Training 2.0

The next morning I woke to gratefulness and thankfulness. However, I knew that those feelings were coming from Haze. I turn over and look at him, he had been watching me sleep.  "Are you okay?" I asked. "I am great. Are you okay?" He smiled and wrapped an arm around me. I knew he could that I was more than okay, but he wanted to here me say so. "I am also great." I lean forward and kiss him.  We stay that way and talk about everything from yesterday.  "I'm hate that you have to keep yourself hidden and that you will be apart of the demon war." He pulled me even closer, as if trying to protect me from all of the bad things in the world.  "It is a little scary, but last night when I put up that barrier I gained more confidence in my gift. You have been so supportive, I know it's been hard on you, but thank you. I have a purpose now, well more than one, and for the first time in years I actually believe in my future. I have you, I am no longer sick, I have been given a gift that allows me to help people."  He nods and smiles a little, "I just want you safe. I wish you didn't have to fight, but I know that helping others is a part of who you are. You can count on me being by your side through it all."  We kiss again and then start to get moving. When we get down to breakfast, everyone is half way done with their food. They look up and give us cheeky grins. Haze grins and I just wave them all off. We begin eating and I listen as they talk about their plans for the day.  During a lull in conversation, Marian speaks, "Helen, Haze, soon I want you to train together. I'm not a hand to hand fighter and there is only so much that I can teach in that department. She will learn much faster if you and your wolves train her."  Haze was not happy about me training in hand to hand combat. I grab his hand and scoot closer to him. "It is in your nature to want her safe and keep her out of battles. I wish I could tell you that there was a way to end this without her, but that would not be the truth. This is her destiny and the best thing we can do for her is to help her get prepared."  "Alright, I'll train her." He grudgingly agreed, then turned to me. "We'll start this afternoon at 4. One hour a day for now and then as you improve, we'll add time." I nodded and kissed his cheek. He could feel that I was thankful that he agreed.  We all finished and Marian and I went to our little spot next to the river. She wanted to see how strong my connection with her is so she had me focus on her during our meditation time.  I did for a few minutes, but I felt my mind drift towards this demon. The one who threatens me and my family. I felt a connection snap into place and felt the evil in the him.  I didn't fully realize what I had done until I heard a voice, "Well, well. I have been looking all over for you, little girl."  His voice was utterly disgusting, I could feel the coldness in his low pitched tone. I refused to let the cold engulf me.  "You are the one who threatened me and my family."  "That is correct." He's a talker.  I attempt to seek his thoughts, I don't know if I can, but it's worth a try since. I have to try on someone. "You cannot seek my thoughts, girl. You are not strong enough. Tell me where are you?" "Uh and I would tell you, why?" "Do not play with me. I will find you."  "The feeling is mutual." With that I cut the connection, I didn't know what else I could do and he was really getting on my nerves.  I open my eyes and Angel and I are pissed. I jump up and walk straight to the nearest tree to punch it...and it fell down. I let out a scream too, this is so frustrating! I think I scared Marian because when I turned around, she took a step back.  I took a deep breath.  "You spoke to him, didn't you, young one?" She tried to mask the worry that I could see in her eyes.  "I did, he couldn't see where I was. He has got to be the most annoying being I have ever met! He is cold and evil all the way through. There was no light left in him, whoever he was before is completely gone. And his voice! Ugh! It was like nails on a chalk board kind of annoying!"  I'm still seething and Angel is at the surface as well. I punch another tree and, like the first one, crashed to the ground.  I felt Haze coming to us and soon I was in his arms. Angel calmed immediately, which helped me calm some, but I'm still pissed.  I felt his surprise as he took in the trees that were now on the ground. I felt a little embarrassed, but still to angry to feel bad about the trees.  "What happened?" Haze asked, I wasn't ready to talk about it so I was glad when Marian answered.  "She connected with the demon and he pissed her off." I saw her face and she had her mischievous smirk on her face. "Well, Alpha. She might just give you a run for your money during training." She laughed and I did too. She was right, after a few lessons I might just do that.  Haze shook his head, "So, you're alright?"  I nod, "I'm fine. It seems as though I need to work on concentration and how to not get so angry. I was supposed to be focusing on Marian, but I allowed my mind to drift to HIM and I accidentally connected to him." I was getting angry again just thinking about what I had done.  Haze hugged my closer and tighter. It helped a little.  Marian soon shoed him away and we again tried meditating with me focusing on her. This time I did and connected with her. I felt her light and warmth. I felt that I could make her submit and force her wings out, but I had no reason to do so. I began to feel some slight anxiety, but I knew that it was not mine. It was coming from Marian, I quickly pulled back and cut the connection.  I opened my mind and saw that she was sweating as she sat next to me.  "I'm so sorry, did I hurt you?"  "No, young one. Your presence and power is strong." I stayed quiet so she could relax. "Tomorrow, I am going to bring another angel for you to connect with. He is a friend, but does not know about you or my connection with you."  "Okay." I decide to meditate for a while longer. I close my eyes and focus on the sounds and smells around me. This time there are more smells and sounds because Angel lent me her stronger hearing and smell.  I listened as children played and others worked. I listened to the different animals around us and found none to be a threat. I felt Marian leave and give me time to myself. I still felt others seeking me out, but my barrier was still holding up strong.  I have no idea how long I stayed that way, but at some point I felt a presence coming my way. I felt that is was Leo, so I opened my eyes when I felt him close and looked over at him. He smiled and came to sit by me.  "What were you doing?" He looked at me then at his surroundings. "I was meditating." I studied him for a minute. "You look like you haven't had a very good day." He shook his head and I could see that he was trying to hold back tears. I put my arm around him and pull him into his side.  "You can tell me if you want."  He was quiet for a while, but eventually spoke. "The other kids made fun of me again." I huffed and stroked his hair. "Well I always enjoy your company."  He smiled a little and we were both quiet for a while. After a few minutes, my stomach growls really loud and we both burst out laughing.  "I heard you missed lunch." He stood up and offered me his hand.  I took it and got up, "I don't even know what time it is, actually."  "It's after three." We started walking back to the pack house.  "Oh wow! I didn't even realize. I'm glad you found me." I smiled at him and this time I got a full smile in return. "How are things going with Chef Jerry?" He grinned, "Really good I think. I've learned so much."  "I'm so glad you're enjoying it, Leo!" We make it to the pack house and walk into the cafeteria together. Lunch is gone, but maybe there are some snacks. I picked up some fruit and began to eat it. The clock says I have half an hour before I start training with Haze. Leo and I sit at a table and continue to talk. He tells me about school and more about what he has learned with Jerry. His mom had decided to go back to school to become a doctor and that is taking up a lot of her time.  "Leo, you can come find me anytime you want, okay? Even if you just do homework and don't want to be alone while your mom is busy." I had put my hand under his chin so he had to look at me while I spoke.  He grinned and nodded.  "Okay, well, would you do me the honor of walking with me? I am to meet alpha soon for a training session."  He nodded, but didn't look to confident. When we got outside, he said that he had to get home to do his homework so I gave him a hug and sent him off. I turned and saw that many children were out playing and had seen my hug. I smiled and waved to them as I continued walking.  Most smiled back and waved, a few looked surprised and didn't respond.  I sensed Haze as I got closer to the training grounds so I followed my instincts and was led straight to him. My alpha was sparring with James and was kicking his butt. I cheered when Haze made James tap out. They looked over and Haze grinned while James chuckled and rolled his eyes.  Haze comes over and kisses my cheek, "Ready, baby?" I nod and we walk over to where he was with James earlier.
