“Dante what have you done?” Erin spoke from the doorway but I only barely registered she was speaking.
“Madeline!” I watched her body go limp and she crumpled started to crumple to the floor. I rushed to catch her, catching her upper body in my arms and bringing her down to the floor slower, keeping her from hitting the floor and bashing her head. Mom’s soft voice overlapped my frantic whisper.
“Madeline. Maddie, please, Maddie.” I pleaded brushing a silken curl from her face and willing her with my entire being to open her eyes, even if just to glare at me, just open them.
