The Lycan King's Hybrid Mate

Chapter Seven

Dimitri’s (POV)

I sat there hugging my mother listening to everything that Noah was saying. I couldn’t believe that I was actually going to see my Dad. My emotions were all over the place. Knowing that family was behind this whole thing. Scarlett’s family had already done so much for mine and now after rescuing my father, I’m pretty sure there is a target painted on their back. Even more so that Scarlett is my mate doesn’t help. I could feel her eyes on me from across the room, even though we weren’t mated she could still feel something was off with me. With me being a Lycan and her being my mate the change was already starting I could feel it and so could Dane. Once we were fully mated she would become a full blood Lycan as well as a witch. There was so much history that was lost to us all over the years. The Elders still weren’t back from their trip in Europe. I had left several messages informing them of what had happened and still nothing.

I was starting to think the Elders and their jobs were a joke. In my time at school not once did we ever learn about them or even how they got started. Yet last night Scarlett’s mom told us about the four original families and how they had kept the peace for all of us. Yet all it took was one person to change all that in an instant. There were so many pieces missing to this puzzle and now those missing pieces needed to be found. I needed to talk to Everly to see if she could tell me more, I would do that after seeing my father. My mother pulled out of my hug and stood up sniffling as she said. “Please excuse me, would it be alright if I went to freshen up before we leave.”

“ Of course take your time, I will call and check in and see how everything is going.” Said Noah walking away pulling his phone out of his pocket. With that I went in search of my mate, as I walked up the stairs and got closer to her room I could feel that she wasn’t alright, so I quickly went to her. She was laying on her bed crying.

“ Scarlett, are you okay?” I asked, she looked at me and the tears started to fall harder. I sat on the bed and pulled her onto my lap and wrapped my arms around her. “ shh my love it’s going to be ok. Can you tell me what's wrong?” I whispered, she sighed and said “ Everything is just starting to feel heavy, I feel like our lives are already planned and we get no say in the matter. I feel like we have been put on this pedestal like we are the puppets and someone else is

the puppet master.”

“ I was feeling that way myself at first but then I realized no matter what history says, we are in charge of our own lives. I can’t say things aren’t going to be difficult at times but I can promise you that we won’t let this prophecy run our lives. I love you and we are in this together.” I said

“ I love you too. Is that what was bothering you earlier too? Thank you, with everything going on I should be asking if you are ok.” Said Scarlett

“ Partly, but mostly I was thinking about what I would say to my Dad. I was also feeling bad because your father just risked everything for my family. If you didn’t have a target on your backs already you definitely do now. Also when your mom talked about the original families she never mentioned anything about the Elders, even when I was at school they were never talked about. It just seems to me that a lot of history is still missing. I was hoping to talk to your mom more about it.” I said noticing the packed bags

“ Just tell him you love him and give him a hug, let the rest happen as it goes. I can tell this is something is really bothering you, we can look into it and maybe my mom will have more information to go on and that will give us a starting point” Said Scarlett

“ You're right, hopefully it gives us something. Are you ok now? If you are, I'm gonna take a shower before we have to leave.” I said

“ Yeah, I’m a lot better now. Thank you, ok while you do that I am going to go make us a sandwich.” said Scarlett

We both stood up and she hugged me and kissed me and walked out of the room. I grabbed a pair of clean underwear and started the shower water. I stripped off my clothes and stepped into the warm stream. I laid my head against the wall and let the hot water run over my stiff shoulders. I had meant everything I had said to Scarlett and I would keep my promise. I don’t even know how long I had stayed in the shower, cause the next thing I know. Scarlett is knocking on the door telling me that it is time to leave. I quickly finished up and stepped out and toweled off and slipped on my boxers and walked out. Scarlett was sitting on the bed dressed in black fitted t-shirt and tight jeans. She was putting socks on when she looked up at me and I loved it when she looked at me like that. It made me feel warm, and it made Dane excited.

