest because it was just in the 1st row of books.

Picking that up, I made my way to settle on the chair beside the table where I left my drink in.

I then read it.

After opening the book, I was quick to notice that it was kind of old. The writings was weirdly done. If you know how to do calligraphy but in the old times, it’s how this looked like. I read the first chapter of it.

I knew that I was a fast reader in terms of finishing books immediately after I touch them.

I can say that I can read a 500 paged book in 1 hour. If the story really excited me.

This book was just that,

The first chapter was about Angels and how they were constructed with white eyes and golden hair which were long and reached up to their toes for females. Males were just a tad bit differently made, it was said that the males had white eyes and had the most enchanting look with their hair styled differently.

Angels had the capacity to fly with their wings transparent in the naked eye of humans and wolves alike and they also had many superpowers that are not yet known.

It was said that they had weapons that guarded them for any danger to come, it came in all sorts of form depending on what they wanted it to look like. But it was also noted that it wasn’t seen with the naked eye of many.

Their halos were powerful parts of them. It gave them immortality and powers that work against evil.

Their blood melted those that were evil borne out of the depths of hell, which was kind of familiar with what happened to me back in my pack.

I wasn’t aware that I slept through most of the chapters and slipped out of consciousness.

I was only woken up by the nightmare that I had…

“Child of light, heed my warning. Thou shall not let your mate go out of the land, for he will not return the same.”

“You are the only hope of us, find others like you.”

“You may not know who I am yet, but I only look out for your safety”

“Thy powers are waked”

“Find your weapon in yourself”

“Elkirah!” my mate bellowed.

That snapped me awake.

I felt like dreaming still, I noticed that I was glowing. My hands were emitting a white light that was blinding my eyes and I pointed it at him.

I was in a trance and looked at him and said,

“Stay.” And pushed him away from me.

While doing so, he immediately reached out only to be flicked back in the room.

“Elkirah, stop it!” he said

“What’s happening to me?” I said panicking.

The room shook and there were books flying out of their shelves. The wind was picking up their speed it was enough to cut in all directions.

Zeus was trying to make his way to me still, and I knew that the air was cutting him like crazy.

“Elkirah, I’m here.” He continued.

“Don’t panic! You’ll split the packhouse in two!” he bit out while panicking himself.

I don’t know what happened next, with the flick of my hand. Everything went back to normal as if nothing happened, with the exception of Zeus blood leaking out of his wounds.

I was then gone in darkness.
