We stopped at a grand parking lot where there were several food trucks stationed.
“April texted me that they were already sitting at one off the tables.”
They?
What did he mean by they?
And that’s when I saw them. April, looking as beautiful as ever and right next to her…
Amy.
She looked breathtaking and I could feel my wolf was on alert. I tried my best to control him while I looked angrily at Dylan.
“What the hell is she doing here?!” I growled at him as my chest was heaving up and down rapidly.
“I’m sorry dude, April texted me last minute she was coming and I couldn’t tell her she wasn’t invited…” he looked at me with a mixture of fear and guilt in his eyes.
I tried to relax as I felt my wolf fight for control.
“I don’t know if I’m going to be able to control him.” I said worried.
“Nick, come on, don’t worry, you can do this! You’re one of the strongest wolves I know and you have to deal with it sooner or later because she’s in our class.” He said trying to calm me down.
I know he was right, but he had no idea how hard it was.
“Just sit as far away from her as possible and try to think about what relaxes you, like before!”
“Fine!” I answered after a moment of silence. This was going to be a long night.
We started walking towards them when April saw us and waved at us. When we were getting closer to the table, I felt the sweet scent of Amy fill my nostrils. It was like the smell of fresh dew in the forest when I go for my morning run mixed with a warm ocean breeze.
“Hey you two! So this is Amy, the new girl. Amy, these are Dylan and Nick.” She said excitedly.
“Hi Dylan, hi Nick, oh and happy birthday.” She said with a warm voice and a bright smile on her face.
“Uhm, Thank you.” I said, my voice sounding cold, even to my ears. She looked at me with a confused and insecure look on her face. She probably thinks I hate her.
“Hey, I’m Dylan, thanks for coming! Hope you had a great first day?” Dylan said trying to cover for my stupid reaction as he gave me a little stump with his elbow.
“Oh, yeah, it was fine! And thank you!” She said, showing her beautiful smile again.
As we sat down, I made sure to sit in front of April. So I didn’t have to face her the entire time I would look up.
“Okay, so what would you guys like to eat?” April asked.
“What about hotdogs? Or tacos? Or—”
“Why don’t we let Nick decide? I mean it’s his birthday.” Amy suddenly said hesitant while interrupting Dylan.
“Me? Uhm, yeah sure. Tacos are fine.” I said, trying to give her a small smile.
“Tacos it is.” April said.
The girls insisted on getting the tacos and paying for them. When they got back April handed a plate to Dylan while Amy handed one to me. Just for a brief moment our fingers touched and it was magical. I could feel sparks erupt from that place and send chills down to my entire body. By the way she gasped in surprise and the look on her face, I knew she felt it too. I pulled my hand away as fast as I could and looked away while I put my plate down. My wolf was going crazy at this point, he was creating a great turmoil in my head.
It was getting harder to control him, but I kept focusing on my thoughts to relax myself.

~ Amy’s POV ~
I was having a great time with my new friends. Dylan is a really nice and funny guy while Nick seemed a little distant and didn’t say much but at least he didn’t seem as angry as before… I think it’s just hard for him trusting new people.
When we finished our tacos we decided to leave for the club.
As April and I were driving I asked her, “is Nick always like this?”
“What do you mean?” She asked, confused.
“Well, you know, he seemed a little bit absent…”
“Oh, that… yeah I know he is acting kind of strange but don’t worry about it, honestly. Why would he be angry at you when he doesn’t even know you?” She tried to reason with me.
“Yeah, you’re probably right…” I said, trying to convince myself.
The drive to the club wasn’t too far so we got there in no time. Nick and Dylan were already waiting for us at the door.
I was a little nervous about my ID, what if they saw it was fake?
What if they would call the police? Or my dad—?
“Amy, let’s go, the guys are waiting!” April yelled, waking me up from my thoughts.
I showed my ID to the bouncer and he took a good look at it, then he looked at me and back to the ID.
“Mmm, are you new here? Haven’t seen you around before.” He suddenly said, which made me even more nervous.
“Yeah, she just moved here yesterday. She’s cool, she’s with me,” April said with a flirty smile.
“Well any friend of April is a friend of mine,” he responded with a chuckle while he let us in.
“Oh my god I can’t believe that worked!” I yelled excitedly.
“Ssshhh, keep your voice down” April said with a chuckle.
As we got inside I was amazed by how big it was. There was a DJ on a small stage in front and the dance floor was filled with people.
I saw Nick immediately getting surrounded by a group of pretty girls, which made me feel kind of jealous. Why would it even bother me? I don’t understand any of this, it’s like I’m going crazy!
April saw a friend and excused herself for a moment, which left Dylan and me alone. “You wanna get something to drink?” He asked to break the awkward silence.
“Yeah sure!” I said.
Once we were at the bar he asked me what I wanted and told me it was on him.
“I don’t know… I never had alcohol before…” I said quietly, so no one could hear me except for him.