“We need to claim our mate soon, it’s getting harder to hold back.” Said Dane

“I know it is, but our mate has never been with a man before. I need to talk to her before we Lycan out on her.” I said

“ Talk to her now before I lose it.” Said Dane

I cut the link and chuckled. “What’s so funny over there?” Asked Scarlett

“ Dane and I like how you look at us like you just did. I need you to know that looks like that excite us both, I can control myself but Dane on the other hand is having a hard time. I know this isn’t the best time to bring this up, but we haven’t had much time to ourselves to talk about us claiming each other.” I said slipping my jeans on as she said “ Oh, I guess with everything going on I hadn’t really thought about it. I mean it’s been in the back of my mind. I won’t lie when I tell you, I’m nervous as hell.”

“Why are you so nervous?” I asked, her cheeks flushed as she said “ I’m not sure why, I guess because I’ve never done it and I’m afraid I won’t know what to do.” “ Baby you have no reason to be nervous, it’s been such a long time for me that I have the same fears. But I promise that it will be fine and everything will come naturally to you.” I said.

“ I’m glad to know that I’m not the only one feeling that way. How about we get through you seeing your dad and when the dust settles and we get to the palace we can talk more about it.” Said Scarlett

“ I’m ok with that. And don’t worry about Dane, he will be fine. I will explain things to him.” I said

I finished getting dressed and Scarlett grabbed a few more things and stuffed them into our bags. I sat on the bed and pulled on my socks and boots. I watched as my mate slipped her boots on as well. “ Ready?” I asked and she nodded. I grabbed our bags and she grabbed our coats and we went to meet everyone in the kitchen. When we got close I could hear what sounded like a new voice. I was about to ask who was here when Scarlett said “ Sounds like Willow is finally here.” It took me a minute to remember that she was going to watch the house while we were gone. We rounded the corner to see everyone sitting at the table except Noah, even Everly was back.

“ Mom what are you doing here, I thought you were just going to open the portal?” Asked Scarlett

“ That was originally the plan. I was out with a few warrior’s placing my protection spell and there was a broader breach. I opened a portal and got out of there. We are just waiting for confirmation before we can go back. Your father is there, and don’t worry Dimitri, your father is safe, the whole hospital is under protection.” Said Everly

I didn’t realize I was holding my breath until I relaxed at her words hearing that my father was ok. “ I don’t like the fact that not even 24 hours after you save my father that your boarder is breached, my gut is telling me that this was my uncles doing. I mean no disrespect when I say this, but is the protection spell even enough to keep them out if he has a witch working for him?” I asked

“ I don’t like it either, and no the spell isn’t enough Scarlett is a lot more powerful than I am she would have to help with the spell. But she can’t do it from here. Right now me using magic like that in the open is a risk to all of us. The choice is yours” Said Everly

“ Then let's go right now. The sooner we get there I can get started, you just need to open the portal into the hospital. Even if the spell isn’t as strong it should hold and then I just add to what's already there.” Said Scarlett

“ That is a good idea, not sure why I didn’t think of it. Even though we will be inside there is still a risk, in doing this. If there witch is with them and she tries to break the spell while you're adding to it I don’t know what will happen.” Said Everly

“ Scarlett, I don’t like the uncertainty of this plan.” I said

“ I don’t either, but right now it’s the only plan we have. I’m willing to try if you are. I know you will protect me.” Scarlett said and hugged me

I still wasn’t one hundred percent sure about this plan, but in the short amount of time that I had known my mate. I knew when she set her mind to something she was doing it. So I would do what I had to do to protect her. The nod of my head, had Everly opening the portal. Scarlett and I were standing on the cusp ready to walk into the unknown dangers that were possibly awaiting us. I held her hand as tight as I could as we stepped through.

