Chapter 3

Ray’s POV (ALPHA OF WHITE PACK)

As soon as Elkirah looked up at me, her eyes turned completely white before she lost consciousness.

I reached for her as fast as I could so that her head will not hit the ground. She doesn’t heal fast even if her wolf takes over. Half wolves are more human-like as they go.

“Beta Grayson, Call an available pack Doctor to immediately look after her. This time tell them her eyes turned white before completely losing her consciousness.” I ordered

“Yes Alpha” was his reply while carefully taking her from my hold and carrying her back to the pack house.

She’s always been such a mystery to this pack, her nature is more human but her wolf can take over her body when needed. This has never happened before, I haven’t seen her shift or anything yet even when I order her to and only her heightened senses can help her distinguish some things that pure wolves can easily do. I don’t know if her kind also have mates too but I sure hope they do. This kid has always been alone all her life.

Turning my focus back on the sight of disaster, I concluded that the message was meant for a female.

I don’t know the reason why this attack happened at our lands and the reason why her eyes suddenly turned white.

Sniffing around deep, I focused my attention to my surroundings. There was no sign of danger anymore and the only clue we have is the one on this clearing.

“Take samples and process them at the lab for us to identify who’s eyes are used in sending this message.” I ordered a pack fighter this time.

Pointing out my fingers at the other 2,

“Come with me to make sure that there is no threat left near our borders, we need to make sure it’s safe.” I bit out before shifting.

My wolf was more worried about what killed his men and wants vengeance.

Running through our packs border back and forth, we found no trace whatsoever of the thing that attacked them.

Mind-linking all the members of my pack which holds their own rank I said

“Meet me in the conference room in 10 minutes, we’ll figure out what the heck happened to our fighters,”

Running at full speed back to the pack house, trying not to think of the bodies that were mutated and cruelly killed by an unknown force.

The Meeting

“What was their purpose on why they attacked us?!” A man in his 30s said, he is Troy the Gamma of our pack. He was in charge of our land in the west side of town when the attack happened.

“They want to kill the daughter of light, according to the message they left in the woods.” I answered calmly thinking over who it could be.

Hearing a bunch of growls and angry wolves in the background, I tuned them out.

Could it be Elkirah? I don’t know the reason why she suddenly passed out and her eyes suddenly turning white. Moon Goddess please no. The child has already been through so much.

Inhaling deeply and focusing on the matter at hand,

“ We need more pack fighters circling around our borders, tighten the security on our females and young. All abled male fighters should be on the lookout for the attackers going back. I already sent the samples to the lab, I’m just hoping that it will help us find answers on what it could be in order for us to piece these things together.”

The Beta, Grayson mind-linked me that she is still out and resting in her room and asked if he would come up.

“No, Stay there until further notice.” I replied closing the link to us and not waiting for a reply. There’s already so much stuff I’m dealing with now.

“How was the situation in the North and South side?” I asked my 2 best fighters.

“Nothing was out of sort Alpha.”

“There was also nothing in the South.”

I sighed,

“Send more troops in the East side. We have 10 dead bodies and 5 heavily injured ones. We must get ready for the burial process. Let their family say goodbye to them and burn their bodies after.”

“Dismissed until further notice.”

I turned my back on them and went to shower as I still smelled of blood and grime because I went through all the dead bodies to get here.

Elkirah’s POV

Waking up to the smell of food, I readily reached for it with my hands only for my hands to be swatted away by a slap.

Forcing my eyes open, I squinted until it focused and the culprit was none other than the packs Beta.

Rolling my eyes at him I sat up and asked,

“What happened?”

“You passed out.” Was his short reply

“For how long?” I asked

“5 hours”

“Why are you here in my room?” I shot back

“The Alpha ordered me to.”

“Argh! I’m so dead” I quickly pushed my face in my pillow and dramatically called out Savvy.

“She’s not here, she just went and brought you food and left”

“o-kay” was my reply that ended our conversation.

Beta Grayson was a formal man in his late 40s. Unlike the Alpha, he has found his mate and he also has a son that would inherit the title when he decides to retire. However, his son is still in training. Savvy has a huge crush on him.

Grayson was quite reserved for someone who has a bunch of hyperactive kids running around him when he is not working. I think there are only a number of times I saw him smile throughout the year. I think he gets tired of managing everything.

“Can I eat now?” I pretty pleased

“Wait for the Alpha to come”

“Where is he anyways?” I asked, again. Ugh. Food is life.

“On his way down.”

And at that moment, the door to my room opened and there stood Ray.

“Hi” I greeted him.

“I’ll take my leave now Alpha” Grayson said

“Sure, thank you for babysitting this big baby of ours.” He gushed

“Stop it, I’m 23 already you know?” I proclaimed to no one in particular as he continued to ask how I’m feeling.

“What did the Doctor say?” I questioned.

“Nothing you need to worry about, you were just tired dear” Ray answered quite rushed I might say.

Something definitely is up I thought to myself as I’m finally allowed to eat after reassuring Ray that I’m fine.

“I had a weird dream today.” I started

“What happened?” Ray curiously asked.

“It’s about me finding my destined and such” I shrugged as I continued savoring the steak that was served just for me.

“I don’t really remember the other stuff, It’s just really weird.” Laughing it off, I looked up and saw that he was staring intently at the windows, almost ready to s***h someone that wasn’t there.

“Hey, you okay?” I asked while poking his shoulder.

“13 fighters died, only the other 2 survived the attack. They’re looking for some daughter of light. Your eyes turned completely white before you passed out. I just have so many things to think about today.”

“Get some rest, I filed the leave of absence for 3 days in the hospital.” He continued to say

Knowing that I will not get anywhere with the argument I’m about to say, I complied.

After the Alpha left my room, I continued to think about what happened earlier, staring at my hands.

“Glow!” I pushed for it and nothing happened.

Maybe I’m just tired…

Thinking and overthinking some more.

I was lulled to sleep by the cold weather and the comfort of my bed.