He chuckled as he said, “don’t worry, we’ll start with a beer see how you like it…”
I took a sip from it and it tasted weird, I don’t understand why everyone likes it that much.
“You have to get used to the taste,” he said while seeing the reaction on my face.
I thought this was a great moment to ask him about Nick and his behavior earlier today.
“So, Dylan, you and Nick are really close friends right?”
“Mm-hmm” he reacted while taking a sip from his beer.
“So you know him pretty well, don’t you?”
“Mm-hmm,” he hummed while looking at my questionably, not knowing where I was going with this.
“So what happened to him today? I mean why did he look so angry and walked out of class right after he saw me?” I finally popped the question I’ve been dying to ask him. And when I did he spit out the beer that was in his mouth and started coughing.
“I- uhm- I” he started hesitant while coughing a few more times. “I don’t know… I mean I do know, but I can’t tell you… it’s kind of private.” He said with regret in his voice.
“Can you at least tell me if it had something to do with me?” I asked, afraid of what he might answer.
“No, no, god no… it’s just something with his- uhm- family. Don’t worry, he can seem cold sometimes and he has a short temper, but that’s just how he is.” He said trying to soothe me.
April kind of said the same thing… maybe they were right and maybe it was all in my head…
“Okay, thank you, I just wanted to make sure…” I said after a moment.
After our little conversation we decided to go dance a little. The three of us were dancing together while Nick was still busy with some other girls. I guess he really is famous around here, I mean why wouldn’t he be, he looked totally hot in his skinny jeans and white T-shirt.
Honestly he would probably look hot in anything.
Sometimes I could feel his gaze on me, but when I looked back he immediately looked away.
After dancing for a while I got thirsty again. I went to the bar to get some beers for Dylan, April and I.
When I was waiting I suddenly felt a hand squeezing my bottom and someone saying “Haven’t seen your sexy ass around here before”. I gasped in surprise as I turned around slapping him in the face, but before my hand reached his cheek he took my wrist. “It’s not nice hitting people” he reacted with frustration in his eyes while he started tightening his grip.
“Let me go!” I yelled while I was trying to get loose.
When he was trying to pull me closer towards him I suddenly heard a growl coming from behind me.
“She said let go” I heard someone say with a low and dangerous voice.
“Ah Nicky boy, long time no see. How are you enjoying your birthday?” The guy suddenly said. Did Nick just growl? And did he just protect me?
And did he know this guy?
“Don’t make me say it again!” He said between his teeth. I could see his jaw tense up and his deadly gaze fixated on the guy next to me.
They kept staring at each other for a moment before the guy suddenly let go of me, his gaze still focused on Nick.
I walked over to Nick and we started walking away while suddenly the guy yelled, “Don’t worry, I don’t want your little w***e!”
I saw Nick freeze at his words, his eyes filled with rage, before he suddenly turned around and started moving towards him, with his fists clenched while he growled “I’m gonna f*****g kill you!” It looked like someone else was in control of his body. Before I realized what was happening, Nick punched him right in the face, which made him step back and clean the blood of his lip. The next moment he started fighting back and they were both on the ground, Nick clearly winning, even though he got hit a few times, hard. April and Dylan noticed the commotion and were now standing next to me.
“Oh god, not again…” I could hear Dylan say underneath his breath.
They both warned me he had a short temper, but I was still in shock, because I didn’t expect this at all. Him starting a fight trying to protect me. He hasn’t even talked to me properly.
All of a sudden the bouncer broke them apart.
“Nick, Jeremy, OUT! NOW!” He yelled at them angrily. I guess the other guy's name is Jeremy.
They both got up, Nick looking furious. He was bleeding from his nose and his temple. He started walking towards us and faced Dylan with a look that could kill while growling, “Let’s go!”.
When they were leaving, I saw that Nick lost his wallet during the fight.
I took it up and started running after them. Dylan was ready to get in the car and Nick was a little behind with his hands still clenched beside him, obviously still angry.
“Nick, wait!” I yelled, which made him turn around and yell at me “What?!”
“Uhm, you lost your wallet.”
“Oh, thanks…” he said, while his gaze softened.
“And I just wanted to say thank you, for protecting me back there…” I said to him while I walked towards him.
“yeah, sure… whatever.” He responded rather insensitively.
I gave him a small smile anyway as I handed over his wallet and at the moment we touched I felt it again. Sparks and heat erupt from our touch and a shiver running down my spine. I never felt anything like it. He pulled away again, fast, just like before.
I could see a hint of panic in his eyes while he was obviously avoiding eye contact.
“Nick, come on.” Dylan said while breaking the silence.
He got in the car and before they left Dylan yelled at me, “See you Monday Amy!”
When they drove off I couldn’t help but feel sad that he wasn’t near me anymore when I suddenly heard April calling out for me, “Amy! Are you okay?”
I turned around and said, “I just wanna go home...”