Scarlett’s (POV)

I knew Dimitri wasn’t ok with the plan, but I wasn't going to sit around and wait and do nothing. I know fighting right wasn’t my strong suit but no one knew what my mom had trained me for everything imaginable when it came to magic. Not to brag but I made Harry Potter look like a chump. My mom had been hinting that I was stronger in front of present company but no one was asking what she meant, so I hadn’t brought it up to anyone and in truth I was bound by an oath I couldn’t hint and I couldn’t say anything unless asked. As we stepped through the portal, I felt Dimitri’s grip on my hand tighten. He was scared, and truth be known I was too. I had already started to channel my magic into the spell, and once we were inside the hospital I started to chant in my head.

Moon Goddess and magic in my blood hear me now. Protect all those around me. Protect those fighting for our safety outside these walls. Stop further threats to this pack and protect these borders. I kept chanting. I felt my magic pour out of me and I watched as it did as I had asked it to. This much magic was exhausting to use. I knew the risks and I knew what was coming. I looked to my mom and pleaded with my eyes to have her explain everything since it would be a matter of minutes and I would pass out. And then I felt my body go slack, I felt arms around me before I hit the floor and before the darkness overtook me.

Dimitri’s (POV)

It all happened so fast that I almost didn’t catch Scarlet before she fell, I felt the change in the air when she started using her magic and it was something I had never felt before. I could feel what she was feeling right when she was feeling it herself. “ Everly what is going on? She just cast a spell for not only us but for the whole damn pack! How is that possible!!” I yelled or more like demanded

“ I told you that she was stronger than I am. My mother is the daughter of the grand white witch. As you know they are very powerful, not only that my father was also born the same, only his parents were half and half. When you're a white witch the powers skip a generation, we originally thought that Mauve would be the next, but when she found blood magic she was no longer good. It changed everything, then when Noah and I had Scarlett we realized that she would have the powers of the next white witch along with being blessed by the Goddess, she is the most powerful witch and Lycan the world will have ever known. As will you.” Said Everly

I couldn’t believe what I was hearing. “ Why is this just now coming to our attention?” I asked

“ By law we can’t say anything unless the question is asked. When you witnessed and lived through what she did, I was granted permission to give you an answer. I have been trying to drop hint after hint. Please don’t be mad at Scarlett it wasn’t her choice she couldn't hint or say anything unless asked. This is something that will affect you both. Once you both have it under control the things you can do will be limitless.” Said Everly

As I held my mate in my arms, I took in everything that was being said and I couldn’t believe it. What if she is the one uncle is looking for, with that kind of power no one would stand a chance. A doctor came up to us and said “ Please let me check and make sure she is alright. Also your father is asking for you.” I picked up my mate and placed my mate on a bed and looked at my mother.

“ Stay with your mate, I will explain to your father. We will be here waiting for you.” Said my Mother as she turned to follow a nurse in the opposite direction.

I waited in the hall as they looked over Scarlett. They were taking too long and it was making me crazy. After what felt like hours the doctor finally came out.

“ I apologize for the wait. You have an extraordinary mate young man. All the tests indicated the same thing. Your mate was in a coma with no signs of waking up in the next week. We even went to run the test again and she woke up asking for you.”

“ As the son of your King, please don’t say anything to anyone other than me and her parents. No one else can know about this.” I said

“ Yes, your highness. I understand I will make sure my staff is well aware. You may go in and see her, I would like to keep her for a couple hours to make sure she is alright. She was very dehydrated so I would like to get her fluids up and she needs rest.” Said the doctor

“ I understand.” I said

He seemed to want to say more but I didn’t give him the chance. I needed to see my mate and now. I opened the door and when I saw her laying on the bed it broke my heart. She looked at me and smiled and said “ Hi babe, I’m going to assume that you know my secret.”

“ I do, your mom explained everything. That is one hell of a secret you’ve had to keep.” I said

“It hasn’t been easy. That’s why I have been so weird about us completing the mate bond. I didn’t want you to think that I was hiding this from you. I knew once we completed the bond everything would be known. The problem with that is no one knows what would happen if we mated without you knowing. That’s why my mom kept hinting at the more powerful stuff. It was to entice someone to ask, I had to tell my mom what you were asking and what I should say to you. Now that you know everything I need you to know that I can’t wait to mate with you and start our life together.” Said Scarlett

“ I’m sorry. I hope you know that I wasn’t trying to be pushy or anything like that.” I said she smiled at me and said “ I never thought you were being pushy, I understood where you were coming from. Trust me when I say me and Alex have been feeling the same things that you and Dane have been feeling. Like this morning after your shower. It was hard to control what I was feeling. I know what desire is, I haven’t had a partner but I have done things for myself. I'm not a prude by any means. When I was a little girl I had to act a certain way so as to not draw attention to myself, before I was old enough to take the oath. I was a very naughty little girl always getting into trouble. Even when I got a little older I still did things I shouldn’t have and said things as well. Finally my mom had to fully explain everything that could happen if people knew about my being blessed and my background. So I did away with the bad girl and became the me I am now.” Said Scarlett

“ So you're telling me you were a bit of a rebel, I like that sound of that. But I also like who you are right now, I can tell by the way you're looking at me and the way you smile, that your secret wasn’t only a big one but it was also a giant burden. I can’t even imagine what that was like living with. Did the doctor talk to you before he left?” I asked

“ No, I was still getting my bearings about everything and asked him to explain it to you.” Said Scarlett

“ So he told me they ran multiple tests while you were out, and well they all came back saying you were in a coma. They ran it again and while they were waiting for the results you woke up and you technically shouldn’t have. You are dehydrated so they are giving you fluids, he wants to keep you for a few hours to make sure that you are alright before sending you home. I also asked them not to share this information to anyone outside of me and your family.” I said

I watched the color drain from her face when I told her everything. She was scared, and truthfully I was too. We needed answers and waiting wasn’t the best option, but it seemed to be the only one we had right now.

“ I know you're scared, I won’t lie and say I’m not feeling the same way. We will find answers, but right now I need you to rest.” I said

“ Actually, could you call the nurse? My head is starting to hurt and I am really thirsty?” asked Scarlett

I didn’t wait to hit the call button, a few short minutes later the doctor himself walked in.

“ After our last conversation I figured it was best if I just handled her case. Scarlett, how are we feeling?” asked the Doctor

“I’m really thirsty and my head is really starting to hurt, bad enough that it's making me sick to my stomach.” said Scarlett

“ Sounds like the stress has gotten to you. You can have some water but small sips only and I will get you some pain medication to help you with the pain.” Said the Doctor

“ Thank you.” said Scarlett

I thanked the doctor as well and I focused all my attention on Scarlett. I walked over to the light switch and turned them off and closed the blinds. The only light was coming from the TV and from under the door. “ Thank you that helped a little bit, please lay with me. Having you close helps too.” Sighed Scarlett. I did as she asked and layed next to her and stroked her hair. There was a knock on the door and the doctor walked in.

“Scarlett, how are you feeling?” asked the Doc “ About the same, turning the lights off definitely helped a little bit.” Said Scarlett

“Ok, so as you know with you being a werewolf most medication doesn’t work for us so we have to give morphine to help with the pain. It should kick in right away and this first dose will make you sleep. Are you alright with that?” asked the Doc

Scarlett nodded her head in agreement. Since she already had an IV it didn’t take long for the morphine to kick in. “ Keep an eye on her. If she wakes up and still doesn’t feel good we will do another dose, I will keep the fluids coming. Also when was the last time she ate?” Asked the Doc

“ Honestly so much has happened I am not sure when either of us ate anything.” I said “ Ok I will set up another IV nutrition bag just to be safe. Would you like me to have some food sent up and also my name is Derek here is my personal number if anything changes call me.” Said Derek. “ Thank you for all of your help and yes food would be great and maybe some coffee? Also one more favor my mother is with my father, the man they brought in last night can you please let her know what is going on. I don’t want to leave until her parents can come sit with her?” I asked “ I can do that for you. I will be back with some food.” Said Derek

I thanked him again and went back to stroking my mate's hair. She was totally out of it, so I turned up the TV and flipped through the channels, settling on Friends. I pulled my phone out and called Everly. I explained everything that Derek had told us, she told me that she and Noah would be there; they just had to finish up something. I wanted to know what and she said she would explain when they got here. I settled back in next to my mate and the next thing I know sleep has taken over.

“Dane, what is going on?” I asked, I waited for his response but it never came, I looked around and that's when I saw Alex she was standing in a clearing. It looked like she was waiting for us, so Dane walked over to her and that's when this bright light appeared. I had to close my eyes I went to ask Dane again what the hell was happening when a woman stood before us. She was wearing a white gown. I felt Dane bow and looked to see Alex doing the same thing. I realized that she had to be the moon goddess. I wanted to ask more questions, but was afraid.

“Dane let your human come forward.” Said the Goddess. Once I was shifted I bowed to her, to show my respect.

“ Hello Dimitri, I know you have questions please ask.” Said the Goddess

“ I know that my mate Scarlett is special. I need to know how to train so things like today don’t happen again. I just found my mate. I can't lose her. I know that I shouldn’t ask but I need to know is the prophecy going to destroy our lives or will we get to be happy?” I asked

“ You and your mate are equally special for very different reasons. Both of which are why I paired you together. Your weaknesses and strengths will balance each other and you will make wonderful rulers using what you have learned growing up. As for the training, what you need to know lies inside the very palace you live in. The foundation is from the first castle built by your descendants. Dane knows the way let him guide you, you will know when the time is right. As your other question I can’t tell you , how your lives will be altered. I can leave you with this, choose the right paths and you will find your happy ending. I’ve kept you here too long. I need to send you back. Just remember when the time is right.” Said the Goddess and then she was gone.

When I woke up I was with Scarlett and she was still sleeping. I slipped from the bed and looked at the time and it was about five in the evening and I was starving. I pushed the call button and used the restroom while I waited. I washed my hands and grabbed paper towels to dry my hand and opened the door to find my mate wide awake and looking much better. Along with Derek.

“ I’m glad to see you both got some much needed rest. Now that you're both awake I have food for you both. My wife brought over some BBQ chicken and homemade mac and cheese and some salad. I hope this is alright.” Said Derek

“ This is wonderful and we very much appreciate what your wife did for us. Any idea when I can go home?” asked Scarlett

“ Well everything looks good, how about you eat and we check again and then I think you're good to go. I will check back in, in about twenty minutes.” Said Derek

“ Sounds great Thank You.” Said Scarlett

He left the room and I walked over to my mate and hugged her and kissed her. “ I’m not complaining but what was that for?” asked Scarlett

“ I didn’t like seeing you like that at all. I still haven’t been to see my dad yet, do you want to come with me?” I asked, she looked at me like I was crazy and said “ You need to eat and go see him right now, I am fine and when Derek is done I will come find you.” I didn’t argue with her so I grabbed our plates and dug in, and it was delicious! I was so hungry that it didn't take me long to finish. I kissed and thanked my mate and went to see my dad. I stood in front of his door and knocked. “ Come in,” said a deep voice. I opened the door and looked at the man before me. He looked just like I remembered except maybe a little skinnier. I looked at my mom and with a shaky breath I said “ Dad”. He didn’t say anything and just opened his arms and I went back to a time when I was a little boy needing a hug from my dad. I walked up and honestly cried like a baby. After about five minutes I pulled myself together. I found a chair and sat down. My mom left us to talk and we talked about everthing. I told him about Scarlett and how great she is. I could tell something was on his mind when he gave a big sigh. " Son I need you to promise me that you won't go looking for a fight with your uncle, prepare and let it come to us. We need things to play out our way not his. So promise me you won't go looking for revenge. I promise it won't help all we can do is move forward and enjoy what we have right in front of us. So promise me." Said Dad

" I promise, I know that I am needed here, once your feeling better we need to sit down and have a meeting with our families and then we need to meet with the other Alphas to make a plan in case and attack happens." I said
